  1. Greek style stuffed tomatoes and bell peppers with a spinach saut
  2. I have three 9 year old boys in my house. We are eating whatever I find in the freezer since I can't get rid of the two that aren't mine. Hubs is on the golf course in 100 degree heat so there's no relief (or trip to the store) in sight. I just fed them the last of the retried beans and corn tortillas. They'll be chewing on my ankle next. I've got to...
  3. Leftover steak converted into quesadillas, with avocado and salsa and cheese. Making cheesecake for hubby's birthday celebration tomorrow... Just made Nutella fudge with the help of a visiting neighbor's wall-scaling Labradoodle and 3 nine year-old boys. One of which tried to handcuff the dog. And did I mention I'll be hitting the vodka later??
  4. I was asked to add this additional info about having a rash and having a gluten issue. These are my personal observations based on my readings and experience. 1) If your rash responds to gluten, it is a gluten-related rash. 2) You can try to biopsy it, but a negative result does not mean it isn't DH or a gluten related rash. 3) Most gluten rashes have...
  5. Evidently, pizza. Bought some KA pizza crust mix and am giving it a whirl. BTW if y'all want some good pizza combos try the ones from Pizzeria Bianco http://www.pizzeriabianco.com/menu.html. I ate there pre-gluten-free and it was divine. Anyhoo, what makes their pizzas so good (aside from the crust and the wood oven) are the combinations of flavors...
  6. Oh geez. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience; however, the thought of the reaction when you told her to google it does make me giggle. Well, if you said it with the tone I would have used - you know the one that implies "you're an idiot"... I'm sorry, but there are a lot of medical professionals that DESERVE to have their patients resort to The...
  7. You're quite welcome. I wish the same author could revisit the subject with present day knowledge. I'm sure it would change, but surely the keen observations would stay intact. What struck me was how different the language is compared to what we find online (I haven't dug through modern medical texts). And there's so much DESCRIPTION and detail. This...
  8. When I found this I thought it was interesting there were so many descriptions and varieties of DH compared to what is commonly described and is "usual" today. Yes, it's an old resource but it's also a very respected one that is, I believe, still used today. It does pre-date knowing what causes DH - the gluten part or salicylates or anything else. I...
  9. Well, I was tired of cooking so we went out. I snuck Tostitos into my favorite Mexican joint so I could eat the salsas (they have a shared fryer so chips are out) and guzzled two Cadillac margaritas. In-house soft corn tortillas with a beef/bacon mix and chicken/bacon mix saut
  10. Oh geez. How is that doc not strung up by his heels in a public forum??
  11. I'm not ever cooking again. Well, maybe in a few days?? Tonight, we're having leftovers. Leftover pork roast stuffed with garlic and peppe and dripping gravy, sweet potato casserole, asparagus, rice, fruit salad, lemon meringue pie, and carrot cake cupcakes....
  12. I don't want to cook, because I'm thinking about what im cooking for Easter. Sandwiches?
  13. Brown Snake and Rabies (round steak in gravy or steak etoufee) Green beanS white rice I forgot, tonight is the NCAA championship..... Was planning on going out but here we are (and I'm cooking). Today's benna hella day.
  14. Sorry, didn't see this. Funny you ask - I made rice wraps (or as my son calls them - Asian burritos) with the leftovers and started wondering about chicken and something gingery or limey. Oddly enough, the meat doesn't come out sweet. I was thinking of sprite or gingerale. A famous southern dish is Coke and pork/ham. Sweet as syrup...
  15. It wasn't snarky. And the beef would be ok if you put it in a sandwich, etc. not a lot of seasoning - but you do taste the DP which is rather strange, actually. It is very tender. I'll be making sandwiches/tacos with it later this week.
  16. I agree, but I'd never heard of using Dr. Pepper with beef (Coke with ham, yes). Btw the avocado fries were rather lacking. I don't know of it was using gluten-free breadcrumbs or if the recipe is just blah - but if I did it again I'd fry them and just coat them in flour not breadcrumbs. And The Kid did NOT eat my Catalina dressing.
  17. Hey, they are quite the Pinterest rage! I can't believe THAT was odd when I'm cooking a pot roast in Dr. Pepper? . I put some coconut oil in my Catalina dressing - that's a bit weird too but figured my child could use a brain boost (if he eats it).
  18. Don't laugh. Beef pot roast cooked in Dr. Pepper. Baked avocado fries Salad with homemade Catalina dressing Hubs is out of town and I'm trying to get The Kid into eating more veggies.
  19. Thai influenced chicken soup over rice. Hubs has a cold or is in the middle of a hideous allergy attack. He needed his feel-good meal.
  20. I'm taking my son to Science Night at school, where they are serving Domino's Pizza. So I will be having leftover spaghetti sauce with gluten-free pasta! And he will be hosed down prior to re-entry!
  21. Fried chicken strips (sweet rice flour) Mashed potatoes Fruit salad I guess The Kid liked them, he ate all but 3 pieces and told me I should make them more often! Btw you need 2x the seasoning using rice flour v. Wheat.
  22. Shrimp etoufee and sweet potatoes. Geaux LSU!!
  23. Really? Do they make them or are they a name brand? I haven't noticed them - then again it never occurred to me to look at the cookies. I haven't seen anything at mine that isn't "no gluten ingredients" in a long time. I wonder if you have a different selection in your area. I take that back - they added some gluten-free bread that isn't their label...
  24. Yeah, I have had mixed results from their stuff. You'll notice they don't say gluten-free, but "no gluten ingredients". Haven't tried those cookies, but have great luck with the creme br
  25. Leftover turducken, mashed potatoes and green beans. And it's in the 70's here and I'm in shorts!
