Celiac.com 06/14/2024 - We get a lot of questions about which products are gluten-free, and which are not. One question we've seen frequently has been a question about Blue Diamond almonds. Blue Diamond almonds are a popular brand of almonds, with a range of different flavors. One of their most popular almond flavors are the Smokehouse Almonds, which contain the following ingredients:

    • almonds
    • vegetable oil
    • salt
    • corn maltodextrin
    • natural hickory smoke flavor
    • yeast
    • hydrolyzed corn
    • soy protein
    • natural flavors

So, are Blue Diamond almonds gluten free and safe for people with celiac disease? The answer is yes, most of their flavors are naturally gluten-free and do not have any allergen warning for wheat. Unfortunately they do not include "gluten-free" on their label for their products that are naturally gluten-free.

    Celiac.com Sponsor (A12):
According to feedback from the company, most Blue Diamond snack almonds and Smokehouse almonds are gluten-free, as are most other Blue Diamond products.

Increasingly popular Inka Corn is also gluten-free. Both snacks come in a variety of flavors. They're great snacks to have on hand for a road trip, hike, or as a compliment to your favorite gluten-free beer or other beverage.
Several other companies make a corn nut type snack, including Manitou Trading Company, and Sincerely Nuts. Corn nuts are also a good option for people who can't eat tree nuts or peanuts. Remember, if you have a food allergy or sensitivity, always double check the label, and check with the manufacturer if you're not sure.

    Allergen-free, Gluten-Free Snacks are Still a Goldmine
Celiac.com 11/19/2019 - Driven in part by perceptions of better health and nutrition, sales of gluten-free snacks remains strong, though the paleo category is rising fast. That's leading to some evolution, and even some overlap, within these categories.
According to a SPINS 2019 “State of the Industry” report, paleo and grain-free food and beverages are showing the fastest growth in conventional retail. The paleo diet has nothing to do with food intolerance, but instead touts the perceived healthiness of certain "paleo" foods.
Paleo-positioned foods grew 48.8% to $294 million in conventional retail sales compared to the previous year, while the grain-free category grew 81.5% to $139.4 million over the previous year.
The biggest growth was seen in the chip, pretze...

    Gluten-Free Snacks
Celiac.com 04/02/2021 - On a gluten-free outing with nursing students, they presented an array of snacks that were listed as "gluten-free". After careful review and sampling, we came to the conclusion that fancy packaging costs more than the product inside! That means sampling is costly so healthy meals are better for a healthy bank account. Here is a summation of the gluten-free snacks sampled (GF labels mean it contains less than 20 ppm gluten).
Organic Crunchy Rice Rollers = various flavors and all the GF ingredients you could want BUT they were so dry that extra liquid was needed to eat just 1/2 roll.
Banana Vital " Simply Bananas" and "Simply Bananas + Guava" tasted good and was a good source of potassium, folate and magnesium for 90 calories and 17 grams sugar.
