Casein Elimination Diet

Does anyone know how long is long enough for a casein elimination diet. Tried it on my son for 3 days. Day 1 he was better, but since Day 2, he still has stomachaches. If he's still gonna have the stomachache, should I just put him back on milk? Getting desperate! :(

takes me a week to get over the casein symptoms. it'll take him longer than that to get used to the change in food.

It might take at least 2-3 weeks until you see a change in your son's symptoms. Don't put him back on milk. Keep him CF for at least one month.

I reintroduced casein (via raw goat cheese) several months ago and it took me several weeks to get over the symptoms. I just don't think it leaves the body in a couple days.

One month CF is not as hard as it sounds. (heck, I've been doing it for over ten years! - minus that week I ate goat cheese) It's worth it to find out if this is the problem.

Good luck! I hope he feels better soon.

I would say try it for at least two weeks to one month. I keep trying to re-introduce cheese about every two months, but so far I have been unsuccessful. I guess I have to accept that I will probably never be able to eat dairy. You do get used to it, but you have to be a little creative.

I just started eliminating milk and eggs from my diet last week for my daughter and haven't seen much change yet except for her eczema getting a little better. I don't have her asking for it, though, so it's much easier on me.

have you tried to distract your son with df treats? I don't think I could make it without strawberry real fruit bars by breyers, enjoy life snickerdoodles, and the Cravings place brownies. I'm sure you've tried this, just trying to help.......

I'll be thinking of you and hope it gets better quickly if that is his issue.... Immediate results make things so much easier.

Hi,

Please be strong. We eliminated all diary.no milk no cheese ....and it gets better. My son is 13 years old so it was easy to explain.if you reduce sugar it helps a lot too.

my son had eczema and sinus problems for more than 10 years ,he could not sleep properly and was tired in the morning ,he was among the short children in his class, now he sleeps well, his eczema is gone and he is among the tallest. It is so funny that they make us believe if we do not give milk to our children they will not grow.after eliminating gluten and casein in his diet ,his life is really different.

your daughter is lucky that you come to this point while she is so young.

good luck elisabet
