  1. I could not find that thread this morning. Kept saying error! error! Made me wonder about my brain for a sec. geesh, shouldn't mess with us older peeps that way.
  2. lol I know someone with a tee shirt that says "ask me about my celiac" but that may be too "over the top"??. But....you're right...at least the gizmo has james bond-ish appeal.
  3. I am not sure what value this "device" could be for me. Honestly.Maybe I am not getting it?
  4. How smokes, CQ..! geesh..why would they put that in there? Frozen vegs? I forget...remind me, hon..............are you in the US?
  5. Culturelle is indeed gluten and dairy free. Please check the label once more or read what's posted on their website. I would never recommend something that contains wheat. And I certainly would never have taken it myself. Honest!
  6. yes, yes, yes...The anxiety goes away! Hang tough, babes!
  7. I do not see any citations in that article posted by NoGlutenCooties, so I am not willing to believe that the chiropractor dr. O'Bryan's estimate is accurate. Not everyone thinks he is a "celiac expert". The article also asserts there is valid testing for gluten sensitivity, which is simply not true. There is no testing for NCGS at this time. Leading...
  8. Hi Madminx, If you have been gluten free for 11 months, there's no way you would get an accurate result, hon. Sorry. You can have a severe reaction and be sick for a few weeks even if you have non-celiac gluten sensitivity, so it's really hard to say if you have celiac or not based on that reaction. I heard Dr. Fasano say in a recent interview that NCGS...
  9. Sorry, Cricket. This happens from time to time on the forum and we do try to steer it back. Not always easy. I went back and read the thread and it appears your original questions were answered at the beginning of the thread by several members, but if you have more, you can always start a new thread.. best wishes,IH
  10. Well, actually...you finished reading it...., because you are the LAST to post! You may call it "back and forth"..... Some of us call it making sure the truth is posted so that no newly diagnosed people read something and think "it's true" because they read it on celiac.com As Karen said..this is how celiac myths are perpetuated.. The End...
  11. Should read as "SELF PROCLAIMED" Internationally recognized expert on gluten sensitivity. I would hardly call him an expert on Celiac Disease. Dr. Tom O'Bryan, internationally recognized expert on gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease, says, "The introduction of GMOs is highly suspect as a candidate to explain the rapid rise in gluten-related disorders...
  12. ............and that concludes today's festivities. Let's all have some M and Ms.
  13. I could say the same about you,and some of your posts.... but I know full well that there is no way to interpret "tone" in a post. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. I think maybe you misread me. Maybe you do not get my humor. I know you have misread other people's posts before, too. And just because I asked a question of you, it does not...
  14. You could have NCGS and still suffer all those symptoms.
  15. I suggest you and your wife read this book. REAL LIFE WITH CELIAC DISEASE by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler Really. It will help you both understand what is going on, how to deal, what else can be going on besides celiac, and what follow up care she may need. Good for you for being so sweet and wanting to help her. but gee, Len.....going...
  16. ...and then, there are more sources that say "ONLY" DQ2 and DQ8 are celiac-related genetic markers. People like Jebby (Jess) are unique. The research is new and she is in the smallest population of celiacs right now. Please understand, that the "celiac genes" are only related, not pre-determined as suggesting someone has celiac. The genetic tests...
  17. wait wait wait a second....not sure it's a "stereotype" to be the one who promotes healthy eating, prepares the food, designs the shopping list and takes care of the hubs because we are more proficient at cooking and baking.. Why is it a "stereotype"? Color me curious. Explain it to me. No hair pins or pearls here. I am just a fabulous cook.
  18. Holy smokes...come on, guys...she's got the goods! If no one takes them in a day or so, I'll ask you to send them to me for someone I know can use them. (I just want protect her anonymity) and she is not on this forum. Thanks, Laura and cooking and spending time in the kitchen is NEVER wasted time. Nor is it a stereotype, as far as I know.
  19. Take it from me, whose muscles were almost atrophied and so painful I wanted to just roll over and die.....you CAN exercise gently, walk, and maybe even lift some weights. I started slow and worked my way up. My muscles are totally different than 10 months ago. I could not even open a jar at one point and I needed help getting dressed. But here is what...
  20. It's almost what I say. "I have Celiac disease and I cannot have any gluten. Not a speck It makes me very sick and almost killed me. Do you know what gluten is, hon?" is s/he says OH yes!....we go from there. I never say "gluten allergy" because that is not what we suffer.
  21. While I find the CSA distributes some good info and some (shall we say) erroneous info? (they say alcohol is not gluten-free and check their latest on "OMISSION beer" as being gluten-free) AND I DO NOT agree...but I digress.... ...I agree with support group as being helpful. I also think THIS support group right here on c.com is very helpful...
  22. In case some of you have not read this link on the Newbie 101 thread, please take a look at realistic ways to prevent cross contamination Open Original Shared Link
  23. The Abbster is a quick learner. just sayin... I do think you are being a bit worrisome for no good cause about this, though, hon. I buy produce in the supermarket even though there is an in-store bakery. No problem. Our biggest concern is not the produce. Itchy Abby: I will not buy veggies at on market in town because their bakery is right...
  24. Still not getting my sarcasm? If I have to 'splain, it ruins my punch line. Okay...".If the laminated G F menu was wiped off, it would be safer than what comes out of the kitchen." meh...not the same.
