  5. Prickly and dcns65- I wanted a saltine for my soup, too and the closest thing I found to use is Yehuda gluten-free Matzo crackers. I broke them up in my tomato soup and let them soak a bit and the taste was darn close. Just a thought!
  6. He can use the same amount of crumbs as he always has, just use gluten-free bread to make the crumbs. Some companies sell gluten-free breadcrumbs, but why pay for those? I keep the heels of our homemade bread in the freezer. Take one out, thaw and run it through a mini- chopper or food processor and season with herbs, if you like (thyme, oregano, garlic...
  7. That is pretty much what I do as well. The "shared lines" disclosure is much appreciated and I use it as a guide for myself. I know others do not worry so much about it, and that works for them, but I was very ill for so long and I handle my recovery with extra vigilance. When I do use packaged G F foods, I choose dedicated facilities. Again, that's...
  8. Sunny and 80. Looks like we'll be using the grill then. Chicken, cole slaw and grilled asparagus (which was hardier than the green beans, so they were used first .) Might make hubs some chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting--as he has toiled long and hard all week building the front porch. If I can't swing a hammer with him right now,...
  9. It was a beautiful day here, too. And oddly, I also made meatloaf, smashed potatoes (as we call them) and fresh green beans. Must have been a meatloaf kind of day on the East Coast ....
  10. Power to the People!!!

  12. well said... and Amen, brother. Everyone should use his/her best judgment, of course, but I am with PricklyPear, if it says "processed in a facility on shared equipment with WHEAT"-- I do not eat it, but that's just my preference. If it says "CONTAINS WHEAT", now, that's a given. (and just for the record,FWIW, this thread is old ) and...
  13. Pesto pizza and cucumber salad. Hubs is golfing and he gets home late. I am GLAD he goes every Friday; it's my excuse to eat PIZZA and have a glass of pinto grigio!!
  14. Thank you – She's my girl! :)

  15. Will do, honey! I have you in my thoughts.
  16. So Delicious coconut ice cream saved me when I could hardly eat anything (when I was just starting out after DX). Great stuff. And dessert before dinner is my favorite way to start a meal.

  18. This is what got me all "hot under the collar" as well.
  19. someone on that FB page wrote: " I didn't know that symptoms of Celiac's disease included being extra complainy" (it's gone now) You ass hat. A woman who says she has celiac disease said: "I can eat small amounts and not notice anything, so this is great". One more: " To all those people saying "What's the point?", not everyone...
  20. sounds like a recipe for fun to me ... (although I am more of a Bombay Sapphire COLD and up, (so FREEZING cold so the glass shivers) kind of girl. Have fun, girlfriend
  21. me too. Won't let me read it.
  22. EXACTLY. I am feeling a little grouchy about this too...
  23. They are not going to leave any negative comments! That would affect sales. I just read what you posted Sylvia and all the other comments and there are more glowing kuddos and "thank you's" than any reasonable posts from celiacs like us. One celiac even said "I do not have reactions to a little CC, so I can eat this"...wtf?? even Celiacs do not get...
  24. They know I am a gourmet cook. They have experienced my dazzling creations. But actually adopting the diet themselves? um, I am afraid hell will hold hockey games before my family members step away from the donuts, bread-coated fried foods and subway sammies. Not. Going. To. Happen. I cannot keep saying things because they get mad at me. ...
