  1. A master builder needs good tools, right? You don't need to go too crazy buying things, but the essentials really do make cooking and baking so much more fun. As you know, I am living out of boxes right now until our house is ready, and that our household is in a PODS container, but you can bet I had 2 boxes filled with my kitchen "stuff" in the car with...
  2. You need a zester, sweetie. Or you can use a very, very fine cheese grater, but you risk hitting the white pith. (that tastes yucky) You really are expanding your kitchen gadgets. I am so proud of you (omygosh, I am tearing up now) http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-622035/Microplane+Soft+Handle+Zester+Graters
  3. OOH OOH for those who get splattered by bacon grease I love these!! . Comes in two sizes AND they clean up easily (not like those stupid mesh screens) Washable and durable and they work!! = happy Irish Open Original Shared Link
  4. Sea salt and caramel gelato is heaven in the mouth.
  5. Look at this! how cute is this? Karen gets all red for her G F stuff...they have one that is shaped like a strawberry Open Original Shared Link
  6. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!
  7. In all the ways I have eaten cabbage, that's never even entered my mind. I roast every other vegetable, too. Sounds like something I need to try. Thanks for sharing, sweets! nothing like one pot, no watching, no stirring tasty goodness. OH, I have an on-going GIGANTIC REQUEST LIST I have compiled for when I visit you, babes. ...
  8. I am simply in awe of your ability to have those around and not eat them. You've had that box for what? a few weeks?
  9. We have to laugh and we have to keep each other laughing. Especially through glutenings, Thanksgiving and assorted family gatherings, family denial, asshat doctor visits, etc.. It's in the celiac/NCGS handbook.. Honest.
  10. Good luck, Peg...sounds as if you really need to step in. Something's not right if she's having DH flares. Those can only mean gluten ingestion.
  11. I know I would. OR My friend who is hosting is making the turkey. No stuffing. That's my job. Nothing will touch that turkey. I even gave her a New baster. People keep those plastic basters for 37 years. I was glutened by basting my first G F Thanksgiving, (it was at my sister's house and even though she made me my own unstuffed turkey, but...
  12. Yes, I am hilarious. and I'm sorry, what were we talking about? see, I got glutened last week and.............
  13. I almost just spit my tea all over this laptop, thanks. Yes. Gluten - the new crack. Makes us batshyte crazy.
  14. I am afraid I cannot agree with this at all. Half the stuff I know about celiac?... has not come from "someone's analysis/thoughts" And this is not about "celiac". Talking about variables in a diagnosis is one thing (and truly irrelevant to this discussion about a product) Saying something is a fact based on someone's theory is another...
  15. Great minds again. LOL That's the second time this week. Those are the silicon mitts I have and linked to above. (sur la table has a pair for 19, I think) Those red mitts are awesome, aren't they??
  16. But that "run-off" statement.....That's a thought a former member expressed, not a fact. The run off chocolate may have been used to coat the gluten containing chocolate bars too, at least that was the theory from what I have read.
  17. If by "everything", he means your health history, well, yes. Gluten is to blame. But if by "everything", he means you blame gluten for the glitch-filled obamacare website, the stupid twerking fad, the blown call in the Patriots game, etc etc...then, you have to stop doing that. (it may be true, but we can't prove it)
  18. You could print off that article I linked to. Tell her all celiacs all over the world are doing a refresher course ? (probably shouldn't lie to one's Ma, I know) No offense to celiac association support groups, in general, but when I learned from my GI doctor (who is on the advisory board of a local celiac group ) that the doctor who guest -spoke to...
  19. No one in my family has a gall bladder left. It was the first of several organs I lost. I read what you wrote and my first thought is Two parents with celiac...maybe a totally gluten-free home is not a bad idea. I am sure you had her tested, correct? and my second thought was You'd have to eat a boatload of cookies to get up to the level that...
  20. I have never heard of this before. Is this something the company has shared on its website?
  21. I had to figure out what that meant, too. At first I though Col meant "hot pants". ohh lala "Hot pads" for Bella meant she jumped up on the wood stove. ONCE. yeah, that was all it took. Poor kit. You guys should get these! These are what THIS lucy GIRL has been given by the hubs. I could handle toxic waste with these suckers. Open Original Shared...
  22. I used Digest Gold Enzymes for the first year after DX. They helped me a lot!
  23. Sure, why not? I'm blaming a recent one I had....for everything.
  24. Wanda Sykes--hilarious! Celiac is an auto-immune disease, not an allergy really, but yes, some of us do have other food intolerances. Often, they resolve after the gut lining is healed. So, keep that in mind. And yes, some people do have IgE-mediated allergies in addition to celiac, but that's not the norm. Some people who thought they had multiple...
  25. I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever, I promise, but I have had great success with Custom probiotics multi-strain. Open Original Shared Link The article link I posted earlier in the thread explains why celiac guts need them. The website for Custom ProBs also has several articles you can read. I see they are now available for sale...
