I am trying to figure out which blood testing to get, I talked to my doc and he doesn't directly do blood testing anymore so I would be working directly with a lab (I order the test, they draw the blood then tell me results).

I hope it is ok to post this here, there are different ones offered, all blood tests:

It is through requestatest .com search for celiac and the list comes up.

1) Tissue Transglutaminase, IgA Testing

(Tests for: Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG), IgA)

2) Tissue Transglutaminase, IgG Testing

(Tests for: tTG, IgG)

3) Celiac Disease Panel

(Tests for: Endomysial Antibodies, Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) Antibodies, Total IgA)

4) Celiac Disease Antibody Screen

(Tests for: Deamidated gliadin IgA; tissue transglutaminase IgA; serum IgA quantitation)

5) Celiac Complete Panel

(Tests for: Deamidated gliadin IgA & IgG, tissue transglutaminase IgA & IgG, serum IgA quantitation)

6) Tissue Transglutaminase Tests, IgA and IgG,

(Tests for: tTG, IgA and tTG, IgG)

IMHO number 5, the complete panel would be the one to go with.

Yeah I was betting that would be the best one.

I wonder would the Celiac Disease Antibody Screen also be a good one? I know that one is missing the IgG. Isn't that the antibody that some people produce only that one and not the IgA? The cost looks a little less scary on that one vs the Celiac full panel, but then again the full panel might catch something the antibody screen does not.

The following are the celiac specific blood tests:

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG

Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA

Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA

Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG

Total Serum IgA

In my town, they only offer #3.

I'd go with #5 plus B, D, K, Copper, Feritin, Iron and Zinc.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
