ARCHIVED Marble Rolling Pins
Lisa replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sometimes you have to make your own judgement calls. I feel that MOST things can be washed well with soap and water. If I owned a roller, it would be marble as it would help keep the batter/dough cool as well as easily washed. Before your kids, or other kids delve into the gluten free play dough, ask that they wash their hands well (perhaps with supervision... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Meds From Va?
Lisa replied to GlutenGator's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes. And I do think they can flag your account as gluten fee as well. I know my pharacist personally and she always verifies for me. It helps to know your people. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Meds From Va?
Lisa replied to GlutenGator's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This might be helpful. Scroll down to find a list of gluten free drugs/meds by alphabetical listing: Open Original Shared Link If you don't find it there, your phamacist, not the techs, can contact the manufacturer for you, if you say 'please'. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Waffles
Lisa replied to MindytheOrganist's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If using a shared toaster oven, I would wash and scrape the top tray, clean. I use a shared toaster oven daily. The top shelf is mine, the bottom is his. He is very careful and I am. It seems to work out. Van Waffles are my daily breakfast wih peanut butter and marmalade. You could smoosh and pan fry, throw an egg on top...with bacon, eggs, peppers... -
ARCHIVED Kraft Cheez Whiz
Lisa replied to Billi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey gilligan-- Here is 'My" personal theory. When my Celiac was triggered, it also triggered a lactose intolerance that remained after healing. When I removed the gluten for some time (months), I could still react to the lactose specifically. I kept it out of my diet for several weeks, yet now, almost ten years later, I can handle some in slim moderation... -
ARCHIVED Dish Soap
Lisa replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey MsBella - Welcome to the forum. We all have been in your shoes. Like "holy moly" (not my choice of words, but whatever) Every thing seems to fall apart and your world gets crazy. My advise to you is to take things a step at a time. Eat cleanly, with fresh fruits, veggies, un-preseasoned meats or seafood, rice or potatoes. There is much to choose from... -
Sweet Baby Ray's Bbq Sauce
Lisa replied to cmbajb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Deanna - I have used Sweet Baby Ray's for years. I've been gluten free for almost ten years. Caramel color is no longer considerend an issue and safe to consume. Modified food starch (unless it's emphasized or followed by "wheat", by law) is generally corn. All of Sweet Baby Ray's are gluten free. I do think they contain HFCS which does bother me in... -

ARCHIVED Can't Take Much More!
Lisa replied to JediMindTricks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well...I would think that it would be worth your time to revisit your gluten free diet and make 100% sure you are eating *clean* on the diet. It took me several months to master the diet in 2005, so it's not so easy to begin and to learn all the ins and outs. Begin simply with meats, fish, fresh veggies, eggs, rice and potatoes and fresh fruit. Stay... -

"The Other Woman" is a great name for a sailing blog. I have seen one or two boats by that name. A gentleman's ship is truely a mistress. Um, maybe a good thing? -
ARCHIVED Ate Gluten Accidentally, But Didn't React! Why?
Lisa replied to katiehammond's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As you ordered from the gluten free menu, it is possible that your chicken was fried or sauteed in Rice Flour. P.F. Changs does the same using rice flour, and lightly dusts the chicken, for several of their gluten free dishes. But, yes, sometimes... often times, things are just a mystery. -
ARCHIVED Do I Have Celiac?
Lisa replied to Herreralovv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Pregancy can be a trigger for those who may be predisposed to Celiac. Do you have a family history (parents or other family members) of digestive issues, diabetes, thyroid or other autoimmune disorders? Sometime, as my parents would say "a bad stomach" could be a genetic trait you may have inherited. As mentioned, the Celiac Blood Panel would be less... -
Most social events, I do eat before I go...just in case. I would include a personal note with your reply card... " I am required to be on a medically prescribed diet. May I be contact your caterer as to my selection of meals. Thank you and we are looking forward......"?

Lisa replied to rene83's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Well said. Thank you. -
Hi Nancy and welcome as well. There are some pretty good pasta's out there now. I like Sam Mill's or Hartland Pasta (Walmart). I don't usually buy Ragu, but I do know that all Classico Pasta Sauces are gluten free. Often times you can find your answer on line. Google *Ragu Pasta Sauce - Gluten free* And, Ragu is owned by Unilever, whose...

ARCHIVED Holy Molybdenum Batman. Eating Out gluten-free Is Hard

What I'm trying to say to you, is that you cannot depend on other people to keep you healthy. You need to depend on yourself. Educate yourself and choose wisely. You can do this! -
ARCHIVED Holy Molybdenum Batman. Eating Out gluten-free Is Hard
Lisa replied to rene83's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
rene83, I would not leave my health to the knowledge to a concession attendant or movie manager. Did you ask to read the ingredients on the oil that the popcorn is cooked in? Or look at the ingredients in the salted butter, or butter oil? Did you see any gluten containing ingredience? I don't mean to be bossy or insulting, but you can't depend on others... -
ARCHIVED Holy Molybdenum Batman. Eating Out gluten-free Is Hard
Lisa replied to rene83's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
In eight years, I have never experienced a Movie Theater Popcorn that containes gluten or any salts or butter salt. Perhaps you should not make such generalizations, without documentation. I am not familiar with your other claims. Have you specifically contacted the restaurants that you have listed, to the contents of their products, or are your statements... -
ARCHIVED Two Weeks In - Crying My Eyes Out!
Lisa replied to MxMyownsummer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please remember that everything you eat, even though it's gluten free, will run through your body, until you heal. When the gluten is removed, your intestines will heal. It takes time and dedication to heal. Keep in mind that the goal is to be healthy and feel good. And every step is working toward that. There are slow steps and we all make mistakes...- 7 replies

ARCHIVED Newbie Flundering And Freaking Out About Cc
Lisa replied to debrabenge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
...and that's why we are here to help! Welcome Now...take a deep breath. I would not put such concern to cross contamination at this point. Concentrate on your food, with a few precautions in the preparation. Think of gluten as a "crumb". It's not a germ or a virus. Most cooking untensil and pots and pans can be cleaned well. I would discard... -

Singulair is listed as gluten free on www.glutenfreedrugs.com. What is the name of your generic version? If the generic version is not safe, inform your phamacist that you have intolerant issues to the generic. If the ingredients are not safe for you, he/she can contact your doctor and re- prescribe a version that will be safe. My CVS phamacists...
