"Acceptance is the Key to Happiness." Best fortune cookie ever!

  1. Listen to Squirmingitch - she is our resident expert. She really knows her dh stuff! I don't know as much so I'll just wish you luck on finding answers fast.... and welcome to the board.
  2. She only had one celiac disease test done, and that test, the tTG IgA, can miss up to 75% of celiacs. Plus she did not have the total serum IgA done, which is a must for determining if the IgA based celiacs tests (tTG IgA, DGP IgA, etc.) are accurate. Approximately 1 in 20 celiacs is deficient is IgA (compared to approx. 1 in 700 of the regular population...
  3. If she is not eating anything while there, or walking through a flour dust cloud, then it is most likely not celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS. for which there is no test. That disease and sensitivity are triggered by consuming gluten, meaning it has to get inside and onto your mucus membranes. Celiacs can handled normal baked goods...
  4. I doubt there would be a risk of cc... I suppose it could be possible. If you are worried, wipe the tip of the tube before using it.
  5. Yep, some foods just bother some people. For me, it is raw apples and pears. It causes a raw strong pain that feels like gluten would, but it is a completely unrelated reaction. It's just a food that doesn't agree with me. I too think it's odd that a nutritionist would warn you about grapes unless you had already complained that grapes bother you?
  6. I agree that your meals are high in starches (which gets changed to sugar in the body) and that will cause your blood sugar to go up and down dramatically. It sounds like hypoglycemia to me too, perhaps being affected by low blood pressure too. Perhaps switch to whole or 2% milk, get yogurt at 9% fat instead of 1-2%, and try adding more meats or nuts so...
  7. I hear you! If I drink wine I turn into Rudolf within minutes!
  8. I agree. If there was no gluten in sourdough it wouldn't have that typical springy bread texture. There's gluten in it. Don't be fooled.
  9. I'm glad nothing is too high for you, but that almost works against you because nothing is as clear cut. I hope that MRI goes well and there is no sign of a pituitary adenoma. Let me know how the OGTT GH suppression test and the MRI goes. I hope they clear you of any problems and your abnormal labs were just an unexplained blip like mine.
  10. This article discusses how hypothyroidism can cause lower IGF-1 so I assume it would go up if one was hyper (which I was when I first started natural desiccated thyroid hormones). http://www.clinchem.org/content/50/1/228.full And another: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1365-2265.1987.tb00842.x/abstract?deniedAccessCustomisedMessage=&userIsAuthenticated...
  11. Hi Caturday, I was tested for acromegaly using the glucose tolerance test for growth hormone supression. Those with acromegaly don't suppress (usually) their GH after the sugar drink and I did so it is assumed I don't have acromegaly. I don't have a lot of sympytoms, and the ones I do have are really mild and vague - it could be attributed to other things...
  12. (((Hugs))) When it rains it pores. :( Hang in there. It sounds like you are working hard to get this all sorted out. I hope you are healthy again soon.
  13. You can also by (olive) oil sprayers/squirters in stores that sell kitchen gadgets.
  14. I love smoothies for plying my kids with nutrition. I add carrots and peeled cucmbers to fruits to make it better. I also always add hemp seeds/hearts for extra fat and protein. When I use chocolate protein powders I can slip in more greens like avocado or spinach and the chocolate hides the green colour. LOL Cool is nice too.... especially f it is...
