I think the idea of it is good. I think there is probably a need for people who specialize in Celiac Disease and gluten sensativity but I think this should be the field of a person trained in gastroentorelogy and nutritionists, not a chiropractor trained in a chiropractic nutrition school.

I find it sort of amusing how Chiropractors want to be taken seriously then do things like this and tell people they can cure all sorts of diseases that we know it isn't possible to do in chiropractic medicine.

My chiropractor thinks this is all a giant scam. He would never, ever think to "diagnose" anyone. He fixes backs. Period.

Ok, here is basically what DR. Fasano (a real, live celiac expert!! )  said at the gluten-free Living Conference on Saturday....

He said "there are a frenzy of so-called experts out there on the internet", but they are not experts.

There are still NO VALID TESTS FOR NCGS, but they will use the "tests" at Cyrex labs to tell you what you want to hear.

And I have looked up all of "dr.tom's" various credentials he lists....he is not qualified to do anything except fix backs, too.

Does this mean I am not getting $72.92 from you? :)

Yup, I know a couple of chiropractors that would never go this route and now what they are good at and what they can treat. Still, this makes the good ones look pretty bad.

well, I do owe you some serious $$ for accepting all those dares I have thrown at you...but that's another issue.

I'd like to note that the CYREX test page says:

"These tests are not currently available outside of the United States, nor in the State of New York."

hmmm ...since when did NYS get so savvy about things?? :D

You think so, really? Because I don't think so.

I think it just makes the ones who suggest they are  diagnosing "NCGS" obvious charlatans.

Well, if you don't know any good chirpractors and you're a person with celiac disease and reading this I think it probably makes chiropractors, in general, look bad.

Sorry, I just do not see that as a logical conclusion, I'm afraid. A few chiropractors who have branched out into this "field" does not make all "chiropractors, in general look bad". It's a non-sequitor.

No, not just for this alone. There are a lot of people already suspicious of chiropractors because of some of the things that some of them claim they can treat.

The small number of celiacs a chiropractor would encounter is probably not going to make much difference. I'm just saying it's another thing for people be suspicious of. There is a reason why most MDs are very much against chiropractic medicine and it is because of some of the things Chiropractors are taught in school. Some of the schools teach chiropractors that they can treat neurologic diseases, infectious diseases....ect when it has never been shown that the methods work or are even safe. I know this because a friend of mine is a chiropractor and I remember him telling me all this stuff while he was in school.

So, I just think it's another reason some people will be suspsicious. It is sort of like this band fraud stuff, most bankers/financial analysts might be perfectly good people and do things write but a small number of them doing bad things makes everyone look bad to some people.

I'm not saying I think all chiropractors are bad or not trustworthy just that when things like this happen there are going to be a number of people who will lump chiropractors as a whole in the same group as being "suspicious". It happens all the time, with other things, and I'm just stating how it tends to go over.  For instance, there are people out there that might think people of a certain race, religion...ect that are in general "bad' people. It obviously isn't true but that is what these people think. I just think there are a lot of people who do not use logic when they get these impressions and thus they come to the illogical conclusion that a few bad apples makes the whole tree bad.

Who are "these people"? You have to give the readership here the benefit of the doubt and let them see what's being discussed.

I hope we can agree that anyone who generalizes about an entire profession, race of people, religion or ANYTHING.... based on the actions of SOME people? ...is not very wise.

And if I had that kind of narrow thinking, I'd have never set foot in a doctor's office again... or tasted wine ever again after trying something called "Boone's farm apple" when I was 13 or...gotten married again (because one lousy husband does not mean they all are) or,  or .... See my point?

And I am pretty sure the expression is "one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch".  :)

So let's keep the discussion on the "charlatans" and agree that they do not represent the chiropractic profession as a whole.

OK, not sure why the attack here. Seriously, it's a little over thet top.

Now, like I said, I don't agree that judging any group as a whole based on the actions of a few is right to do but anyone who pays any attention to what goes on in the world knows there are a lot of people who do just that.

Eitherway, my intent isn't to make chiropractors look bad. I'm just saying that it doesn't help to have another thing that people will generalize about. You might not think that way. I might not think that way, but it happens all the time.

Hon, having a conversation with someone who takes a different view from yours does not constitute an "attack".

(using that word for what I have said....is over the top) This is a forum where people discuss issues. I was discussing with you.

Quite honestly, the snottyness was dripping in the post and I picked that up. I'm all for a conversation but you seem to be making it out that I'm against chiropractors when it is quite obvious in my posts that I'm not. Maybe what I picked up from your post wasn't you having an attitude but that's the way it came off to me.

I really don't know what your arguement against what I said is, it makes no sense. I'm simply stating that there are bad chiropractors, people see them and will make assumptions. It is incorrect to make that assumption be we all know people do it all the time and this is just another thing people will make assumptions about.

um.  I think y'all are on the same team, anyway, lolz.  I have a good chiropractor who cracks my back and neck.  I have a gastroenterologist for my celiac..  totally different parts of the body...  otherwise, we would just roll around in our food when we're hungry....   naked :o

but I digress.  if there are 'gluten specialists' they should probably start with the correct part of the body  ^_^

I said nothing of the sort. I said no people will automatically ASSUME that about ALL chiropractors. I never said you were against all chiros, now did I? NOPE.

Read what I wrote again. Thanks.

The last thing anyone would call me is a snot, :)  Sorry you do not like my replies.

Well, might be the internet. Sometimes online communication doesn't go over well, between the poster and reader malfunction on one or both sides. I think we may have been talking past each other and that may have been the issue.

If you mean no offense, I accept that and apologize if I offended you.

Actually...... The doll comes with the Deluxe package of 3 payments of $29.99. Or you can order it separately for just $34.99 plus S&H.
