Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

Julie-

This is the lotion I use too!!!!!!!!!! I love it !!! I use the unscented one . I used to use their bubble bath too, also amazing but now i pretty much avoid anything with fragrance. Between this lotion and kiss my face olive oil soap (also really good) that is my beauty regimen.

Hi Julie and Mia :D

Do either of you know the source of the vitamin E in the Alba lotion? I sent them an email, but it could take 7-10 days, according to them, to answer.

It looks very nice, and I've been looking for a new moisturizer.

Carla, I do lots of yoga. Not only is it great exercise, but it works all the muscles, increases oxygen flow throughout the body, improves flexibility, AND releases TOXINS!! You can't lose with yoga :D If I didn't have all this edema and inflammation I would be all toned muscle, sigh....

Yoga is a good exercise .... I just like weight lifting better, LOL. I do some yoga for 5 or 10 minutes at the end for flexibility, etc. I start out with cardio (elliptical). I'm working out pretty hard lately. :) I don't seem to have a lot of inflammation, so I'm pretty muscular .... hopefully, that will happen soon for you, too. :)

In the past couple weeks I have noticed that I don't look so "deflated" .... I don't think I'm having the muscle wasting (as fast as I'm building) problem anymore. I'd bet it has to do with getting rid of that tapeworm! I'm not having to eat as much either. I have color back in my face.

I have some good news to report. I'm going to start the iron IV's on Monday.

PRAY ALL GOES THE WAY WE WANT!!! My mom is so close to calling the LLMD's office, if one thing goes wrong, I'm worried she won't call!!!

It sounds like things are working well for you now. :) I'll pray that you see an LLMD soon. :)

My daughter seems to be going through "precocious puberty" or early puberty.

I don't have experience with this.... I don't know if you can reverse it (???).

I have never had my kids drink milk (unless it's organic, but even then it's not a regular thing, but a treat). I only buy organic, no-hormone meat (when I couldn't afford it, we ate vegetarian).

We also avoid processed food, though my kids eat it for lunch and snacks ....

Chloe is 14 and hasn't started yet ... Morgan wasn't regular till she was 18 -- for her it would come and go based on her sports season. My 12 year old hasn't started developing in any way whatsoever.

Estrogen is fat soluble, so when Morgan was in the middle of a sports season, her periods would end, then come back when the season ended.

I think it's highly tied to body fat because of the estrogen. Of course, I haven't seen your daughter, but maybe there's an idea in there for you somewhere. :)

When I took Chloe to the LLMD, he asked if I was also late to start .... so I guess 14 is late these days. :( I actually think 9 is pretty normal, as Andrea said.

Well, I ended up taking a nap at about 8.00 and I do NOT recommend that to anyone...lol! I was so tired I couldn't walk upstairs, so I slept on the couch and now...ugh. I have read every thread on LN and I am still wide awake..lol.

Let's hope this seemingly new problem of insomnia will go away eventually. It's killing me. Oh, did I mention I took these stress things that always used to make me sleep for almost 16 hours, and I'm still wide awake. LOL!!!

Let's hope for a positive test! That would save you a lot of trouble. :)

Sorry about the insomnia .... I know how difficult it is. I totally rely on sleeping pills right now. I was hesitant to start them, but I'm loving it.

Does something like Benadryl make you sleep? I know some take that to help with insomnia.

Yes, actually I do. I am fluent in Mandarin, spoken and written. I type Chinese, but because I don't practice everyday, I blank out when I go to write characters unless I look it up to remind me. Lyme brain doesn't help!

Hey all you insomniacs...too bad I had a full busy day or I could have chatted with you all!

Wow! Did you learn Mandarin before you went over there or did you learn it there? How long were you there before you became fluent in it?

I spent a summer in Mexico, but had a lot of American friends, so got semi-fluent in Spanish. I think it would have taken just a few more months to have felt like I was completely fluent. I understood everything, but had too small a vocabulary. I still understand better than 90% of Mexican Spanish, but I have trouble enough with English word recall! LOL

In fact, I was describing my language problems last night to someone and compared it to when you are learning a language and you can't remember a word you should know ....

Just a personal side-note, speaking of other countries .... our son is going to spend next year working with an order of priests in another country and put off college for a year. I'm really happy about it as it will be the experience of a lifetime, he will definitely mature and develop a stronger spiritual life, and hopefully be more ready for college next year. I think it's a really good move for him .... he doesn't study or apply himself now, so I think college would be a disaster for him. He's not quite as mature as our Kassandra and Birdy. :)

Ami,

I'm so sorry you're going through all this. My heart goes out to you.

Kassandra,

Yay on the iron IV! Do you know what type (brand) they're going to give you? Venofer seems to cause fewer reactions in people and there's no need for pre-meds or steroids to be given at the same time. Fingers crossed for your test results today!

April,

Wow! 7 is so young! Hormones seem to be in everything these days, even the water. Hope you get some answers soon.

Jin,

Yeah, how'd the appt go yesterday?

Sarah,

I'm with you. Want to quit smoking. Seriously. Can't seem to get past the 6-week mark tho. Every time I've tried quitting, its like I come down with a flu that lasts until I start smoking again. Ugh! I'm so tired of the expense, the smell, the being bound to a stupid paper tube with shredded leaves in it. Oh yeah, and the health implications too. :)

-----------

Getting yet more blood testing done tomorrow. Have to be on a salt fast today because they're testing my aldosterone and electrolytes. The last time, the aldosterone was really high, even though I salt fasted. Oddly enough, my blood pressure is fine.

Also getting LH and FSH tested. Should have had both done last time, but they only did the LH (which was really high - could be the PCOS). The testing is supposed to be done on the 4th day of my cycle, but once again this year, am going through "seasonal menopause". Called the dr and he said to get the testing done anyway and we'll figure it all out once the results come back. This is the third autumn in a row where my periods have stopped. Everything usually goes back to normal in February. I'm seeing a new holistic MD in Dec who specializes in female hormones, so we'll see what she has to say. Gotta say, I'm tired of it. Wish my body would just make up its mind.

Getting an abdominal ultrasound done next week as well. GI thinks its my gallbladder. Hope I don't get the same u/s tech as last time. She was absolutely no fun whatsoever. I know these tests aren't supposed to be "fun" but, after so many, ya gotta find amusement in it somewhere.

Have to talk to the new doc about getting my ferritin and vit D tested again too. Levels haven't been checked since June! Also probably should get my thyroid antibodies checked again, as its been 6 months. These drs don't seem to do much unless I'm riding their bony little azzes. Thinking I might take a whip to my next appt and maybe they'll get the point. :P

She is very thin. She is about 35 lbs. I have read that the more weight a kid has, the more estrogen they could be storing, but she has no fat!

She has a pediatric endocrinologist appt on Dec 14th, so maybe i'll get some answers.....

Aw Ami, you'll be in my prayers today! My mom had to have two or three D&Cs...other than needing a little rest afterwards, she came out okay for all of them.

Kassandra, hope all goes according to plan!!!

Sorry, no experience with the "early" puberty. I started my periods at 11, but that was MANY years ago, lol.

Yeah, Jin, how'd it go, lol.

My Mom got a book out of the library today about making your own scented soaps, bath salts, and bath oils! As a person whose never been able to tolerate many chemicals I got so excited! Guess what people are getting for Christmas from me? :P I'll post the name of the book when I hunt it up again.

Ooooh, sounds like fun! :)

Let's hope this seemingly new problem of insomnia will go away eventually. It's killing me. Oh, did I mention I took these stress things that always used to make me sleep for almost 16 hours, and I'm still wide awake. LOL!!!

You know, mine is FINALLY getting a little better. I still have some nights, like Tuesday night, were I just can't sleep, but overall, it's getting better. It seemed to get better after the neurotransmitters were tested, and they supplemented me for the specific imbalances. I'm fairly certain the imbalances are caused by the lyme or metals, but at least the supplements help get them a bit more balanced.

GAH! I did the same thing! It's in the wee hours of the morning here, I actually slept a full 8 hours on the couch! Now I'm doing laundry and making cupcakes at 3:30am.

Been sitting here reading and listening to Xmas songs. I think its the music getting me all happy and in the holiday spirit. :)

I am SOOOO much more in the Christmas spirit than I was last year. I think it's because I'm not sick and I'm actually feeling pretty good these days. Still, I'm not eating peas and beef in the middle of the night. Congratulations on getting your phone...the world is right again!

This is so upsetting! She is too young!!!

It's hard enough to worry about our own health, but sheesh, it must be horrible to watch your child go through this stuff!

But I found one site that said no free fats, all vegetarian, then this: soak hands in hot water for 20 min 4 times a day and then work on stretching them. Hmm. If I didn't do anything else maybe. But with my work schedule plus all the other health routines, this is not very practical. Even once a day would be a challenge.

...

Also, Donna, your exclamations about the website having those yucky pictures made me curious. So I had to go take a look. I agree! It is hard to believe people's intestines would retain all that! Goodness, no wonder people have symptoms! I think about the long term constipation that I have dealt with, read on that website and really have to wonder.

So what is it about the soaking...is it the heat or is it the combo of heat and moisture. I've seen some heated hand wraps...the fingers are open, so you can still do stuff, but the wrist and palm areas are heated. I wonder if that would work?

Yeah, and that website makes me wonder to...I'm on day 4 of the Humaworm, and other than what I saw on the first day, I haven't seen much of anything else...I'm wondering if I should have done the colon cleanse instead, lol. Although I had a colonoscopy last year and doc said my colon looked squeaky clean.

What a great experience! I wish I had taken advantage of some of the things like this when I was in school, lol.

Good luck with the ultrasound! I had to have two kinds and the second one wasn't much fun (internal), lol.

Donna,

Thanks! You mean the trans-vag? I was like "you want to put what where???" A warning ahead of time would have been nice. It'll be my 7th ultrasound since the beginning of the year - 4 for thyroid, 2 for girlie stuff, and now this one. At least I won't have to go in with a full bladder. :)

What is ASYRA testing? I have been searching and searching and can't find anyone who does LED treatments here in Charlotte, NC. How old is your daughter?

My daughter will be 8 the end of December. I think it's much too young too!

I don't know how widespread ASYRA is. I can find what I have on it and pm it to you......I just did a search for ASYRA when I was looking for info. If you find someone who does LED then you'd probably find someone who does ASYRA or muscle testing. ASYRA runs through the currents of the body and finds what is out of balance. It minimizes the need for extensive muscle testing and only takes a few minutes.

How come you had to stop the gentle detox?

As toxic as this world is getting I'm not surprised puberty is starting younger.......but it's so sad. :( I've read of some 2 year olds going through periods. Our neighbor girl is a couple years older than my daughter and she's started plumping up this last year. It's so annoying how you go from toothpick to not a toothpick so fast when starting through puberty.

I'll keep you in mind for commisserating with. From what I've read my daughter will probably be about a year away from starting.

Also, Donna, your exclamations about the website having those yucky pictures made me curious. So I had to go take a look. I agree! It is hard to believe people's intestines would retain all that! Was than Dr. Kaplan? I forget the name.

That sounds like it will be a good experience for him. I know some of teens have done mission type things where they go to a foreign country for a time....up to a year. They've always commented on how much they've learned.

Sounds like your diet has helped your girls alot. I've read that the age of puberty is usually the same as the mothers.......not so too much today unfortunately. I was 12 or 13....I forget.

Boy oh boy do you have a lot coming up! I hope you don't have problems with your gallbladder. Jin had hers out so she'd know more on that end.

I hope these tests give you some answers.

Ok, need to vent somewhere. I'm upset, POed, scared, and now stress eating (which is baaad).

Just got my thyroid biopsy results back. Idiot doctor mailed them instead of calling me, so I had to call his office with questions and the receptionist is playing go-between. Turns out the biopsy came back suspicious for a follicular neosplasm, which is a kind of tumor. This can be benign or cancerous, but they won't know for sure until the blasted thing is taken out and thoroughly examined.

I've been fighting surgery since day 2. Day 1 I thought about it and decided that surgery really wasn't a first option.. or second.. or third. I've since been doing iodine supplmentation to try to reduce the nodule size (it was benign on the last biopsy). It hasn't gotten very much smaller. I've been doing everything I can to avoid losing a body part (and get a lifelong scar as an added bonus).

Gah! I want to scream! Cry! Howl at the moon! I'm so frustrated! I'm not looking for sympathy. Just need to get this out of my system.

I hear you on stress eating. :(

Is there anyway you could get in with a holistic MD. That way you'd have the benefit of someone who will use alternative medicines but also someone who can test outside the mainline stuff.

I would think something is going on within your body to be causing your health problems.

Everyone,

Well, I finally got to sleep at about 2.30 (I think). I wanted to make these almond joy things (raw) but I would have had to use the food processor and my mom would have killed my because it's so loud! I wish I could have made cupcakes...lol. :P

It turns out the PICC line will be covered 80/20 up to $5,600. Lets just hope it's not crazy expensive for us. We pay the 20%. Now, we just have to get the Dr. to write a script.

Carla,

That sounds like a great option for your son. From what you've told me, it sounds like he needs some maturing. ;)

That's really cool about Spanish, I am taking Spanish right now, and I don't like it at all. I really liked Mandarin though. For a while I used to answer my Spanish teacher in Mandarin! lol!

Sherry,

I am so jealous! I actually had a private tutor 2-3 days a week when I lived in NZ. She was AMAZING! She used to teach English in China at one of the big Universities, so she was able to teach me really well. In only 6 months, I was almost fluent. I could go to a restaurant and order for my parents...it was really cool. I could write, read and speak. B)

I assumed nobody would be awake at that time...I forgot about the time change.

Nyxie,

Feel free to vent away... I hope all goes well for you!!!

Andrea and April,

I would freak out if my daughter got her period at 8 or 9!!! My mom got her period at 10, I got mine at 14 (a month after my b-day). It was the worst thing that ever happened....lol! It has caused me so much grief. Although these days, it doesn't come around anymore...too anemic.

I think of the 11 year old I babysit and there is NO way she'd be ready for that...let alone her 7 yo sister!!! Gosh, that's a scary thought!!

Also, April...I will talk to my friend who went through this and see what she says...will report back later on today.

Donna,

I am so NOT in the holiday spirit! I can't even think of going and getting gifts, especially considering Hannukah is in almost a week!! :o

Thanks for the suggestion. :) I've been seeing a holistic MD. He's retiring at the end of the year and, by his recent "misses" in ordering testing and catching test results, its probably for a good reason. He's in his 80s after all. The new doc that specializes in female hormones is in the same holistic clinic and I'll be seeing her next month. She treats other things too, but hormone-y stuff is her forte.

Right now, I'm going through the whole chicken/egg thing. Did the low iron cause the thyroid problems? Did the various food intolerances cause the low iron? Was it the food intolerances or the thyroid problems that caused the heavy menses that led to the low iron? Did the mercury cause the food intolerances? Was it my diet or the thyroid that's causing the cysts? Round and round it goes....

I'm on a ton of supplements to try to treat all this stuff, in addition to the dietary changes, which I think will probably help too. I've been taking Lugol's (iodine) to try to get rid of the cysts and to shrink the primary nodule. Its helped a little bit, but now with the biopsy results coming in, I'm kind of at a crossroads. Don't know whether to continue with the iodine or to just suck it up and get the surgery done. And I really don't want to get the surgery done.

Rachel,

How did you quit smoking? Did you use any particular method? I've been a smoker for about 12 years, and I really want to quit come the new year. I've tried many times before- it's hard!!! The closest I came was during my pregnancies, when I was down to 1 or 2 cigarettes a day. But the past month or two, I've been having mild asthma attacks, which I haven't had since I was a kid... Having them almost every day now. :(

Sarah,

I meant to answer this last night.

It wasnt easy for me to quit. I think I made it my New Years resolution several years in a row but could never do it. It was such a habit....I didnt know what to do with myself if I couldnt have a cigarette.

I was also in a 10 year relationship with another smoker...so that made it even more difficult to quit. My best friend smoked too.

Nothing about the smoking really bothered me...I didnt notice the smell and I actually enjoyed it. I would ask other people if I reeked like cigarettes and people would say that I never had that gross smell so I felt like it wasnt really necessary to quit...and I was very healthy (or so I thought).

Then I got in another relationship and the smoking was NOT well tolerated....not that it stopped me. The reason I finally decided to make a serious effort was because I was planning on trying for a baby. I did not want to be a smoker anymore if I was going to be a mom.

I did really well and was down to only a few cigarettes a week but I was not getting alot of support. I felt like this was HUGE...and instead I was getting reprimanded for those few cigarettes I was having. I'm kind of rebellious by nature so this just made me want to go back to smoking more.

At about this same time I got 2 amalgams removed unsafely....not being aware of mercury or health risks. Right after that I started feeling gross and toxic after smoking...everything changed with my ability to handle toxins and my health spiraled downward very fast.

I could actually smell the cigarettes now and it bothered me alot and made me feel sick. I could smell it on my hand and all over my body...I had never noticed it before.

I started chewing gum instead....lots and lots of gum. The gum was just as damaging to me as the cigarettes...maybe even worse. My health continued to get worse. Finally I realized the gum had aspartame and it was causing neurological symptoms....so no more gum. I later learned about the synergistic effects between neurotoxins...mercury and other toxins like aspartame....and also how gum chewing pulls even more mercury from fillings. :(

I ended up on disability, losing my relationship, worrying about finances and being very sick with no diagnosis. Soooo...because of the stress I was smoking again...more than ever. It REALLY was affecting my health and I was getting more and more toxic. Finally, I just couldnt even handle the pain anymore. I got multiple chemical sensitivities and just one cigarette would cause me problems that would linger for days. I really had no choice but to quit at that point.

Some days...I feel like theres still smoke coming out of me.

Cadmium is one of the heavy metals that was elevated in my hair analysis...it comes from cigarettes. It also showed up as a problem in all of my alternative testing...electrodermal screening, kinesiology and ART. It was also showing up in my recent provoked urine test.

It has a synergistic effect with mercury...which is particularly damaging to the gut. I think once I had so much mercury exposure these two heavy metals wreaked havoc in my gut. :(

Suboptimal nutrient status, microbial overgrowth, food allergens, and toxins all cause inflammation of the gut. In promoting gut inflammations, these factors have additive, inter-related effects.

Mercury and cadmium bind avidly to gut membrane and are notoriously caustic to gut mucosa.

Mucosal degradation is accompanied by microbial overgrowth and production of microbial toxins. Increasing toxin accumulation can affect immune function, permeability, digestion and assimilation of nutrients, and further erode microbial balance.

So thats my story....I dont know whether or not I'd have successfully quit had this not occurred. I dont believe I would have continued to smoke if I'd gotten pregnant but I cant be 100% sure. Its soooo addicting.

I wish I didnt have to learn about these things the hard way...but I'm glad I dont smoke anymore and I cant see myself ever having another one after having gone through this. I think I'm totally over it now. I just want to be healthy again.

I also read that metals and environmentals can cause this and she has metals.

I'm sure this all has alot to do with the increased amount of toxins in our world today. Its very sad. :(

The metals I think just make it so much more difficult for our bodies to cope.

I think the sugar thing may be valid for me to some degree. But the rest, I just don't know. The no meat seems the opposite of what I need. And with no soy, protein would be a challenge with no meat.

A vegetarian diet is not recommended for a person trying to detox heavy metals. I just posted a bunch of stuff about this on another board and I'm pretty sure I've posted it here before as well.

They say there is no way to get the essential amino acids necessary for the body to detox metals from a vegetarian diet. Some Dr.'s say they have never successfully detoxed a vegetarian for that reason. They say vegetarians are more at risk for heavy metal toxicity then those who eat plenty of protein. Of course genetics and other factors are involved so its not like every vegetarian will have problems.

The complete amino acid chains are only found in protein from animal sources. This is why all the Dr.'s seem to recommend whey protein (at least the ones I've seen do). The undenatured whey contains all the essential amino acids in their original state (undamaged by processing). A vegetarian diet does not give you those same amino acids.

Rachel-

glad you got your phone back-

quick question - now that i have been getting chelation for a hwile i was thinking of getting retested for lyme adn see what happens. Any opininions?

Mia...why would you need to retest??

You had very clear and positive tests for Lyme....didnt you?? If I'm remembering correctly I thought that your urine test came back positive? I thought your Dr. had ordered a couple different tests and the results were positive...also you had alot of bands on your Western Blot.

Are you still unsure about Lyme? Have you been tested for coinfections yet?

Are you looking for more positive bands on your Western Blot after having done the chelation? I dont think it will go away without treatment...even if all metals are gone...if anything it will likely get worse if left untreated and you've chelated the metals. Also, the metals would begin to accumulate again over time if you do not treat the Lyme.

Personally, I dont think you need retesting...I think you need treatment for it.

Unless I'm confused and you never had those positive tests??

Sorry for another PLEASE HELP ME, but lets call a spade a spade here

I have been on the couch for 2 says with a cold that won't quit and on top of it all, I got a yeast infection.

Good News

I have been able to tolerate a probiotic, so I added that back

More food is staying down

Not Awesome News

I still haven't gotten my period (since I stopped the hormones for my completely normal ovaries)

I think the combination of cold+hormonal changes = yeast infection

(I have only had one other one in my life, but I am 99.9% sure here)

Besides the probiotics, anyone have any solid advice?

Thanks!

When I took Chloe to the LLMD, he asked if I was also late to start .... so I guess 14 is late these days. :( I actually think 9 is pretty normal, as Andrea said.

Yeah....something has changed in the world because all the girls are maturing very fast. I think I was about 15 when I started!!

My friend says she thinks her 10 year old is about to start. That seems so young to me....and yet according to what people are saying...10 is late now??!! WTH??

Donna,

Yeah...I had this type of ultrasound done last year. You guys recall the alien baby??

NOT FUN!!!! I did not like this procedure one bit!

It's so annoying how you go from toothpick to not a toothpick so fast when starting through puberty.

Is that suppossed to happen?? I'm still a toothpick. :(

A long time ago (before illness) I had a yeast infection and I used those Monistat suppository things and it worked really well. It happened twice and both times that stuff worked for me.

It can get so overwhelming. :(

Alot of the problems we get are actually symptoms of a deeper hidden problem. I got my thyroid destroyed with radiation because I had Graves Disease. Knowing what I know now I would never have allowed them to do that! I cant change it but I do believe it was unnecessary.

I dont think I would have ever developed autoimmune disease if not for the mercury. So many things have piled on top of that....one thing leads to another until the immune system is just totally overwhelmed. :(

I hope you dont have to get the surgury. Follow your instinct...dont rush into anything. My gut instinct was always totally against having the radioactive iodine for my thyroid. I told them there was NO WAY I was going through with it.

Then when I got sick after my amalgam removals I had so many scary symptoms. I didnt know what was going on and the Dr.'s said it was because of the Graves...that I *needed* to have that treatment to feel better. Well...obviously it didnt help....it only made things worse for me. :(
