All right, I've gone ahead and changed my av. There had best be NO SIGN of Sam Hill Man Head (crap, is that an aboriginal/First Nations name, or what??) appearing in the back of this team shot, an extra winger or forward, floating around with a sideways helmet on . . ... ...

:huh::lol:

I saw part of Oprah and was actually gonna mention it. I love the big clean-up/organizing shows. The kitchens gross me out, though.....how do people live like that??????? <pukephace>

Before I got wrapped up in the election, I was an HGTV fiend. :P

Yesterday O had Dr Oz on talking about cellulite and phat globules. That was pretty depressing...

Git it Soozle--you'll OD on it at phirst, but the novelty will wear off after a while. I go in spurts wif it--either I'm constantly watching, or not at all.

Some of the shows are just so snarkalicious--like the House Hunters or the one where the prospective buyers spend a night in a house they are considering......I always wonder who in hell would allow kids, pets....one couple had a party wif like a dozen phriends----in someone else's house :o:lol:

Exactly!

HGTV is slowly changing I noticed. Some of my favorite shows are gone and there's a slight shift to a "reality tv" feel.....reality decorating, who knew it was possible?!?!

Hope you get yer cable Susie, keeping my fingers crossed it works out this time :D

What in Sam Hill am I supposed to say? I don't know who Sam is either. A long day is coming to an end, and I am heading off to bed after this post.

Em, I changed my avatar last night. My current one is a recycled one from a couple of years ago, and shows a little p%$#@#. I don't know where your missing man image went.

Laura, that PM was incredibly rude. How can anyone say something like that?

OK< , ....THE TEACHER BLINKED EIGHT TIMES after her head was removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT really, but I got yer going.

Nope, he made a sandwich (instead of toast) hence no use of 'toasta bags'. GADS!!! The poor sod had to eat a sandwich made from UNrefreshed gluten-free bread (which in itselph IS a most heinous crime for which the teacher should lose her 'ead).......nowt suspicious in it

WHY the poo crimes I wonder??????

I can't quite put me finger on it.... but I'm almost convinced he's getting something at school, they are not inspiring confidence in me that they've got a handle on the whole gluten-free thing

e.g.....could it have been the gluten-free biscuits you sent in for him?? he had some yesterday

Errrr, NO!!!!!.....'cos they are GLUTEN FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! <sheesh!>

Anyhoo, I still want to chop their 'eads orf

Pepto's nice cuz it doesn't stop you up for days like Imodium can and it's fun for kids cuz it turns your poo funny colors! I have found it good for when I'm glutened, it's faster and helps keep the nausea down.

Phunny coloUred poo????

...don't suppose 'mustard' coloUr counts as odd or funny for a coeliac??? *sorry! TMI?*

Pink poo!!! How exciting!!

! ....immodium generally don't even slow him down if he's glutened :o ..so may get some pepto in

Accidental my A$$!!!! There was a HUGE write-in-vote campaign on my part . . . of course I was stripped of me duties when I tried to make the whole school district go gluten free . . . a little ahead of my time I think ;) . . .

Good Day, All Psilliefelders!

I am staring a Sam Hill Manhead right now, as he sits on the table near our front window (I am certain he has caused a number of the many children who walk by our house twice a day, to and from the school bus, to report to their mothers, "See that man sitting sideways in that room, there? He has NOT moved for three days! I think he may be a corpse, propped up. The lady that lives there is kinda weird. Let's call the police")...... .

:huh::lol:

Anyways, I have decided that he must become a work of art, or at least incorporated into one. I have not done a sculptural piece in a couple of years. . . . perhaps it is time. I need inspiration, so I'm waiting for the creative muse to start whispering in my ear, and pointing me toward this interesting item for a starting point.

Hey!! They taste like chicken? Janet's eaten some. . . ...well, why aren't we ALL eating aphids? A superb protein source, and they are everywhere... . .Janet, there is your answer. You've got an endless supply in yer garden . .....start saving some money and getting rid of these pests at the same time! Throw them into your casseroles, spaghetti sauce, on top of chocolate sundaes and in yer salads.....you could probably grind them up in the cuisinart and make Aphid Flour. . . .and then the fight started

#1 When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her

someplace expensive....

so, I took her to a gas station..... and then the fight started....

*********************************************************

#2 I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for

$10.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her

the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.

And that's when the fight started.

************************************************************************

#3 After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for

Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's

license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had

left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I

would have to go home and come back later.

The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'.

So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That

silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my

Social Security application..

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the

Social Security office.

She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten

disability, too'

And then the fight started.....

***********************************************************************

#4 My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion,

and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat

alone at a nearby table.

My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to

drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she

hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on

celebrating that long?'

And then the fight started.....

***********************************************************************

#5 I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the

road and slowly the other driver got out of his car.

You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things

just seem funny?

Yeah, well I couldn't believe i t.... he was a DWARF!!!

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'

So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'

And that's how the fight started.....

************************************************************************

# 6 I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took

my order first.

'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.'

He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?'

' Nah, she can order for herself.'

And that's how the fight started.....

Yes, well, that's what we have been told, probably ever since the different types of cholesterol were identified. It's what most of our primary care providers are still telling us, it's what the commercials tell us. But researchers (up until now at any rate) have been learning a great deal about HDL. Nevertheless, the universe of what we still don't know about HDL is vast. And since I can sustain only a 35% level of understanding when I hear lectures on HDL, I will have to nutshell my layperson's understanding, which is that at this time, it's possible or likely that HDL-C levels are best understood as U-shaped, that there's a sweet spot right there in the dip of the "U" and anything before or after is not ideal. This is why I said what I did earlier about the "good" and the "bad" being oversimplifications. The research has long since moved on. There's a lot of talk about how the focus should be on functionality, that you want to make sure that all that HDL is performing how it should be. And now, that's it, I've exhausted my ability to explain my understanding of HDL!

Hi, I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter..I would say she has had tantrums since even before she was a year old. Challenging but not extreme. Lately, her behavior had gotten extreme. Just so angry, yelling mean hateful things, completely defiant, was causing a lot of disruption in our house, I felt like I had lost the little girl I knew, we were baffled.   Something just didn’t seem right to me, I have been researching and read about how gluten can sometimes affect kids behavior. I took her off gluten a week ago tomorrow. The next couple days after I took her off gluten the days were much easier. About 4 days in she had one of the worst days I’ve seen her have tho. I kept on with it tho and the past two days she has been angelic. Is this common that if it is gluten that she could still have a bad day like that a few days after taking her off of it? Should I try to reintroduce it at some point to see if it’s really a gluten intolerance? I’m not gonna lie, if she continues with the great behavior she’s had the past couple days I will probably be scared to reintroduce it but don’t want her to have to avoid gluten if it’s not necessary. Anyone have advice?

But HDL is considered to be the "good" cholesterol, right?
    • plumbago
Since some time between 2010 and 2014, my HDL-C has been going up and you might even say elevated. The last time I could find in my records that my HDL was normal was in 2014 when it was 67. Last week, it was 101, and it’s been 88 and above since about 2015. A significant life event happened in 2010 when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and in May of that year began a gluten free diet. An informal perusal of a previously posted topic on HDL on this forum shows that a lot of members responding had high normal or high levels of HDL, so it doesn’t seem to be that unusual. But because my HDL numbers have been so high for so long, I am now officially concerned enough that I will probably reach out to a cardiologist who specializes in lipids. I would like to know if I should have a genetic test, as a specific genetic mutation can be one reason for high HDL numbers. I will also ask if he/she thinks a cardiac work up including a coronary artery calcium score should be considered. I think by now most of us are done with the ridiculous good and bad cholesterol labels; the amount of what we don’t know about HDL is quite large. For me my questions include is it a matter of production or an inability to clear HDL, and are the high levels having an effect on my vasculature (or a result of a less than optimal vasculature)? My last TSH level was normal, so it's likely not a thyroid issue. I also take B12 regularly. I’ve read that niacin can cause HDL levels to go up, but B12 is not niacin, and I could find no definitive link between robust B12 supplementation and abnormally high HDL levels. Any input is appreciated! Plumbago

@Mynx, how long have you been gluten-free? I ask because many newly diagnosed celiacs react to many things, and often think their reactions are caused by gluten, when in fact, they are really caused by a combination of a sensitive gut due to damage, as well as additional food intolerance/leaky gut issues to other foods which may be temporary until their villi heal.
