  1. Hi A bunch of questions for you Charles. Did you ever go through your kitchen & get rid of & replace things like toasters, colanders, cutting boards, scratched non stick pots & pans, wooden spoons, clean out drawers & the fridge to get rid of gluten crumbs/residue? Do you ever eat out - EVER? Do you know not to kiss a...
  2. I would also turn your attention to this: https://nationalceliac.org/celiac-disease-questions/celiac-genes/
  3. How do you know that 1/3 of the U.S. population has the genes for celiac disease? Epidemiologic studies testing large numbers of normal, healthy people from the population at large have established both the prevalence of the HLA-DQ2/DQ8 genes as well as the prevalence of celiac disease (from those with highly positive tTG). 4. Feel Good Foods has a line of frozen gluten-free foods mostly with an oriental bent. My hubby has tried the egg rolls, & the General Tso's Chicken which I no longer find on their website - I hope they didn't discontinue it! Good food!
  5. Awwww, Ennis, so very kind of you but coconut is out for now too. I seem to have lost nuts (as well as my mind). I am actually trailing corn right now. Fingers crossed!
  6. It's wonderful that your dh is finally gone Tin Man!!!!!!! I had a long row to hoe too. Years not months but as you say, it WILL get better with time. Thanks for posting this. It will give hope to those who are struggling.
  7. Deeeeeeeeeee-licious stuffing! My hubby found this in the store last week. He had it today. I am having a problem with all grains right now so I can't eat it but I couldn't resist a taste b/c the aroma was driving me insane. This is really good! It's also dairy, corn & soy free. Aleias Savory Stuffing
  8. I know, it's a mind&%$&. Yes, the antibodies do linger there under the skin but not in a manner that shows in the pathology of the skin biopsy. The rules for a dh skin biopsy are the same as for celiac serum panel or endoscopic biopsy -- you MUST continue eating gluten every day until the day of the biopsy or blood draw.
  9. From: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/can-a-skin-rash-be-associated-with-celiac-disease/ "Many people with DH have no digestive symptoms and only about 40% of them have the positive blood tests (serology) for celiac disease. However, they almost always have the same, gluten-dependent intestinal damage as those with more common symptoms of celiac...
  10. Constipation IS a celiac symptom Jenna. OR a repeating roller coaster ride of constipation followed by diarrhea. So much gets "recycled" on the internet --- copy & paste, copy & paste --- that everywhere you look at info. on celiac disease it says symptoms are diarrhea, diarrhea, diarrhea almost as if the ONLY symptom is diarrhea. If you are talking...
  11. Jenna, if after 6 months, the pain in your joints doesn't go away or greatly improve then you may want to explore other AI diseases as the cause. AI diseases like to cluster. I had horrid joint pain & swelling which all disappeared after a while strict gluten-free. Then a few years later, those same symptoms reappeared plus more in addition. That was...
  12. I am so glad to hear you're doing so much better! I just want to caution you to get rabid about not getting any cross contact. Because you are on Dapsone, it is going to mask the rash which too often gives one a false sense of security b/c you can't tell when you've been glutened. So just be aware of that & don't take any chances.
  13. cyclinglady posted a perfect answer. I've been on a little break for a while & am trying to catch up a little bit. I was going to reply to jkjoller but cyclinglady said what I would have & she's done a bang up job of it!
  14. There are 6 tests in the full, current celiac serum panel. They are: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase IgA GLIADIN...
  15. Welcome to the club you never wanted to be a member of! At least we don't have to take pills, do chemo, or stick ourselves with a needle every day. Now you can start healing.
  16. Hi John, you replied to a post from 5 years ago. That person hasn't been here for years. Oh my goodness John!!! RCD2 for 6 years???!!!!! Oh you poor thing! So you say they are going to do a stem cell transplant on you? When? Please keep in touch with us & let us know how it's going. Meanwhile, hug those doggys & eat that fresh produce from your...
  17. Still, it just doesn't fit the MO for dh. If it starts itching, stinging, burning & the rash appears on the other arm in the same place then you can start wondering if it's dh.
  18. Read this Newbie 101 and follow the links contained in the threads too. It will pretty much answer all your questions. It will tell you about what to replace in your kitchen & how to read labels etc...... I use Colgate or Crest toothpaste & mouthwashes as well. I have not seen any toothpaste or mouthwash that contained gluten. Think about it...
  19. I would not suspect this as being early or mild dh. This is the only place she has this, it is not bilateral, it has not changed in a couple of weeks, it doesn't itch & there is no pain, it is not fluid filled (water filled blisters).
  20. I am guessing by the screen name that LondonJules1 is in the UK so here are links for the same or similar items in the UK. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gluten-Vital-Wheat-500g/dp/B01N6F1QXB I can't find that same bread in the UK but I found this thread of diabetics in the UK so you should be able to get some ideas from that. https://www.diabetes...
  21. Your regular primary care doctor can order the celiac blood tests. That's where you start. Who & where were you tested for gluten sensitivity? Because there is no test for that. Whoever told you they tested you for gluten sensitivity was not being truthful to you & whatever money you paid them was a waste. A person with celiac disease who...
  22. Odds are that you will be able to eat eggs again at some point. We do tend (or can) develop "other food intolerances". Most times, we get those foods back. You may have to stay off that food 6 months or even a year. Keep a food log. Sometimes you will find out that the food you thought was bothering you was, in fact, not the culprit.
