The Addictive Nature of Gluten and How to Quit Eating It (+Video)
Threecents commented on Scott Adams's article in Autumn 2025 Issue
I might have an addiction to bread, but I don't think I have an addiction to gluten. I am fine with gluten-free bread, as long as it has good taste and texture. -
Hidden Gluten: Surprising Foods and Products That May Contain Gluten
Threecents commented on Scott Adams's article in Additional Concerns
Sorry, You are 100% correct. I based my statement on two websites I saw that say they are gluten free. One says, "Haribo gummies are generally considered gluten-free, as they are made from a mixture of sugar, corn syrup, and fruit juice, with no wheat, barley, or rye in sight." The other website says, "Haribo gummy bears, manufactured in the United States...- 5 comments

Yah, there is no gluten in hand sanitizers, and if there was, the alcohol would not cause it to be absorbed through the skin. Proteins, such as gluten, are not soluble in alcohols.

As an immunologist with Celiac, I am pleasantly surprised that a T-cell test would be sensitive enough to pick up celiac in gluten-free individuals, but I am skeptical that it will be made simple enough to do in clinical labs. Concerning eyesight improvements in celiac patients who go gluten-free, I have not experienced that, and I still need glasses. One...

Diagnosed?
Threecents replied to bobandlucy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My gastroenterologist routinely requires someone come with endoscopy patients to help receive the aftercare instructions and drive the patient home, but he did not give me the Celiac diagnosis until days later in a phone message after the biopsy. I had no idea what Celiac was until I googled it after receiving my doctor's phone message. I called him the... -
Is This Silent Celiac??
Threecents replied to Anita99's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Trents, You just solved the mystery of why I my alk phos was mildly elevated for about 20 years before my diagnosis. It went down to normal after I went gluten free following my diagnosis. My gastroenterologist did not know of a link. -
Diagnosed?

I agree with Scott that you should have told your doctor right away that the high gluten diet made you sicker. Your doctor would probably advise you to immediately go back to gluten-free. You may need a lot of time gluten-free for your intestines to heal and function normally. An endoscopy will show how bad the damage is and whether it was caused by gluten... -

Are you on Fosamax (alendronate) for osteopenia? I just read that can cause metallic taste, blurred vision, and joint pain. -

Dear Confused, The endoscopy will show if you have had Celiac, as it shows both recent and long term damage to the small intestines. I am not a doctor, so I maybe way off base, but I don't think you have Celiac, but a problem with carbohydrates and alcohol. Maybe they are both metabolized into something that you are sensitive to. Perhaps you lack an enzyme... -
ARCHIVED Alkaline Phosphatase
Threecents replied to Mother of Jibril's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My Alk Phos was a little high for decades with no symptoms. Then I was diagnosed with Celiac and went gluten free. The Alk Phos dropped to normal. Now it is 72 (normal is 38 - 136). It could be coincidence.
