Candida Diet

Recommended Posts

I thought I was cutting out all carbs. Will go over everything again. Also realized that part of my problem could be my gallbladder. The amount of fats I've been eating the past few days has increased. Even if they're "good fats", my body is probably not liking it at all. Will be getting a Hida scan next month.

And apparently my body doesn't like nuts right now. While they're a no-no for the most part anyway, I thought almonds were more or less safe. Ummm...no. Not for me. I had some raw almonds which I'd soaked in the fridge overnight. Had a handful of them and became almost instantly congested. Guess its back to meat and veg from now on.

I get that sometimes its ok, sometimes it isn't thing with food too. Still haven't figured it out. For all I know, it could be tied to the phase of the moon or the level of the stock market.

alright then. thats sort of a different catch-22 then i am used to. i can't really offer any suggestions for that. though i did just read that probiotics seem to help IBD. how have you come to know it is IBD? just curious as i am ignorant to the disorder.

how does the rice make you feel? can you do other grains? i have come to an understanding that white is bad; so brown rice? which are you eating? i had multiple problems similar to other digestive disorders and noticed when i got to bare minimums, all organic nothing packaged (fish and caulflower here) that seemed to clear the other things up for the most part. but i had to go through a terrible cleansing period. not as long as the Wings' drought til Yzerman and the boys hoisted that first cup of many in '97, but you get my drift. you know...that the Wings are just the sweetest still, i guess is what i am saying here.

but seriuosly (they are...) i can't do most veggies and at first they tore me (the candida) apart.........

I only discovered it being an IBD by doing self-research. It seems that doctors are obsessed with testing me only for Celiac, nothing else. I went and bought one of the official IBD books (a Canadian one, too) and my description of symptoms fit 100%. I also read the entire chapter in diet suggestions, so that's why I've been following it. It really seems to be helping enough that I can somewhat function during the day. The other thing, I've read from a million sources that if it was just IBS (as they always accuse) you don't get that "burning" feeling or the bloody stools. And that's exactly what my chronic pains are, as if someone set my side on fire with a blow torch.

I've been eating white rice for the most part. Like i think I said, the most i can tolerate for veggies is lettuce or cucumbers. Everything else makes me ill. I still throw some meat into my diet but not often. I TRY to stick to chicken or fish (since those are white meat). The fish we eat are all caught on our own, so there's definitely no packaged materials in it.

I went to one of my family docs on friday and he looked through every single file and couldn't find anywhere those antifungal meds I was on for Candida! Exactly yesterday my regular pharmacist wasn't there either so I left him a message that I need to find out the name of that medication. Once i get that, I can tell this family doctor it and he'll write my a prescription. Wish me luck on that...

well of course good luck and all that goes without mention (though it is nice to hear). that "burny" feeling might be the yeast overgrowth. i used to have bloody stools as well and burny feelings too. (still do; not good acid you know). how bad is the blood? is it everytime? do you have reflux and are you taking anythign for it? have you eliminated soy? i think you said you had. i expected bloody stools when i started the caveman diet as well. i used to be terrified of veggies too since they would only give me D and make me feel all sluggish. but i'm telling that rice aint good news. hate to tell you the wrong advice but i was where you are and wondering which one i am battling. my bloody stools were the worst on normal american diet, but going only rice and tuna and bananas helped for about a year. i did not get them alot at times though i would...have not had one since gluten-free and completely Carb/Sugar/Soy/Corn/Casein/YeastFree save for an accidental soying bout a month ago (no wait was not accidental: was Hershey's kisses for the holidays becasue i did not care, but i do now ;) )

...which side is burning? whats that all about?

good luck

can i take too much L-glutamine? i take 1/4 of a spoonful a tiwce a day. once in the morning once in the evening. it feels good everytime and was not sure if i could take too much. i dont want to buld some kinf of a tolerance or whatever to the point it is no longer effective. is there anytjhing i should add to aid the repair? i have these enzymes but they say dont mix with water or milk. they were made for kids and to be put in juices, but i can't do juices. must have missed that while purchasing. should i do it anyway? is there anything else to say bond with the L-glutamine and be even more effective?

Scotty,

I've heard some recommend 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon measured at each meal for appetite suppressant purposes.

I always go easy on that stuff just in case. I've done 1/2 t. at one meal a day.

Hey scotty, no I do not get the bleeding every time I get the "burning" flareups. Its bad enough that every time I make my excessive trips to the washroom its black. Then after a few days, when the flareup 'cools down' it goes back to whatever you could call normal..

I was constant severe pains in my lower right side, just above the hip bone, and it's so sore that its sensitive to touch--that is why I can not sleep on my right side at all. i just did last night, because i couldnt get confortable, and now I am paying the price!!!

So you think some of this can be related to Candida instead??

Lisa,

Have you had your appendix checked?

ML

More than once, and it can't be the appendix because i've had these constant pains for over 2 years now...

Well lets just count how many doctors I'm seen: Yorkton, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Saskatoon....4 different specialist, and 5 different family doctors. I think thats enough opinions ;). And none of them have been able to solve it or diagnose it just yet..and yes, going to dctors and getting tests done are free...

Btw, the pains don't move at all...and thats the only area i get them.

I get pains there to, but part of it is from an old track injury, and when it gets cold it really hurts. I also get the pain there when im glutened. I never thought it related to candida.

I wouldnt think of it being related to Candida, either...and they arent glutened pains because those are a little higher up in the right side and aren't nearly as severe. It may be interesting if I do get to go back on the antifungal pills (assuming my phaacist can find the name of it). Wonder if my extreme pains will lessen..

i get multiple pain spot areas. i am to the point if i want a certain part to become flared i know what to eat to flare it. have you noticed that anything contributes to the problem? obviously you have had everything checked out so it does me no good to delve...i hate running circles around all this crap we go through (literally)--you're not alone here

so good luck. i'm sure a diet change will help somehow and someway.

Lisa,

To have a pain like that for 2 years is not right at all. You obviously have something going on there. It could be that something is on the outside of the intestines but still inside the body cavity. Endometrial tissue can cause terrible problems in the body cavity and it tends to cycle.

I would think a CAT scan could reveal if there is extra tissue or fungal growth on the outside of the intestine in that area causing pain or constriction.

Do you have any water retention in that area?

Hi Lisa,

What I mean was if you have water retention in that area where you have the pain. Like an inner tube of sorts around the lower abdomen? One can have water retention in areas where there is fungus because the body is trying to dilute the toxins as best it can to protect vital organs. The rest of the body is thin like arms and legs, neck, etc.

Maybe even an good ultra sound would show something and would not be as invasive as CAT scans. But cat scans show everything.... all soft tissue etc.

I've known several women that complained for years that something was not right and the doctors pretty much ignored them. Started inferring that it was all in their heads. It wasn't. For some women it takes up to 4 and 5 years to get a diagnosis and then things are pretty far gone.

Please don't let this happen to you. Be persistant until they find out what is going on.....

It is not right to have consistant pain in an area of the body especially soft tissue and have nothing going on there. I find that very odd especially if you have not had any injuries in that area.... no previous surgery, no accidents???

That is my fear too, that I won't get a diagnosis until its i'm dying and its already too late to save me..

I have been pressing, but i've had a couple doctors tell me that i'm nuts and making it all up and I should go see a psychiatrist instead

And no, I have had no sorts of accidents or any other surgeries. The only areas I've badly injured is right ankle, right wrist, nose, back, and left knee (at least i have the advantage of being a human barometer  )

Lisa,

Because they do not have an answer, they blame you and make you feel stupid and nuts. It has happened to most of us and that is why we have taken things into our own hands!!

I've heard that the further east you are in Ca the better the health care.... ?? I don't know if that is true but I have one friend that was in Vancouver and she could never get the docs to listen to her. I have another in Quebec and she says that the care there is very good and her docs get her whatever she asks for. I don't know if this is any help at all but maybe.

Please keep pestering and see if you can get ultra sound or cat scan or at least CA125 blood test to rule out some bad stuff.

Lisa I do think it can be related to candida. In the book I'm reading Power To Heal by Bruce Semon he writes, "The yeast makes toxic chemicals. These yeast chemicals can circulate in the body. Such cheicals are similar in structure to industrial solvents. Yeast makes acetol, acetoin, 2-methyle-2-pentenal, putrescine and spermine. These chemicals

are all listed as skin and eye irritants in the registry of toxic substances. Putrescine is extremely distructive to the tissue of the mucous membanes and upper respiratory tract, eyes and skin. It causes burns. Spermine is listed as causing skin and eye burns and may cause severe and permanent damage to the digestive tract.

It causes gastro intestinal tract burns and may cause perforation of the digestive tract. So chemicals come in from both the yeast present in the intestinal tract and from the diet. We don't know the impact of all the chemicals human beings take in. The body also has a limited capacity to clear toxic chemicals."

I read you eat mostly white rice which concerns me. It's really not much different then eating white table sugar to these little beasties. They feed on it. I would really look into a diet that is higher in protein and non starchy vegetable. I know vegetables give you problems but I found a bag of 'tender baby lettuce' thats very kind to the digestive tract. I think its from fresh express. Hopefully you can find somthing at least similar to that in your area.

I eat alot of salads and protein. ;)

Hi Lisa,

I'm not Gail but I get my protein from well cooked beans, omega 3 eggs, and a rice protein drink that I make on occasion.

The other thing that most don't realize is that every nut and seed contain protein, carbohydrate, and good fat in all the right proportions.

I hope this helps,

ML

Lisa I agree with Moldlady about vegetarian sources of protein. I don't have any expirence on being a vegetarian and anti candida diet so I'm not much help. Maybe you can ask the board with a separate post.

What kind of beans do you mean exactly??

I definitely know that going back to meat isn't possible. I've been eating it for 5 days in a row, not in huge amounts (parents feed me and made me eat, what can I say  ) and today I can feel a flareup coming on so I'm going to have to be very careful for the next few days and eat almost nothing until the flare dies down :(

Ahhh this conflicting diets thing is just plain annoying more than anything. Save one, kill another...

I like black beans. Very high in protein and when paired with a good quality carb its considered a "complete" protein.

There are many kinds of beans. I get them dried and soak and cook them from scratch. If you buy the canned variety, just make sure there isn't a lot of ingredients added and rinse them before heating them.
