Event created by dsoeldnernjcfsa
I work with a non profit organization to raise awareness for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS). My organization's name is The New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association. I am placing this event on a Celiac Event Calendar because many of us that suffer from CFS/ME, have gluten intolerance and food allergies. There are 19 TGIFriday's in the state of NJ that are participating in this fundraiser. It will take place all day long on November 11th and the only thing anyone has to do to help our organization, is present a coupon (which you can find on our website www.njcfsa.org) to your server and a percentage of your bill before tax will go to the NJCFSA. If you know anyone that lives near of of the TGIFriday's locations in NJ, please help pass the word on. I am hoping that this event will be a big success for 2 reasons. First, I have suffered with CFS/ME for 13 years and I desperately want to get the word out about this illness. The CDC reported that 800,000 to 1 million Americans were diagnosed with this illness last year and 20% of all Americans are still undiagnosed. My other reason for wanting this to be a success has to do with awareness pins. The CFIDS Association of America told me they no longer made pins and said i could do whatever I wanted. I knew that originally there were awareness ribbon pins in royal blue, but no one knew what they stood for. There are about 5 other organizations that use royal blue ribbons. I asked the NJCFSA Executive Board if we could purchase 1000 pins at a total of $1,150. I figured servers, managers, and hostesses at TGIFriday's could wear the pin which would encourage people to ask about the organization. The Board turned me down explaining it was too much money and they couldn't justify the expense. My grandfather stepped in and felt that we would make enough money to cover the cost of pins with the TGIFriday's Fundraiser. He told me to tell the Board if we don't make enough money to cover the cost of the pins, he would pay the balance. The Board approved my proposal and we are set to have beautiful Royal Blue Awareness Ribbon Pins with a white rectangular box across the ribbon where the tails meet with Royal Blue lettering saying CFS/ME. I am thrilled and hope that my grandfather will not have to pay any money to cover the cost of the pins. So, if you are in NJ and near any of these locations: Brick, Clifton, East Hanover, East Windsor, Flemington, Freehold, Hazlet, Manahawkin, Morganville, North Brunswick, Old Bridge, Piscataway, Pleasantville, Somers Point,
Springfield, Toms River, Turnersville, West Orange and Wood Ridge; please stop by and have something to eat. Again, the coupon can be printed out from our website. We will be adding phone numbers of the restaurants, so if you can't sit in the restaurant to eat, just order take out (to go) and present your coupon. It still helps our organization. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope some of you can help!
Thanks!
