Pointless. The whole bloody mess is pointless.

My sentiments exactly!!!:lol::lol: Why such a natural process has to be sooooooo......useless, a pain in the everywhere.....I think I'm the only person I knew who was happy to go into menapause....don't miss the bloody mess at all!!

Mornin' All . . . Headed back to Illinois today (until Monday night). It's crazy busy today so if you see me on, tell me to get off.

Struggling to comment on the parental subject of late . . . I'm deep in it at the moment as most of you know . . . I guess all I can say is to count your blessings where they may lay . . . whether with one parent or the other or both or neither (then look for your blessings someplace else.) Hugs all around for everyone struggling (or have struggled) with their parents . . . due to health issues or otherwise.

Well that's about as deep as I have ever gotten on this thread . . . but felt like I couldn't ignore the elephant in my own room.

Let's get back to talking about Bunnie's period. That sounds like more phun.

flourgirl Apprentice

After reading along the catching up....I forget about all of the things I wanted to say! So what's new, right? Hugs to all who need them....smiles all around!

I have gotten some "new applications" flags coming up with my PC Cillan. Wondered where they were coming from. I assume now I picked them up in FB!! Is NOTHING sacred? For Cryin' out louD! Better send some emails to people who think I'm a friend, and here I've been passing along pc illnesses!

For all of you struggling with family issues....I have to put my two cents in...you knew I would, admit it....I can't seem to help myself....sorry if I offend anyone.

REPEAT AFTER ME: There is NO such thing as a family that is NOT dysfunctional!

Some are more so than others. Every person (parents included) has their own personal monsters, problems, issues that they are dealing with. It spills over into their relationships. It's all a part of human relationships. We have certain needs, expectations, mental pictures of how the world should be. We want other people to fill those needs and to fit into those pictures. Often they do not. Some come close, some not even in the same continent. Sometimes we look at other families and think that they are perfect and wish ours to be like them. You only see the surface...they have their struggles too.

I'm not preaching.....sorry if it sounds that way. I guess I'm only reflecting on what I learned and use to deal with my own issues with family. If you are a loving person, and the door is SO open to pain if you are....you want others to love with the same abandon. Many can't be that way. Often those people truly WANT what you want but just don't know how, or are so afraid of that heart-pain that they can't allow it. Knowing this sometimes helps to ease your own pain.

ANYWAYYYYYYY.... ain't life grand? There is so much to figger out....it certainly is not a boring ride through! '[!,,.;' <-(comment from Peaches!...it says hugs to you)

Good day all......Psycho-Goose

BUNNIE!

MY PERIOD ARRIVES TODAY AS WELL! What does this mean .. . .....we are cosmically, hormonally connected. . .. . .. .....

Um, you know what else it means?

I am a personality worth some study, as I have just shared a very TMI piece from my life on the world wide web, in block caps, yet. ...... . ....the entire planet knows . . ........

This is a good thing in some respects: online telemarketers will refrain from calling over the next couple of days. ....no internet-savvy Jehovahs or charity organizations will be knocking. . ....."Oh, crap....read this. This one's got her period. Stay away from that number and house until next week". . . . . . ..

Peter, I am all for bacon, black olives, etc,

but pineapple, ham, mushroom (and onion) is too DIE FOR. A truly mouthgasmic food experience.

Ahhhhh, been waiting for the opportunity to use this unforgettable metaphor again.....

Like angels copulating on your tongue, perhaps?

Good day all......Psycho-Goose

:lol: Great name, Tareeesuh! I have come across a number of psycho geese in my life, all Canada geese now that I reflect on it. They have come hissing at me, wings up, ready to flail away at me. . . . ...

Crap, these Canucks. . . . ...

:huh::rolleyes:

I forgot to pass on that Lyle's feeling better. He bit my calf this morning (no mean feat, considering the size of my calfs), and did his little *woof* meow to ask to go out. Which didn't work, but the calf biting did net him some treats.

Freakin pointless <_< I used to have that particular effect, too. That and having to sleep wif one eye open, running to the bathroom every hour and a half or so due to the flooding that came along wif it. Phinally, I said--enough!

tell me to get off.

<giggle>

Safe travels, Jan-it!! :D

Pah-tay....I hope I didn't sound like "shut up and get on with it" earlier. I totally agree that sometimes you just need to open the bag and let the air out! Sometimes you need to do this on many occasions to deflate the thing. And yes...people who understand and can commiserate are the best listeners. (I've done my share of "airing, believe me......and reading and studying and trying like heck to fegger out human nature and what makes us tik). I didn't read it that way, but even if I had, I don't think it would have been inappropriate. I think you need to see/hear all kinds of viewpoints in order to truly understand your own.

Quoting Jess again.....just cause she's so smart :P

T--I didn't read anything like that into what you said either. The great thing about this lil spot of ours is that we can say whatever comes into our minds at the moment and not be judged. Speaking for myself on the subject at hand, I've more or less come to terms with my situation so it's not something I even dwell on much. If it's brought up, I'll put in my two cents because I figure sometimes it helps to know you're not alone.

I love hearing your bright, positive take on things, so keep it coming! :D

and since I"m phrends wif yer hubby on da book, I already know what yer all doin' this weekend. ;) sounds fantastic!!!!!!!!

Not sad, Bun. Just more aware of the complexities of our own relationships. Both the good and the bad.

Geoss always says things the best. :)

You appear to have flummoxed us all.

I know! except fer Paddeigh..........

Peter, I am all for bacon, black olives, etc,

but pineapple, ham, mushroom (and onion) is too DIE FOR. A truly mouthgasmic food experience.

You two must have a mutual connection somewhere. Facebook automatically generates those potential friend sugesstions based on info you enter, like place of work, where you live or go to school.

mouthgasmic!!!

um........the connection to Ass Hat......well, he's three hours away, we have no mutual friends. BUT - I have a whole section in my hotmail of all of his/our emails - all saved. Wonder if THAT is the reason he popped up? His email address?

gianknit

you are in a very vulnerable time.....thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

um, yeah, we'll discuss periods now. I'm sure the guys are really enjoying it. (maybe Ptaum will poop in today?)

Knowing this sometimes helps to ease your own pain.

all of this only works if you have a family that actually cares about you. :( When they just flat-out don't care.........I mean, I would LOVE it if there were some fighting and drama, etc., because that would mean that we talked to them and they cared about us!!!!!!!!!!!!! but 'tis not so.

my brother (age 55) is a full-time and very gifted and lauded sixth grade science teacher, which obviously takes much of his time and passion. His other passion is his Episcopal church, where he has been for nearly 30 years, he is an elder and deacon and extremely involved. So....I found out from my mom this morning that my bro has taken on two other teaching jobs, at colleges. So - the time that he DID have is spread even more thin.

and my point is - he keeps himself so incredibly busy that he doesn't even have much time for his own immediate family any more, why would have have any time for us? He has lost all of his friends for lack of contact from him.

So........being around my family is like.......being with people you're obligated to be around, but who just absolutely do not know anything about you, and do not care, and you have to make forced (but very polite) conversation (really about nothing - they don't ask questions about our lives) and get through it, when you'd rather be at your raucous, fun friends' homes on holidays, where they genuinely like you and care about you and are intimately involved in the details of your life.

end of rant. back to menstruation.

and on with the day.

I feel tired.

mimommy Contributor

I'm havin' a barfday squiggle with Suze :P

ME first this mornin!!!!

I stayed home from work today, not something I normally do. Got my period this morning, and without being too graphic, I'll just say it occasionally has an unfortunate effect on my bowels. I wasn't in the mood for hobbling back and forth to the bathroom all morning. I wish Imodium would work on this particular issue.....

Ditto. Almost every darn month--ughh!!!!!! But as of late, I also ovulate during my period, too (or at least it FELLS like it) so it just adds to the fun :(

Pointless. The whole bloody mess is pointless.

'Cept for that whole reproduction thing.

Have a super day, Your Highneee!!

And, no, you never sound like that...ever.

Took my girl for her dental check-up today. A possible cavity <_< She needs a filling, but not the drilling kind that require novacaine.

My friend came by this morning and presented me with a gift certificate to the Macomb Center For The Performing Arts. It is a lovely, intimate setting to see a show. We took the kids there for The Nutcracker last X-mas, and there is not a bad seat in the house.

I was THRILLED, and a little stunned, because Scott and I were just browsing through the Center's flyer 2 days ago and saying what good shows were coming up this year-- "Tapdogs", "Bowfire", "Menepause: The Musical". (She and I have a very close friendship and are pretty in-tune, but that was uncanny :o Very thoughtful gift

I am cleaning and packing to head up to the cottage tomorrow for 4 days. The weather here is glorious. My house smells like the Pamela's gluten-free brownies I just baked...mmmmmm.

Hi Sillies-

I know I have been away for awhile and I had told ya all I was coming back well things at work have gotten more chaotic than usual. We are getting ready to move to our new cancer institute building at the beginning of July. So on top of the already high case load we all have- I currently have almost 70 patients on active tx and then another 180 just hanging out so my work days are full and lately I have been putting in extra hours or taking work home.

John and I are doing well- John just turned 32 and told me he was old....crazy! He went back to work about a week ago after having that time off from surgery.

So thats the good news.....

Now the news that has me having a hard time finding my silly. I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago. We didnt tell anyone just in case....well turns out that was a good thing. I suffered an early loss over the weekend. I know it wasn't like I was very far along but still- we had both been so happy. I am trying to see the positive of this since my gyn told me that an early loss happens when the pregnancy can be defective and your body is flushing it out. SO I am looking forward to the coming weeks and hoping we get there again. I was told my body is ready and we have a better chance of getting pregnant now so here's to that.

I have had the pleasure of getting the betty crocker mixes not only are they awesome but the price is good. I am impressed!

So I will try not to be such a stranger these days...I am slowly trying to find my way back...

Many of the symptoms, there are over 200, associated with celiac disease and NCGS are vitamin and mineral deficiencies caused by small intestine damage in the case of celiac disease and food avoidance and the poor nutrittion of the Modern American Diet (MAD) I used to turn the heat on even at 78 degrees.  The 600 mcg of Liquid Iodine helped.  Also good for hair, nails, skin and brain fog.  Another good thing for brain fog is phosphatyl choline.  It is essentil for acetylcholine- a brain chemical. I have familial hyperlipdemia and instead of a statin I got a prescription for Nicotinic Acid, 2000 mg a day.  I was already taking 500 mg a day and was really surprised when my HDL when up to  44 and I began sleeping better and my legs and back are getting more flexible.  In addition after the first few doses of itchiness I get a warm fuzzy feeling Raising your vitamin D is crucial.  Low vitamin D allows the immune system to run amuck. intermittent bouts of fatigue, chills/cold intolerance, and shortness of breath/air hunger (sometimes feels like a hollowness in my chest, hard to describe).  Look at Thiamin deficiency. consistently ran hot, was always cranking the a/c, to someone who wears a down vest.  Any combination of deficiencies in B1, B2, B3, B5, choline and Iodine can cause this.  Likely all of them. After a lifetime of mouthbreathing GFD cleared my sinuses.  Post nasal drip is my first symptom of cross contamination nowaday.

If you mean continueing on Gluten Free my answer is yes.  She showed significant improvement in her behavior and that translates to a happy family.  Do get her tested as sooon as you can.  You might want to investigate genetic testing for Celiac Disease.  Children recover more quickly than adults.  It took my son about 6 months on Nutramigen before going to regular food, gluten free.  Blood tests are not always accurate in very young children. You may be advised to see a gastroenterologist instead of relying on blood tests results. Logic: She is better off gluten than before.  Wheat flour has no nutritional value and has an omega 6: omega 3 ratio of 22:1.  Our bodies do better at 3:1.  Omega 6 causes inflammation. When my son was diagnosed, back in 1976, his doctor recommended my wife and I also go gluten free.  We declined and lived to regret it.  I started GFD at 63 and have spent the last 10 years undoing the damage, some of my symptons went all the way back to my childhood and things I lived with all my life got better.

Hi @Nicbent35,             When my son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when he was weaned, so I understand your frustration.       With improvement so dramatic, it cannot be a coincedence. Get her to the doctor and tell the story and insist on testing.  In the meantime, though, continue on GFD.  Her health is more important than convincing a doctor.  Bring videos of her behaviors if you can.  Even if the blood tests and biopsy prove negative, that is part of the diagnosis process for NCGS and later when she is recovered you can always do a Gluten Challenge.      This is an important time in her developement.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption syndrome, leading to malnutrition, regardles of what she eats.  Though NCGS may not cause malabsorption, it will affect food choices which can lead to malnutrition.  There may be benifits that an official diagnosis may have, but they don't trump a healthy child.      Get her healthy, then worry about validation later.  Celiac Disease is difficult to diagnosed, especially in children, because doctors look for antibodies in the blood and young children have immature immune systems.  Also you don't mention any gastrologic symtoms and celiac disease is traditionally considered gastrolic only.  Not true.  There are over 200 symptom that celiac disease and the accompaning malnutrion mimics or causes that often causes misdiagnosis and delay in recovery. While at the doctors, ask them about vitamin D deficiency and Iodine deficiency in particular. Milk being the primary source of iodine in the diet, but concerns exist regarding the lower iodine content in organic milk and reduced milk consumption in certain demographics.  Vitamin D deficiency is 40% of the industrialized population and a recent study in the Great Britain showed a wopping 60%, beaten only by some areas of Canada at 70%. And B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6.  Deficiencies in these are common in untreated Celiac Disease and they affect energy production. Are You Confused About Your Celiac Disease Lab Results?

@plumbago, Are you taking any folate with your B12?   Folate helps regulate HDL levels.  You may try taking a methylfolate supplement with your B12.   If there's a folate deficiency because you aren't absorbing sufficient folate, or have the MThF mutation causing a functional folate deficiency (methylfolate trap), you can have a functional B12 deficiency despite supplementing, resulting in HDL levels not getting regulated, but running high or low.   Pushing the envelope in explanations, too. P. S. Are you taking a B Complex?  Folate and B12 Cobalamine need enzymes made from B6 Pyridoxine's interaction with Thiamine, and B2 Riboflavin's interaction with Thiamine.  Is your Vitamin D low?

Thank you for all that helpful info, does that mean it’s not a good idea to do what I’m doing? Or since it’s only been a week should I see if I could get her tested now? Would it show up still since it hasn’t been long if they tested her?
