Donnatal is a combination of active ingredients. I was on it for a while for my "irritable bowel" in my early twenties. It has atropine (belladonna), phenobarbital and other ingredients. Like Immodium, it may help ease the symptoms of celiac disease, but does nothing to address the underlying problem.

Thanks Peter. Stopped taking it for now in case it was making me dizzy ad caused some of the falls. Levsinon gave me the runs.

Will be back online tomorrow morning for a bit. Miss my psillies!!!!!!

G'mornin' all. Met wif my new calculus tutor yesterday and he's perfect, as I expected (a grad student who was my instructor for matrix algebra).

Going out w' BE tonight, and we're going to a friend's open house on Sunday, so he'll meet some of my theater friends. Still finding out fun things about him. I invited him to go to see the Picasso exhibit that's touring here and he agreed. I thanked him for doing that, thinking he was indulging me in my silly art tendencies, and he told me that his mom's and artist and he minored in art in school. He then proceeded to tell me about taking his kids to Europe and making them go to all the big museums. :)

It's really nice when the new stuff you learn about people is more than you expected to have in common. :)

I took me a mental health day on Wednesday! Went for a really long walk in the sunshine, cleaned out all of the summer veggies from the garden and took a really long nap! Spent yesterday morning wif my BFF and the afternoon cuddling wif the little one watching movies  Then the evening a nervous wreck watching the older one trying to perfect her front handsprings for an hour waiting for her to break sumphin  Made a yumm-o veggie soup and enjoyed a nice hot cocoa after my run! Twas a very nice 2 day vacation :)

I heard you guys! Thanks for the birfday wishes!

Hope you had a phab-oo day yesterday!! I float tomorrow. Had a panic attack thinking about it last night. Will have to do some pserious deep breathing exercises to get me into that coffin tank!

When I would "force" the boys to go to art galleries, we would play a game. Count the horses and dogs or all animals they see. When they were a little older (8 & 11) we went to the Hirschorn modern art at the Smithsonian. They complained at the first statue outside. Told them they were to count the naked people in the statues and paintings. How many male & how many female. Had a great time. Found about 90 females and 12 males. Cracked up at how the only way you could tell some were a person was they had boobs. :)

That's heeelarious!! You're such an awesome mom!

My older son loves that sort of thing (museums). We took the kids to The Smithsonian when they were younger and they really enjoyed it. When we lived nearer to Philadelphia, we liked to go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Such a huge place, it takes a number of visits to see it all.

Got People's Court on. It's hysterical! A guy hired another to cut down brush and haul off junk. Paid the junk man $2000 up front. The junk man wanted his last $1000 before he finished. The guy wouldn't pay him until he finished. The junk man brought " suitable garbage" back from another job and dumped it on the property.

Hmmm.. . .. .during the last significant visit I made to the National Gallery of Canada, I ended up having to bring a margarine container in with me to collect my urine should I have needed to go. I had started my annual 24-hour urine collection that morning, forgetting I had volunteered to do this school field trip. So, did I throw out the partial collection of urine when I realized where I was going to be all afternoon? No. Decided to live on the wild side -- or the ridiculous side -- and keep going.

Did I collect urine while in the gallery? Yes.

Did security ask me what I was carefully holding as I tried to nonchalantly follow the children out through the atrium doors? Yup.

It was, uh...... . . . .. ....well, quite a field trip... . . . ..I think it was quite something for the two security guards that listened as I told them that my plastic container had urine in it. The funniest part was how I had to tell them whose it was -- mine -- and then it seemed okay. "Oh, so it's your OWN urine. Very good - - carry on......have a nice day".. .. . ..

He said it was garbage of a similar sort that he had originally taken off the property! He said that the junk man's code says that if they aren't paid, he can dump up to 3 times the waste they cleared, back onto the cleared property. He has a warrant out for his arrest for illegal dumping!

I'm Baaaack!!! Missed my psilly pfriends!!!! Had a phab time with my girlfriends. Spent a wee bit too much money considering I don't know how much longer UI is lasting and if I'll be able to get disability. I should be able to at this point. What I really want is to get well and get a job!!!! I bought little things for the most part (XMAS gifts and psilly things for my son's mid-term goody bag that I'll bring him tomorrow (a gorilla pfinger puppet in honor of Karennng, a floating eyeball, a sparkle thing that lights up when you turn on a switch, a brown bear eraser/sharpener - brown bear is his college mascot- and of course about 4 pounds of leftover halloween candy). He better share the candy or he'll be a walking zit!!!!

I took my girlfriends to Westerly yesterday (where I live) because the weather was horrible and I wanted them to see Mystic Seaport when it wasn't a cold steady downpour. One of my friends is a newlywed and the other is getting married next October. Evidently her sister was a b!@#$ when she went shopping for dresses with her. We happened to find a wedding shop in downtown Westerly and they were amazing. They spent two hours with us. I think my girlfriend found her gown there (or at least narrowed it down to 2). She might just have to come back up to visit me with her mother. She was beaming and my other friend and I were thrilled that we could help her enjoy the experience. Her fiance is in the National Guard and has already been to Germany and Iraq. We're all praying he won't be shipped out again (or at all) before the wedding. It's hard for her to get too excited because of that. I plan on being well enough to make the trip and Rob said he's come and drive me (he HATES weddings or going to big affairs where he doesn't know anyone).

Today we went to the seaport and walked all day long. A bit hard on my coccyx but I think it was good for me. Seeing them definitely was!!! I dropped them off at the train at about 4:30 and although my hubby says he didn't miss the time we usually spend together I know he really did. I do know he was happy that they came to visit and was a very gracious host.

They also were big help with my getting material from basement to use with the girl I'll be tutoring. That means I can return about $50 worth of books back to Birder's tomorrow.

OK - Multiple replies here:

Rashelle , BE just gets better and better and I couldn't be more thrilled for you! You deserve it!!!!!!!! Dali is one of my favorites (I have two signed and numbered lithographs) and we went to the exhibit in Philly a few years ago. Tony was very nonplussed (he'll learn one of these days). I also love M.C. Escher and SO many others.

Karannng - you're too funny with counting naked people in the paintings. Do you and your children ever discuss it today?

Patti - Philly Museum of Art is where we saw the Dali exhibit. Use to be members when we lived n Jersey.

Elye- you are a real pisser! Did the urine make it out of the museum safely?

Going to make Klark dinner and then watch Ironman with him (we missed Ironman 2 in the theaters so we're watching the first one tonight then we'll watch the second. I have a serious case of the hots for Robert Downey Junior and my son thinks it's gross.

So good to be back! I missed you all!

Was it Levsin? My doc gave me that early on--made me dopey and didn't do a thing for my cramping. Have you tried laying down wif a heating pad?

He gave me that first and it didn't make me dopey but gave me the big D so I stopped taking it. The he gave me Donnatal and i think that was the culprit (It's a mix of belladonna and phenobarbital) because I stopped taking it yesterday and walked around all day yesterday and today with my girlfriends and didn't get dizzy or fall.

Well the conflicting results continue as the biopsy has come back negative. 😵‍💫 Waiting to discuss further but I really don’t know what to think now? Eight biopsy’s were taken from duodenum which surely should be sufficient if it was coeliac?

I have Celiacs and want you to be aware of the amount of weight you can potentially put on if you rely on gluten free snacks, bread etc.,they  are high in carbs.  I put on 25 lbs in a short amount of time.  Whole Foods are the best way to go but I struggle with this.  The cost of gluten free is also a problem.  I love black licorice but most have gluten.  My favorite chili seasoning as well.  The list is endless.  I take  Advil liquid gels and had no idea until I read this.  I hope you do better than I have done.  I feel I am destined to suffer daily no matter what.  My aunt didn’t take care of herself and died from complications.  I hope you can get on a good routine.
    • growlinhard1
Thank you, I appreciate the response. I'm going to begin the gluten free diet and wait for the biopsy results. I feel fairly certain that it's the right thing for my well being. I will keep you posted.

The flu vaccine is indeed not 100% effective every year, as its effectiveness varies depending on how well the vaccine strains match the circulating flu viruses. However, even in years when the match is less than perfect, the flu vaccine still provides significant benefits. Studies consistently show that vaccinated individuals who contract the flu often experience milder symptoms, a lower risk of complications, and a reduced likelihood of hospitalization or death compared to those who are unvaccinated. For high-risk groups, such as the elderly, young children, and individuals with chronic health conditions, the flu vaccine remains a critical tool for reducing severe outcomes. Regarding the mention of risks associated with vaccines, it’s important to note that the flu vaccine is generally very safe for most people. Serious side effects are extremely rare, and the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks for the vast majority of individuals. If someone has specific concerns about vaccine safety due to medical conditions or allergies, they should consult their healthcare provider to discuss their options. As for alternative measures like a D Lamp (ultraviolet light disinfection), while these can be useful for reducing pathogens in the environment, they are not a substitute for vaccination. The flu virus spreads primarily through respiratory droplets, and personal protection measures like hand hygiene, masking, and improving indoor ventilation can complement vaccination but cannot replace its targeted immune protection.
    • trents
Because you have already had the "gold standard" test done, and because you have some experiential evidence that removing gluten from your diet causes you to feel better, it would make sense to begin the gluten-free diet as you wait for biopsy results.
