I tossed some cut up apples into my coffee cake. A much needed improvement was made.

I was thinking that, too!

Weird frickin' morning.

Went out to check on the chickens and found the three chicks outside the nest, cold and dead. Brought them inside wrapped up in my shirt against my stomach, because, you know, they're chickens. Reptilian-esque. Put the heated barley bag underneath them and started searching the chicken forum. Others have revived chicks that have been dead for a couple days, so I figured I'd give it a shot. One person suggested putting them back under the broody. OK, works for me.

Put the three little bodies under mom (I'm not very hopeful, actually, but it's worth a shot). Figured I'd take out the two eggs that didn't hatch, because 3 days overdue is a long time. Brought the eggs inside to candle them to see if they were even ever fertile and one PEEPED at me!.

So now the broody is sitting on three dead chicks, and two "dud" eggs.

And I dunno about you, but when there are lives at stake, I'm pretty oblivious of my body -- so now my back really hurts.

Think I'll re-microwave the barley bag and stretch out in the recliner.

jerseyangel Proficient

Oh Jess, I'm sorry about the chicks and yes, when something like that is happening you kind of act on instinct and your physical feelings take a back seat to the emotional ones.

I am sending warm, positive thoughts that the wee ones will somehow pull through. Keep us posted and take care of that back;)

Ah geeze -_- Sorry about the bebehs. And rest that back!!! (I also vote chiro... know some peeps don't like 'em but mine got me walking again after a slipped disk broke me, so I'm partial ;) )

Sorry about the chickies. Sorry about your back, too. Sounds like everyone should have just stayed in their snug beds where they belong.

I know people who have brought back frozen kittens, so it could work for chicks?

Yeah!

Well, no miracle chickie resurection, but Re-peep hatched and seems fine. I'll listen to the last egg today, and if it's not peeping, out it goes. That way Dovey can get up and follow the kid around if she decides to leave the nest.

Aw sorry about the chickies Jess :(.

So sorry about the chicks. Remember to ice after using the heated barley bag. I relied on heat (comfort) when my back went out after the hospital. Between the chiropractor and icing it I'm actually going to be able to pick Tony up at JFK with Superman. Was also given the green light on intimacy.

Love,

Poodle talks are still in discussion. It's the only pet I'm not allergic to (not counting the wonderful turtles, snakes, etc we had when Tony was growing up). Rob thinks it will be therapeutic in many ways. Our friend has been brining her poodle Tassie to visit. I'm in love. Tassie has a sister that is not a poodle and they are very close so my allergies kick up a little after being with her. It's going to be put on hold until the weather is warmer and we see what's happening for Rob job wise (another mouth to feed & vet bills to consider). He's still the top candidate for the job in Mass. but neither of us want to move. We've developed some close friendships in our development (not to mention finally having the right doctors who aren't trying to solve everything with medication). I'm 1000% better and rarely even think about reaching for a pain med or any other. As my system detoxes I'm able to see what meds I need to re-add in (for example I was taking hormone replacement and stopped and the hot flashes came back with a vengeance- it's also good for my bones). Instead of taking (no exaggeration) 20-25 pills twice a day I' down to 4 once a day as well as homeopathic remedies. I feel better than I have in years. I'm still trying to tackle sleeping but I'm going to wait until the trip to NJ to deal with it. I don't want to be wide awake in a hotel and then too tired to enjoy the party. A reminder to all of you that are sorta close to Princeton (or don't mind a ride) I'm having the joint birthday party for the boys on January 19th at 1PM at Romeo's on Schalks Crossing in Plainsboro NJ. It's between Route 1 and Route 130 right outside of Princeton and Cranbury. It's going to be a buffet so I have them setting up a gluten-free table away from the regular buffet. I'm going to put up some signs asking people to PLEASE not cross contaminate our area. They have gluten-free pizza and pastas. I would love to meet my psillies in person. Patti, I'm crossing everything that Mark will be able to bring you.

OK, laundry calls. In case I'm not online again this year (we decided to go to the NYE party and I already made my ambrosia) I wish all of you the HEALTHIEST and HAPPIEST of New Year's. I have a great feeling about 2013 (13 has always been a lucky number for me).

I know I've said it before but it's sincere and straight from the heart. I don't know what I did before I met all of you wonderful psillies (and those not into our thread). This forum has truly been a lifeline for me and I feel so blessed to have you all in my life.

All my Love,

A thankful Loey

P.S. didn't take as long as I thought to get the Celiac back under control. I see my G.I. tomorrow at 7:30 AM

Loey Rising Star

Ooh Loey-- enjoy!! ;)

Still crossing everything that you and Mark will make it to the party. I'll be the one who's overdressed. It's a casual party but I am the hostess. :D :D

Love you!

Loey

P.S. I'm disappointed that Vince is in Cranbury (next to Plainsboro) this weekend and can't make the party. If I still lived in Plainsboro I'd be in the congregation beaming at our very multi-talented fella!

Thank you @JulieRe so much for sharing this extra information. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope it keeps moving in that direction. I feel I'm having so many lightbulb moments on this forum just interacting with others who have this condition. I also was diagnosed with gastric reflux maybe about 10 years ago. I was prescribed ranitidine for it several years back, which was working to reduce my gastric reflux symptoms but then the FDA took ranitidine off the shelves so I stopped taking it. I had a lot of ups and downs healthwise in and around that time (I suddenly gained 20 pounds, blood pressure went up, depression got worse, and I was diagnosed with OSA). At the time I attributed my change in symptoms to me taking on a new stressful job and didn't think much else about it. They did give me a replacement gastric reflux drug since ranitidine was off the shelves, but when I went on the CPAP for my OSA, the CPAP seemed to correct the gastric reflux problem so I haven't been on any gastric reflux drug treatment for years although I still do have to use a CPAP for my OSA. Anyway that's a long story but just to say… I always feel like I've had a sensitive stomach and had migraines my whole life (which I'm now attributing to having celiac and not knowing it) but I feel my health took a turn for much worse around 2019-2020 (and this decline started before I caught covid for the first time). So I am now wondering based on what you said, if that ranitidine i took could have contributed to the yeast overgrowth, and that the problem has just been worsening ever since. I have distinctly felt that I am dealing with something more than just stress and battling a more fundamental disease process here. I've basically been in and out of different doctor specialties for the past 5 years trying to figure out what's wrong with me. Finally being diagnosed with celiac one year ago, I thought I finally had THE answer but now as I'm still sick, I think it's one of a few answers and that maybe yeast overgrowth is another answer. For me as well, my vitamin deficiencies have persisted even after I went gluten-free (and my TTG antibody levels came down to measurably below the detectable limit on my last blood test). So this issue of not absorbing vitamins well is also something our cases have in common. I'm now working with a nutritionist and taking lots of vitamins and supplements to try and remedy that issue. I hope that you continue to see improvements in working with your naturopath on this. Keep us posted!

Hello everyone. I am Elena and am 38 years old. I suspect I have a gluten intolerance even if my celiac panel is ok. I have the following symptoms : facial flushing, Red dots not bumps în face, bloating abdominal distension, hair loss, depression anxiety even with meds and even bipolar. Fatigue extreme to the point of not being able to work. All of these after I eat gluten. Could I have non celiac gluten sensitivity? Thanks anyone else with these symptoms?

Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.

Hi @JulieRe.  I just found your post.  It seems that I am also experiencing thrush, and my doctor believes that I have fungal overgrowth in my gut, which is most likely candida.  I'm seeing my GI doctor next week, so I'm hoping she can diagnose and confirm this and then give me an antifungal treatment.  In the meantime, I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, doing a candida cleanse and taking vitamins. It's already helping to make me feel better (with some ups and downs, of course), so I do think the yeast is definitely a problem for me on top of my celiac disease and I'm hoping my GI doctor can look into this a bit further.  So, how about you?  Did the candida come back, or is it still gone following your fluconazole treatment?  Also, was it awful to take fluconazole?  I understand that taking an antifungal can cause a reaction that sometimes makes people feel sick while they're taking it.  I hope you're doing better still !
