  1. Yes, and it is really disturbing at first. I used to be a good dancer and very very coordinated. I feel like I am all thumbs sometimes, or just tip sideways all of a sudden. I don't feel dizzy though just embarrassed. I have dropsys too, like my hands just miss or fail to grasp things correctly.
  2. Hi! I am fairly new here too and like you, 8 years ago they said I had IBS. I struggled trying to juggle what foods worked and what didn't having no idea what gluten intolerance was. I lost so much weight in 3 weeks and became so dehydrated that I had secondary emergency problems happen. When someone said to me... "Just eat potatos..rice..maybe tapioca for...
  3. From what I am reading here, it appears that "Enterolab" is the best and most fool proof method for gluten intolerance testing..via stool sample? More so than endoscopy? Is this correct? If so, does one have to be actively eating gluten to show positive? And is it that Enterolab is more costly than other forms of testing that it may not be the first choice...
  4. "Gluten intolerance can affect so many different aspects of our health, not just digestive, so pay attention to any neurological manifestations, respiratory, mental, as well as sore muscles and joints and fatigue. "" Oh boy...are these neurological problems reversable with gluten free?? I most definitely have felt a sense of limited ability for some time...
  5. Yikes. I get up to "tinkle" at least twice a night. Thought that was normal for me. Will see now if anything changes though with gluten free. Living on protein shakes at the moment to choke down all the antibiotics for the ulcer but feeling great.
  6. That's true, but I have had food problems for many years and know that malt causes extreme bloat/gas. Years ago I had diarrhea for a month and they said I had IBS..and when I quit the farina and started eating potatos, it was all uphill. Will have to look inot ulcers too..Maybe you cannot digest grains well with an ulcer.
  7. Months..wow. That's what I am reading here and some folks still have intermittent trouble. My improvements are immediate..from the first baked potato..within 2 weeks the symptoms (aside from the ulcer) have completely calmed.
  8. By that I mean the main culprits for Celiacs; rye, barley, wheat , malt... Aside from the excruciating gastritis they produce, do you feel. 1. That the food just sits for hours and your body struggles to move it though. 2. Your heart beats faster because your body is working so hard and you can feel it pounding from your stomach to lower intestines....
  9. Thankyou for the replies! I had a total turn around with eliminating obvious glutens and corn products from my diet. Milk is taking care of the pain from the ulcer so am on the up and up. The GP has referred me to a GI Dr. but not sure how far I will go with that...been through enough at the moment and not interested in endoscopy for the time being!
  10. bump. It seems more often than not, from what i read here, that blood work proves negative for celiac though a person may very well have it. Am I correct? TIA.
  11. By the way, it is the medicine called "Verced" that causes the temporary amnesia. The purpose of it is just that...so that you do not remember any of the procedure. It does make one look silly though after . My husband asked me probably 8 times in 20 minutes if the Dr had been in to see him and what he said. (The Dr had, so i just repeated the info 8 times...
  12. H. Pylori. Ok..so I do have high H. Pylori but it was multigrain oatmeal that got me to the Drs. and I have many symptoms that really fit with Celiac. The page that uses words like t-Transgutaminase (tTG) IgA...Antigliadin ABS. Amylase, Lipase..etc etc came out negative. My question is, can one still have Celiac with such a shining report? It appears that...
  13. That is confusing. I just know that over the years, certain processed foods would cause bloat and the only similar factor I could find was maltodextrin so it has been a way of life to eliminate foods with that. I suppose there could be something else in those foods doing it. I justr ead somewhere her that there are 2 types of maltodextrin as well..one that...
  14. Thanks for the info! I rarely get into anything with sorbitol anymore as I have learned over the years what it's in so if I do, it's usually from walking in my sleep to the snack cabinet. (I have kids.) Pain is a good deterrant though. Eventually I nix another food from my list.
  15. Yes..true. That "contamination" word though is enough to keep me clear of any grain that swells up in water other than brown rice for right now.
