  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I wanted to thank everyone who has responded and add a couple of things. To Arlingtonmom, I just found Digestive Advantage today and bought some and can't wait to talk to Tommy's doctor Tuesday to see if it's okay for him! That sounds too good to be true! I've been grinding up Lactaid and mixing it with a teaspoon of water and giving it to Tommy in a medicine...
  3. I suppose I don't really belong here anymore since Tommy (my baby) tested negative for celiac disease. But I need help and have looked for it elsewhere and I was hoping that all of you would be kind enough to not judge me for not just giving up dairy. (Which I did for 7 months when I thought he was allergic and he still had a mild "reaction" and I kept...
  4. Could you help me? I've been gluten-free for a month and I don't know how much weight I've gained (or even if I'm a celiac - I'm gluten-free for my baby's sake) but my pants don't fit anymore. I can tell by looking in the mirror from the side that I'm bigger. My belly fat is firmer so maybe it's water weight, but why?
  5. Are rice noodles the same as rice sticks? I bought rice sticks and followed the intructions to soak in hot water. It didn't say boiling, just hot. They were still tough so I drained them then added more hot water and let them soak longer. They were still tough. Are they supposed to be like that or did I do it wrong? How do you fix them?
  6. What bothers me about these doctor's talking about my kids' weight is that my kids aren't chubby at all. They're the perfect size, it's just the number on the scale that's too big. I admit that I give them frozen burritos and mac and cheese too often, but other than that they eat a wonderful diet. They even like salad! When they had their first app with...
  7. Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions!
  8. Thanks for the amazon .com tip. I never thought of that!
  9. I was going to post a question about this in the babies and kids section. My daughter, Shirley, started sleeping throught the night when she started soy formula at 2 1/2 months (I believe she was allergic to milk because lactose free formula didn't help her "colic" but her ped said she couldn't be because milk allergy is rare.) When she was about ten months...
  10. Jeffy certainly has emotional problems. Besides being extremely clingy as a toddler, now he's aggressive, mean, a screamer, still throws temper tantrums, and I wonder if he might even be depressed. Most days I want to strangle him Homer Simpson style because of the way he acts and the things he does (climbs out windows naked and runs down the street, picks...
  11. This might sound a bit strange. I've had problems with my milk letting down since Tommy was born 9 months ago. I actually had the opposite problem with Jeffy. (Shirley was bottle fed.) I was really surprised when we went gluten-free a month ago and my milk started letting down immediately after he started nursing. It used to take half an hour or more...
  12. Hi. My baby, Tommy, and I have been gluten-free for a month now (except for a few accidents) when I began to suspect that he was allergic to wheat and either allergic to oats and barley, too, or just having a cross reaction to them. His skin prick tests were negative, but since the gluten-free diet is the only thing that has ever helped his life-long screaming...
  13. I always wondered if there was any reason for burping or having difficulties burping besides swallowing air. I second baby, Jeffy (4yo now) never burped, not once. Poor little Tommy is 9mo and I've always had a hard time burping him. He won't sleep until he has burped but it sometimes takes an hour to get it out. I thought it was just the way he nurses...
  14. My 9mo Tommy has never been a good sleeper. My 4yo Jeffy would only sleep as baby if I held him and nursed him all night. I see that there is an entire message board here about sleep. Does celiac cause sleep disturbances? Tommy has been gluten-free for a month now (pretty much, anyway...still working out the kinks) and isn't vomiting or screaming with...
  15. Hi. My 9mo, Tommy, just had allergy testing a few days ago and tested negative to everything, so the allergist did blood tests for celiac and we're waiting for the results. I'm not sure how accurate the test will be since he's a baby and was already gluten-free for a month. His doc said to stick with the gluten-free/cf diet no matter what the test results...
