  2. Well basically, I used a home testing kit for celiac disease. When it came to putting the test stick in the tube I put it in the wrong way, so I flipped it over. For 10 minutes nothing came up (which by then should have) so I'm guessing because I put it in upside down I had ruined it. Luckily I had access to a second stick. I put it in and it came up negative...
  3. At the moment I'm just having milk with cereal in the morning - that's it. So if it is gluten-intolerance I hope to see an improvement in the next couple of weeks. As you recommend, I'll probably next test to see if I'm lactose intolerant instead if I am the same. Luke
  4. Thank you for the advice. Is it possible for the villi to heal with dairy still in the diet? As you might understand taking milk out would be a huge step for me and one I most wish to avoid if at all possible. Luke
  5. A month or 2? Now I'm not sure what to do. I ate burgers last night with gluten in them but how much will that effect me considering my last 5 days of gluten-free? Considering how sure I am of being gluten-free could I just continue with the diet for a couple of weeks?
  6. Ok cheers, I'll wait the full 2 weeks but check back on this thread to see any other advice/recommendations. Luke,
  7. Do you think that is neccessary since I have only been gluten-free for 5 days? Or is that long enough for all of the antibodies to be out of my blood?
  8. Well basically I started a gluten-free diet for 5 days and have now decided, because I haven't prepared, that I'm going to test myself before starting the gluten-free diet. (most sensible thing to do) Since I haven't been eating gluten for a few days how long should I eat gluten (ie bread etc) before having a blood test at the doctors? Thanks Luke...
  9. I'm only on my second day of 'gluten-free' but I've had some minor stomach aches and a headache already. Is this normal or a bad sign? Also, instead of making another thread just thought I'd ask, what is the difference between a detox diet and a gluten-free diet? I hear a prolonged detox diet isn't good for you. Luke
  10. Topic title really says it all. I started my gluten-free diet yesterday and was just wondering others experiences.
  11. I live in the UK and I can't for the life of me find anything about gluten on the packaging. It has glucose syrup in it which apparently can sometimes be made of wheat. I mean Nesquik milkshake powder. Does anyone have any idea and is it safer for me to chuck it? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the advice. I hear there are so many possibilities with food intolerances that I would be better off going to the doctor and asking for a blood test to check for any food intolerances with a single sample. Is this possible? It seems better then spending money on a specific gluten test kit.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys. I'm amazed to find out how many people can have celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Isn't it the most common of food intolerances? Some foods I see will specifically say 'gluten-free' on the back. I also have never heard of it before and am going to take the test on monday. If it is down to this, which I think it may be...
  14. Well basically for a year I've had this odd feeling and it is hard to put into words but I'll try. I've felt odd, not quite dizzy in the sense that it affects my balance (it's perfect) but that I don't feel healthy. I feel a bit out of it so to speak. Like I say, everything is fine in my cognitive skills but I get more 'dizzy' when I'm on the PC for a...
  15. Thanks for the post. But I can't really find anything other then joint pain and fatigue in that list so I don't think it's this. I don't think I have digestive problems although I may have. The home test kit I'm getting is pretty reliable I hear, just a pin prick of blood and you get an answer.
