  1. We suspect Celiac with our Dd. I removed gluten from her diet before I know I shouldn't because of testing. She improved so much, so that was my answer. I am still curious to know what a genetic test would reveal. She's been gluten free since Feb. and doesn't have a ped. appt. until September. What test should I ask for that she doesn't need to be glutened...
  2. Anyone know the definitive answer to this one?
  3. DD started having night terrors and broke out in what I call her "gluten rash"-at the elbows, wrists, and chest. She has huge circles under her eyes. I've been very diligent about what she eats, cc, etc. I don't know what can be causing these symptoms-then I read the article on the main page about the possibility of strawberries causing symptoms because they...
  4. That may be true, but if someone is sensitive to wheat or has an allergy to it in addition to Celiac, it can bother them. Any time DD would use shampoo that had wheat protein, she would break out from head to toe in a rash. The same rash that she gets when she eats any type of gluten. Some people have to be careful that way.
  5. We have seen great improvement with DD since going gluten-free. We have not had her tested since we can't seem to get a clear answer as to whether the tests are accurate and how long you need to be glutened, etc. to be tested. We don't want to put her or ourselves through all of that right now. Her doctor does think Celiac is a major possibility since...
  6. I'm not sure about the dairy. Sorry I'm not help there. As far as the insomnia issue, my DD's sleep improved greatly a few weeks after going gluten-free. She had trouble with night terrors though. I am sure the folks on this board will have some input, but you might try the "sleep" board as well. Hang in there!
  7. I have only found California Baby at Target. I love the stuff and use it for me too! DD has such a bad reaction to wheat protein found in almost all regular shampoos. Took us awhile to figure it out. You can use the bubble bath solution and water it down a bit and it makes great bubbles to blow too.
  8. Our DD never slept well. She is almost 2.5 y/o. She started sleeping better and stopped having night terrors when we cut out the gluten. If she gets glutened, her sleep is wretched. In my opinion, it's something to consider seriously.
  9. Thank you all for your help. We have decided not to have DD tested. I think her dr. while good intentioned is very poorly informed. DH and I initially agreed not to have her tested-just to do the diet. She seems to be breaking out in a lot of rashes, so we thought maybe she had additional allergies. That is why we took her to the ped. in the first place....
  10. DD who is 2.5 years old has been off of gluten for 1.5 months. She has shown signs of improvement on the diet. That is enough for me, but not for DH. So we decided to get the blood test done. I know that it is not always accurate. How long should she be back on gluten to get the most accurate results? I forgot to ask her ped. today. I will call her tomorrow...
  11. I have a Whole Foods about 45 minutes away which I am happy to go to to stock up on supplies. I will be having a new baby soon and would like to fiind a good online source so I don't have to make the trip with 2 little ones. I usually buy the Bob's Red Mill flours. Is there someplace better? Can you get them in larger quantities? Thank you for any help...
  12. I posted this on the sleep board on Sunday and haven't gotten any responses, so I thought I'd post here too since everyone is so very helpful: We've been gluten-free for about one month. DD is almost 2.5. While her sleep has improved, we've noticed that the two times we think she was glutened by accident, she had night terrors again. Tonight she ate 2...
  13. We've been gluten-free for about one month. DD is almost 2.5. While her sleep has improved, we've noticed that the two times we think she was glutened by accident, she had night terrors again. Tonight she ate 2 bites of my husbands rice from Chinese takeout. It had a tiny bit of sauce on it, but barely any. He didn't think anything of it. (Although I know...
  14. That's what I thought too, but I wanted some feedback from some of you who are more experienced!
  15. We've been gluten-free for almost a month. DD's sleep has improved among other things. The other day my husband gave her Mc. Donald's fries. Later I called the company and they said they have wheat in them. That night she was crazy. Wouldn't sleep, night terrors, just plain wild. Does that sound like she was glutened by the fries, or is it a coincidence?
