  1. Hi. Kara. I was wondering if you were ever checked for pernicious anemia? With pernicious anemia you have a B12 deficiency caused by the gastric mucosa(in the stomach) not secreting intrinsic factor. So vitamin B12 cannot be absorbed. Pernicious anemia is diagnosed with: ~low serum B12 levels ~Symptoms: sore tongue, anorexia, abdominal pain, nausea...
