  1. So I don't know where to turn! Nobody can figure out what's wrong with me, doctors aren't helping, and the healthcare system is moving so slowly, like it doesn't matter that I'm miserable and in so much pain!! Basically, I went gluten-free last summer and initially felt better. Slowly I've discovered other food intolerances including dairy and soy. ...
  2. what could cause an enlarged liver? I have my HIDA scan next Monday, which can't seem to get here fast enough. The pain hasn't diminished any and it hurts to bend, twist, or be in a odd position for any period of time. Sleeping has started to be really painful, unless I lie flat on my back, but once I fall asleep, I move and then when I wake up I'm in lots...
  3. Thanks for all the responses! Scissorhappygirl - no I don't think it's anything wrong with my ribs. The pain has now migrated to the front under my rib cage as well and gets much worse after I eat, especially when I eat fat. I also have elevated liver enzymes, so they think something might be wrong with my liver or gall bladder. So now I'm getting an HIDA...
  4. Yeah - it is for all granolas. I don't know why they haven't posted anything about it online but I e-mailed the company and they verified that they changed the recipe and soon all the stores will be selling the new kind. I guess they're just behind on their web update
  5. I know there have been a lot of people who have commented in past threads about how the Enjoy Life Granola is basically inedible because it is rock hard and impossible to chew. Well I thought everyone might want to know that they've reformulated their recipe, and now it is soooooo much better! The consistency is more like that of regular granola and it is...
  6. so I went to the doctor yesterday (though not my normal dr - she's away all week, so I had to see another GP in her office, and I can't get an appointment with my gastro until august!) and it was far from helpful! She didn't know what to make of the digestive issues, didn't really know what my back pain could be from, and I left feeling like none of my questions...
  7. Where can I get a sublingual B12? Just at a regular store? Should I consult my dr. before taking it or just go for it? I'm pretty sure that I'm not CCing myself: I bought all new cooking utensils and pots/pans once I found out that I was gluten intolerant. I don't drink anything but water (from the tap or refrigerator) and occasionally orange juice...
  8. Thank you for responding!! I'll do my best to tell you what I'm eating. It's pretty limited, since I've been trying to stay very safe in an effort to ensure that I'm not ingesting something that is making things worse. So the staples of my diet right now are: -Fresh fruits and veggies (main ones are apples, oranges, bananas, grapefruits, sweet potatoes...
  9. So I went gluten free last summer and felt better for a while, but still had some unresolved issues. As time has gone by, I've found that soy was causing problems, so I stopped eating all soy products. Several weeks ago I tried to add dairy back in (because I was hoping that my lactose intolerance had been resolved), but I reacted to everything I tried with...
  10. I don't believe that I have a problem with casein, but I always had a problem with yogurt and cheese before, even though they have low levels of lactose. My lactose breath test was crazy (they said they'd never seen such a bad case) so my doctor told me that I just must be an exception and my body really couldn't tolerate any levels of lactose, even trace...
  11. I've been gluten-free for 9 months now, and I'm beginning to reintroduce dairy into my diet, since I'm hoping that I can digest lactose again now that my villi should have healed. I'm slightly desperate for this to work, as I've recently found out that I am also intolerant to soy, so right now I feel like there are so many things I can't eat, especially protein...
  12. See this thread: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=53126
  13. I really want to make some pumpkin pudding for Christmas, but when I was at the store they were all out of the Libby's plain canned pumpkin that I normally buy. I have a jar of 365 brand canned pumpkin in my pantry, but I've been avoiding eating it because it says "may contain traces of wheat" in small print on the back, and with the recent press about Whole...
  14. Ursa Major - thank you so much for your response. It really made me feel better. I know that if the diet works for me then thats what I need to do - I guess its just hard to have all the tests come back negative, and it makes me feel like maybe I'm missing something or its all in my head. I guess I just wanted the certainty of a test result to back me up...
  15. OK - I don't know what to make of any of this. Negative bloodwork, negative biopsies, negative gene tests, but I went gluten free after all the testing was done (don't worry - I ate plenty of gluten until all the tests were taken) and I've been feeling so much better ever since. No gas, no stomach pain, no excessive thirst, etc. etc. But all my tests were...
  16. elonwy - it's not the milk, since I already know that I'm lactose intolerant, so I've been putting soy milk on it. I am thinking that maybe my system just hasn't returned to normal yet as I am still so new to the diet, and I just need to give everything time to even out. I've also been really stressed lately, so I don't know if that contributed at all...
  17. Yes, I have made sure that the box specifically states Gluten Free on it and doesn't list barley malt as an ingredient. It still seems to me that the liklihood of contamination is seriously high - I can't find information anywhere as to what they've done to ensure that the rice chex remain gluten free. All they say is that they have "taken the requisite steps...
  18. I've only been on the gluten-free diet for two weeks, and I've been feeling somewhat improved - gassiness, stomach pain, cramps, etc. are all gone, but I'm still experiencing fatigue (which could partially due to my low weight), abnormal stool, and some weird feelings in my stomach. Anyway, onto my question. I've been writing down what I've been eating and...
  19. Okay - so I've been having some major issues with digestion (as well as some other things) for more than 6 months now. My gastroenterologist sent me for a hydrogen breath test, and the result was that I am lactose intolerant (as I'd suspected, and had already cut out all lactose, only to find that my symptoms got better for a bit then returned with a vengeance...
  20. Thanks for the welcome and responses. I will go check out the exercise and fitness forum - I didn't even realize there was one!

  22. I'm new to this forum and I've only read a few other posts, so I hope this question hasn't been already asked. But I'm currently being scheduled for an endoscopy and having blood tests run because my doctor suspects that I may have celiacs. I fit all the symptoms to the T, and it would really explain a lot. But in the meantime, I'm continuing to eat normally...
