All the recipes for bread that I can find and the ones on the side of the packages all indicate that they are to be made with a bread maker. I don't have one nor do I have a big standard mixer. I have my hands and a regular old hand mixer. Can I still make bread?

My 16 year old son has an extremely bloodshot eye. This has been going on for about a month. At first I thought it was pink eye but there are no other symptoms and the doctor has ruled that out. The eye doctor said it is episcleritis. I have been reading up and it is linked to many types of autoimmune disorders. It goes back and forth between eyes. It is...

Has anyone used this before? My son's pediatrican is suggesting that we start this because he is soooo constipated. But I went on line and it seems like there is some concerns about whether it really works or not. Thanks

ARCHIVED What Do You Think...celiac?ADevoto replied to lisaemtp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I have the exact symptoms. I had a blood test through the "gold" standard lab (lots of money later) and it came back showing the genes but negative on tests. My doctor discounted my symptoms and said there was nothing wrong. I went on gluten free diet and felt better pretty quickly. Now I am having problems staying on it but I as soon as I eat gluten my diaherra...

I need some advice because my 13 year old son's pediatrican seems to think that elevated total cholesterol and high phosphorus is ok. So maybe I am missing something so I would appreciate any comments. His cholesterol test is: Total cholesterol = 175 (<170) Triglyceride = 83 (<150) HDL = 45 (>40) LD = 106 (<160) Cholesterol/HDL ratio ...

ARCHIVED Negative Fecal Fat But UnderweightADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My 12 year old son has the following results from Enterolab - Antigliadin IgA of 128 units (normal is <10 Antitissue Transglutaminase of 70 (normal is <10 Fecal Fat score of <300 (normal is <300) They recommend that he go on a gluten free diet which I agree. But I am confused. He is very underweight (5%) but it shows no malabsorb issues...

ARCHIVED Underweight But No MalnutritionADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My 12 year old son got his test results back as follows: Antigliadin IGA = 128 - <10 is normal Antitissue IgA = 70 - <10 is normal Fecal Fat score = <300 - <300 is normal. So, they recommended a gluten free diet which I can understand. But what I don't get is why his fecal fat score is normal. He is in the 5% in weight. I would think that...

ARCHIVED Entrolab Vs Promethius Lab TestADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I have my 12 year old scheduled for a blood test later today but now I am rethinking it. It is a big deal for him to get blood tests done (autistic) and I am mad about how my own test from Promethus came back. My blood tests came back negative except for genes. I know that it isn't the labs fault but after all of your wonderful advice I went gluten-free and...

ARCHIVED Migraines And CeliacADevoto replied to ADevoto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Sorry about that last post. New to posting. I am not on a gluten-free diet because the doctors keep telling me that it isn't related and that just because I have the gene doesn't mean I have it. Especially since my blood test came back negative. Although, I still have all sorts of symptoms. Soo frustrating.

ARCHIVED Migraines And CeliacADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I have recently had a blood test done and it came back with one of the main celiac genes but everything else was negative. I have always had severe intestinal problems which all the doctors tell me are IBS. I have been living with this since I was 12. But what is more of a problem is that I have severe migraines a lot. (6 times or so a month). No medicine...

ARCHIVED Positive Gene, negative Tests, Symptoms HelpADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I need a reality check from all of you. I have been going round and round with this issue for years. Here is the bottom line: Three children and husband - one child is short for age but no digestive issues. Nothing with husband either. Other 2 children (twins) test results: BOth have DQ2 (one has an additional HLA-DQB1 *0201, 0602) One tested through...

ARCHIVED Gene Result QuestionADevoto replied to ADevoto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms They just said that the HLA - DQ2 is the main gene that predisposes to gluten sensitivity and celiac. Can also prodisse to microscopic colitis and other autoimmune syndromes. Nothing about DQ1. But Dr. Fine did return an email to me that just said the above and that DQ1 usually doesn't lead to celiac but to sensitivity only. I just wanted to understand...

ARCHIVED Gene Result QuestionADevoto replied to ADevoto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Thank you , thank you, thank you. I thought no one was ever going to reply!! That was very helpful. and actually cleared up somethings. It was very interesting that you said that that the DQ1 (I think) was tied to nuerological problems because he has many of these that we haven't been able to figure out why. Thank you so much!

ARCHIVED Gene Result QuestionADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I finally got our son's stool and gene test back from Enterolab. Here are the results. I have a question about the gene results - Does this mean he has multiply genes or just subtypes . It is very confusing. Gluten sensitivity stool test - 13 units (shows sensitivity) All other tests for normal Gene test: Molecular analysis - HLA-DQB1 *0201, 0602...

ARCHIVED Enterolab QuestionADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Please don't take this badly but has anyone had a negative result with a test from Enterolab? It seems that all the posting always come back positive in someway but they were negative through other doctors. I just want to be careful - I have sent in my son's complete stool and gene test to Enterolab and just wanted to make sure that I was dealing with...

Hi everyone, Here is my situation. I have twin 10 year olds. Daughter has one of the celiac genes and has a really big problem with constipation. I took her to a major hospital where they did all the blood tests and they all came back negative except for the gene. The hospital said that we didn't need to do the diet just becasue she had the gene. They thought...

ARCHIVED Tissue Transglutaminase Test ResultADevoto posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My 10 year old son's tests all came back negative (IgG, IgA, Autoantibodies, Endomysial and the Tissue Transg). But I though his TT result seemed weird. It was 0.1. In the description they say negative is less than 7.0. So, that says to me that he is really negative. Any comments?

Hi, Need help. I have twins that look like they may be celiac if nothing else gulten sensitive. The doctor wants us to try the diet but my one is losing it over it. He loves pasta, breads..... and he is literally throwing rages over it. I know that there is pasta... out there but he can tell the difference. Do you just throw everything out and tell...

ARCHIVED All Tests Seem To Be Negative Now WhatADevoto replied to ADevoto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Thanks again for the additional replies. The doctors at Stanford do not want to do a bioposy (sp). So, I guess I will see what the lactose test shows on Monday and then make a plan. Probably will go on diet and get other family members tested.
