  1. Well, I am 2 weeks into mine and I know how you feel. I have always been active and into sports, so that afforded me the ability to pretty much eat anything I want. With that freedom, I celebrated every food possible. With a nice slap in the face (and some severe pain), I learned that gluten rules much of the free world (at least the stuff that I thought...
  2. Ok, I may be the only one that feels this way, but here goes: I was recently diagnosed (2 weeks ago), so this is ALL new to me. I went out to try to repress my urge to say "F this, I am eating what I want" and buy the stuff I need to eat. Upon finding a local store that has a whole section on gluten free items; I come to find that "gluten free" somehow...
  3. Wow, you see - this is why this is helpful! I have the exact same reaction to milk! I thought I was just being mental (I drank/drink) a lot of milk and I have really cut back because I feel like I am swallowing lead weights. I thought I was just being mental. Lord, if you have a little bit of compassion in you - please let me keep milk! I gave up brownies...
  4. Well, you and I are on the same page. What you are seeing is the results of the raw particles being in the air. Tossing dough and large mixing will throw these particles in the air, and thus you come in contact with them at Costco and other places you visit. However, unless you get sick at Costco the second you walk in the door, you have seen that the particles...

Yes, the particles can be in the air for a certain amount of time, but they are refering to basic particles (the flour part because of the fine nature of the particle). The result smell (the wonder smell of baked bread)...
  6. Thanks, all of you. I even went as far as listening to NPR yesterday, as they had a whole hour on celiac stuff. I am going to make a really nerdy comment and say that I at least feel like I am not on the middle of an island for the first time in 2 weeks. So now I have a tough question - Would a Mexican restaurant serve a gluten free cheese enchilada...
  7. Yeah, I figured I would do a lot of reading. Not too often someone comes up and says "Hey, guess what, I have something to change your life! Have fun!"
  8. Wel,, thank you soooo much. Every little bit helps. How'd you know you had it?
  9. Well, I just got "diagnosed" just a few days ago (The biopsy said yes, the blood work didn't). The doctor feels that my reactions after eating gluten free for a week verify that I have it. I went from an entire month of pain and bloating to relative relaxation, energy and clear-headedness (is that a word?). Here's what I want to know (and I know this is probably...
