  1. Okay, so I'm still brand-spankin' new to this and learning slowly what I can eat, but I'm finding that I often eat the same things as a "security blanket." Some of it is expense, too. I'm so paranoid about screwing up that I'm only eating a small handful of foods in substitute for the ones I used to eat. I know I'll get bored if I don't broaden...
  2. He hasn't been tested yet. I'm calling the ped this week to arrange it, but now I'm almost positive he has celiac disease. My son is 14 in July, and he's the world's pickiest eater. I'm slowly making my way to gluten-free eating, and I'm somewhat picky, too, but NOTHING like he is. As well as he's doing with behavior, there are issues that are still a problem...
  3. Thanks for this. It helps. I do have the Monthly Pass, which includes ETools, and I would never give my meeting. I just have to explore the ETools more and use all the "goodies." LIZARD
  4. OMG...you lost your voice??!! That would kill me!! I sing constantly, and it's the only thing that keeps me from going over the edge most days. (Now Im wondering if that's what's happening to my son. He's nearly 14, so his voice is deepening, but it has a funky raspiness to it...actually, my brother's does, too. Hmm...) LIZARD
  5. Anyone else have these annoying, persistent effects when you were just starting to go gluten-free? This has been a problem for a long time, and I thought it was thyroid (I was dx'ed hypo last summer), but it's been pronounced normal now, so is it a celiac thing? I am constantly clearing my throat and using eye drops, but I have no other signs of allergies...
  6. Well, I have had a couple of bouts of reflux before, and it doesn't feel anything like that; it's just a "gunky" sensation. gluten-free I can do, but I can't even fathom going CF! I love cheese too much! I already feel better, even after just a few gluten-free meals. Can it really happen that fast?? LIZARD, who can't wait to be human again!
  7. So...I just went gluten-free this week (and not completely, as I'm still learning), went to my WW meeting, was OVER points...and LOST 2.2 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This stuff really works! Now I just have to get my son on it. LIZARD
  8. I am a brand-new member here, and I'm so glad you posted this!! I am also struggling to lose and have actually gained back 17 lbs after losing 95 on WW. I have learned that there are some others, too, and I had a talk with a nutritionist from a celiac group about it yesterday. We both think it's because gluten was lowering my already low blood sugar, making...
  9. Thank you, Lizard00. How funny...I thought I was unique! I was first called "LIZARD" (all caps; he was yelling at me) by my best friend from high school, and it just stuck. I really hope it's as easy as everyone keeps saying. I'm a picky eater by nature (neuro issues that triggered sensory integration problems), so it'll be even more fun than...
  10. Hey, folks. I'm brand-spankin' new here--just reg'd a couple of minutes ago. I was dx'ed with celiac disease on Monday and am still trying to get my footing on what to eat, so suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated. I was over 300 lbs 3 years ago and joined WW in August of '05. I quickly took off 95 lbs (in a year and a half), and with...
