ARCHIVED Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese
LindaB replied to Billygoat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have tried their products more than once and have gotten bowel discomfort lasting for a day. Sometimes it doesn't seem to bother me and then if I have it very often I do not feel well at all so end up throwing it out. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Taken Skelaxin?
LindaB posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My doctor gave me a sample of Skelaxin and I did find this drug on two list as being gluten free, but cannot contact the manufacturer and wondered if anyone has taken this and if it is in fact gluten free? Linda B -
ARCHIVED Why Am I Not Improving?
LindaB replied to Jojes's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi all, I have been gluten free for over a year and still have a problem with fiber. I do not eat any veggies except squash and cauliflower. I can eat fresh cantaloupe and canned fruit but no berries at all. Until recently I could not eat beef except if it was ground and can only eat a pork chop, but no other pork. I find I have a hard time with... -
ARCHIVED Painful To Sit For Very Long
LindaB replied to LindaB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Lily, Does your discomfort feel like a band right under your ribcage? I have found out that corn can cause real discomfort so have cut that out, but still drink Sprite which has corn syrup in it and it does not seem to make a difference. I feel that it is just the bowel still in the healing process. Sometimes it feels like a hard feeling like gas... -
ARCHIVED Painful To Sit For Very Long
LindaB posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been gluten free for over a year and still have trouble sitting up for very long because it is uncomfortable. It feels like a band across my abdomen just below the ribcage where the small bowel is located. This feeling goes away after not eating for awhile like overnight, but during the day it is directly related to eating. Has anyone else had this... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Here Feel Worse On This Diet?
LindaB replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wrote earlier and have that awful hungry feeling and the pain in the area around the navel. I do take Protonix and it helps to curb the pain in that area. Just to be sure I need to take it, I have stopped a couple of times and then the uncomfortable feeling comes back so it seems with this disease we may just have too much acid in that area. I know I... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Here Feel Worse On This Diet?
LindaB replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gillian, Since being on this gluten free diet for over a year now I have the same feelings you do in the stomach and get very, very hungry and feel that I have to eat right now in order to feel better. My stomach will feel raw which I never had before. After eating I will start to feel better. I had my tests done after six months and was down to negative... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Really Down
LindaB replied to seeking-wholeness's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Newbie, I am post menopausal so that must be why I was put on the Fosomax. I am 58 years old and was just diagnosed with Celiac last in December of 2002. My doctor said after being ont he medication for a year he would send me for another bone scan to see if it is working--I sure hope so. Linda B. -
ARCHIVED Feeling Really Down
LindaB replied to seeking-wholeness's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Newbie, I am Lutheran and I explained to our pastor that I cannot have the bread and she completely understood and knew that some churches do have gluten-free communion wafers, however, we do not. So when I go up for communion, the pastor does not offer me bread, but I do take the juice. You are not less of a person because you cannot have the bread... -

ARCHIVED How To Eat Vegetables?
LindaB replied to gaceff's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I also cannot eat vegetables except for squash and cauliflower which are soft and easier to digest. I do drink orange juice with no problem and eat canned pears and as far as fresh fruits the only ones I can tolerate are bananas and cantaloupe so far. I have been on this diet for a year. Meat is another problem except for chicken and fish which don't seem... -
ARCHIVED Tums Gluten Free?
LindaB posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have seen several posts saying they take Tums, but I have not seen them listed as gluten free on any of the sites. Are they and if not are Rolaids? What does anyone take for that gassy feeling after eating? Linda B. -
I use vanilla flavored rice milk by Pacific. I am on the west coast and it is made here. It does not taste too bad and is labeled right on the box gluten free. I use it in baking and just to drink. Linda B.

Lisa, When I took the Natural Calm it caused pain and a general feeling of not feeling well. I have the opposite of most Celiacs, I was always constipated, but since going on this diet a year ago I am no longer having that problem. Linda

I too have social anxiety especially when it involves having to take food somewhere. My problems are better than a year ago and I am also on anti-anxiety medication but have weaned down from what I was taking last year. My worry is how I am going to feel after eating because even after a year I still get at times terrible gas pains in my abdomen that sitting...

ARCHIVED Chewing Gum
LindaB replied to LindaB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you all for responding about the gum issue. I am going to buy some Wrigleys chewing gum and try it. Linda -
I am confused about chewing gum. Several lists say chewing gum is gluten free and yet it has gum base in it which is on the forbidden list. Who is right and does anyone actually chew any of these gums. I used to chew gum frequently because it helps with hearburn, and would love to try it again. Linda

Hi all, You definitely want to be asleep during your endoscopy. On my second one I woke up near the end of it and it was no fun at all! They told on leaving that if I had a problem, go to the hospital for treatment. Also, I have that pain above my navel also. I have been on this diet for over a year now and still get it and not necessarily from gluten...

Welda, what kind of recipes do you use for sweets? I would love to be able to eat dessert that doesn't have dairy or chocolate in it. I have made a couple of cakes using mixes, but most of the cookbooks I have all use things which I still cannot tolerate. I cannot have chocolate or peanut butter or dairy. I do use some butter and it seems to be ok, but...

I am devastated that all the information was lost. I have been on this diet for a year this month and did have my gallbladder out a year ago January. I am not feeling great yet and am still trying to find things I can eat without feeling bad. I guess my damage was more than some others. It is not that I am eating gluten, but other foods bother me now...
