  1. I'll help you with 2 perspectives. Before diagnosis, my daughter 11 at time, looked like she came from a 3rd world country. Twiggy arms and legs and a big bloated belly, couldn't stand anything tight. Me on the other hand not Celiac, but lets just say rather on the "fluffy" side. Tight belts don't bother me a bit, just gives me incentive to try and suck...
  2. Here is a basic "Cream of" recipe from Allrecipes: * 2 cups instant nonfat dry milk powder * 10 tablespoons cornstarch * 1/2 cup mashed potato flakes * 1/4 cup chicken bouillon granules(herb ox) * 2 tablespoons dried vegetable flakes * 1 teaspoon onion powder * 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram * 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder...
  3. If you know your child reacts to gluten. I wouldn't put him thru 2 months of torture. He is too young to even understand why he feels so bad. My then 11 yr. old said she would starve herself before she would go back to eating gluten, so ped. and I agreed an official diagnoses wasn't necessary, it wasn't going to change anything. Official diagnosis or not...
  4. I buy the Probiotic Pearls for my daughter. She can't have any dairy, and was having alot of problems earlier this summer. So I have been giving her those and fiber gummies, as I thought some extra fiber might help. Those have worked well for her. Just a thought in case you can't keep eating the yogurt.
  5. My dd 13, can have corn in moderation if it is in something. Corn bread, chips etc..., she just can't over do it But whole kernel, she can't touch. No corn on the cob, or even mixed veggies with corn she has to pick it out.
  6. I don't know about gluten. But I know alot can pass through. I could not have any dairy the entire 1 1/2 yrs. I nursed my daughter. If I had dairy she was gassy, cranky, mucous poop and broke out in eczema. HTH
  7. I can't say it was the healthiest. But as a kid I remember stopping at a store along the way picking up cheese, maybe some lunch meat and a bag of corn chips and eating that for lunch. I loved it! My daughter thinks a great travel lunch is some Terra Veggie Chip and reduced fat pepperoni. Throw in some apples and baby carrots and it actually is a reasonably...
  8. We do alot of our cooking over the fire. I have taken stew meat and a bunch of vegetables. Thru them all together in a large pot and cooked them over the fire. Used mountain pie makers and made pizza pies using gluten free bread. I second making meal packets and cooking them over the fire. We usually just eat a big breakfast, then just nibble for lunch and...
  9. I wanted to let you know you are not alone! I am in the same boat. My 13 has a "tentative" Celiac diagnosis since the ped and I decided not to put her through the scope and her blood work was negative. So it is in her medical record the doctor would back me up and still I find myself saying tentative instead of just saying, yes she has Celiac. Just because...
  10. It's funny you say that, when I put him on the gluten free diet which just sort of naturally lowers the carbohydrates, at least the bad ones. I noticed his levels dropped back down to a average level. We went to Burger King tonight and my dh said to let him get what he wanted. He got so sick afterward!Just reaffirms my thoughts that he needs to be gluten...
  11. Thanks for the replies, at least now I know it is a definite possibility that is could be a symptom. I thought about the possibility of diabetes, as my mother has been type 1 since age 12, and his blood sugar runs on the upper edge of normal. But doctor has ruled it out for now. I do wish the doctors would take me more seriously. I am considering...
  12. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone here can help me. I have a 13 yr. old, with a "tentative" celiac diagnosis at 11. Ped. would have had to send her 2 hr. away for biopsy and my daughter came out and told us she would starve before eating gluten again. Hence the "tentative" diagnoses. Problem now is my 7 yr son, he is starting to show the same symptoms...
  13. OMG! I have been researching gluten all over the internet. I just found out that it can manifest in tooth problems. My dd has had so many dental problems over the years. No one could ever suggest a reason. I have gotten so frustrated over the years, I knew her teeth were being brushed well. I did it myself, to be sure for years. Used flouride rinses etc...
  14. My dd is 11 and we just started her on a trial gluten free diet. She gets upset stomch, very, very easy. She runs to the bathroom after almost every meal. We do know she is somewhat lactose intolerant, can't eat choclate or quite a few artificial sweetners. But her problems seem to be getting worse, no matter how closely we watch what she eats. I am also...
