  1. Any one know of a GI in chicago that can run blood work?
  2. Can someone suggest a physician. Doesn't seem like the one that I go to knows anything about Celiac. I live in the Chicago area by the way. To shayFL, you mention that you had a complete celiac panel through directlabs. What is a complete celiac panel? Like what tests does it include? Where else can I get a complete celiac panel?
  3. I went to the University of Chicago Celiac center annual free screening. My test result came back negative, however, I am still experiencing stomach discomfort from time to time. So I call them back to see if I can get another test, or a biopsy. They told me I should go to my primary doctor for another tests. I don't have a primary doctor, I call them a few...

  5. I had a free screening at the University of Chicago and here is the result: Anti- Human Tissue Transglutaminase igA ELISA : Value: 0.1 U/ml Reference Range: <4.0 U/ml The result stated: Less than 4 is negative / Greater than 4 is positive Since my result is that low, does that mean most likely I am not gluten intolerant?
  6. Thanks for the reply everyone. To the previous poster, I have not seen a doctor about this. Has anyone get their screening or treatment at the university of Chicago? Are they good?
  7. I have been trying to stay gluten free for a few months. But it's hard to avoid gluten eating at a university dining hall. So I might have eaten gluten without knowing. I avoid eating bread and other food that obviously have gluten. But there might be cross-contamination and other things. So I wouldn't say I am eating a completely free-of-gluten diet. ...
  8. Thanks for the replies. I am having a blood test. How accurate is the test?
  9. I am on a gluten free diet right now. I will get tested for Celiac this weekend. I have heard that I should eat something that contains gluten before the test otherwise it may not detect the disease. So how long before the test should I start eating gluten? A day? A week? I need some professional feedback. Thank you!
  10. Is Celiac a disease that someone is born with or someone can get it at any time during their life? Another question: for those who have short-stature as a result of malnutrition from Celiac, do they usually have proportional body, but short? Or do they have short limbs, normal trunk, or short trunk, normal size limbs? Thanks
  11. My mom is taller than her mother, and my father is about 2 to 3 inches taller than his father.
  12. My ex had 2 brothers, one is 5'7" and the other was probably 6'. ---Are you sure they are related? 5'7'' and 6' ? My dad is about 5'7'', mom flat 5' me about 5'6'' sister about 5'3''
  13. So at what height relative to your family member is considered short stature in the medical sense? Short stature due to disease or health problem not genetic. I know the most accurate way is to look at the growth chart. But I don't have one. Let's say if someone is shorter than his father by a lot, would that be enough to tell that his short stature is cause...
  14. Well I am going get tested for Celiac Disease in November, I don't have any symptoms, except that I am quite short. I am about the same height as my father. Up until I was 14, I was about the same height as my peers, then years went by many are taller than me. So from what I've describe, should I be worried that my lack of growth is due to malnourishment...
  15. So you wouldn't say that blood on the stool is related to celiac?
  16. This morning I notice there are red spots on the stool, I am not sure if they are blood. Has anyone experience this, is this a symptom of Celiac or something else?
