  1. Ellie was "officially" labelled FTT at the doctors yesterday. We saw it comeing, but it was still really upsetting. We're devastated. We don't even know if this gluten-free thing is going to work. It really was just a shot-in-the-dark. If it doesn't work, then we're back at square one only WORSE. Ellies getting worse all the time. Its heartbreaking...
  2. This is our first year, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but we're going to swap candy. We'll bring some with us trick-or-treating in case she asks for some, and the candy she gets we'll trade when we get home for gluten-free candy. Hope it works!!
  3. Glad to hear everything is going so well!!! We are also on day 4, and already a difference! I definately agree with the mass eating (I've never seen my 16 month old eat this much!!!) and she too had an OBSESSION with her sippy cup. We haven't seen an improvment there yet, shes still drinking about 5-6 sippy cups per day, but hopefully that will ease off...
  4. Hello! Also from Canada here! A tiny town about 5 hours east of Vancouver, BC. I have a 16 month old daughter that has been "tentatively" diagnosed with celiacs. We're trying out the diet to see! We don't have a lot of the "big-name products", but we have a lady in town that makes all gluten-free frozen foods so we order a ton from her! Anything you...
  5. Just curious how to deal with this? We eat out about twice a month, or whenever we go to the nearest city, which is about two hours away. I don't know how to order food for Ellie! All of their baby plates or kids meals have gluten. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!!!
  6. Hi there!! I'm very new here myself! I have a 16 month old daughter with possible celiacs or wheat-related issues. We chose not to get Ellie tested. We've done the blood tests and they are useless in my opinion, but the biopsy just seems too unreliable and invasive for someone her age, so we decided that if the diet works then theres our answer!!! I...
  7. It seems like I'm the minority hee, but my 16 month old daughter has been on it less than a week and we noticed some VERY MILD improvements. Her belly swelling is much less, and her appetite seems to be improving. Not sure about weight gain or anything else though as its definately way too soon to tell!
  8. Ok, I'm really, really new at this....what oils are okay? I don't so a lot of baking, but Ellie loves fish, so what can I cook it in? What about spices/herbs? Thanks in advance??
  9. " At ten months they discovered swollen lymph nodes in her groin, never found a reason, they are still swollen. " Thats so weird!!! Ellies always had swollen lymph nodes at the base of her skull. Nobody can give us a reason for it!
  10. Me again...hope I'm not being a pain in the butt! We're definatley starting gluten-free for Ellie, but I'm having a tough time with food choices. Snacks are easy enough, but meals are tougher. Anyone have any good ideas, or know of a website I can look at? I checked out the recipe board here, but most of them are adult meals. Shes only 16 months old...
  11. Thank you for your posts. They're very reassuring, which is definately what I need!!! I actually think that we're going to try the gluten-free idea. Its really overwhelmig though. I can't any really good lists "heres what you can and can't eat" and I'm really worried about accidently taking away some key vital nutrient. Its kinda scary.....I also worry...
  12. Hi everyone...I'm brand new here, also brand new to the whole celiacs thing. Hopefully I won't have to have anything to do with it, but we'll see. I have a 16 month old named Ellie who has had health problems since day one. Heres a quick list of the major problems: -Severe weight gain issues. She was 9 1/2 pounds at birth putting her above the 97th...
