  1. I am South African and have found this forum to be the most helpful and informative resource for dealing with my son's celiac. I am interested to know if anyone else on this forum is South African as I would like to find out more about local products and doctors.
  2. My toddler ate two slices of wholewheat toast last week while we were challenging him and has had an upset stomach since then (over a week now). Before that he had been gluten free for 6 months. So we know that wheat or gluten is definitely an issue, but I am wondering if this is usual for it to take so long to clear up? Please can some other moms share their...
  3. My toddler son loves toast, but cant tolerate gluten, soy, dairy or yeast. Does anyone have a nice tasty bread recipe that doesn't contain any of these things?
  4. My son seems to have reacted to the gluten-free bread I made for him which contained instant yeast. There was nothing else new in his diet and when I stopped the bread, his tummy cleared. Has anyone heard of this before? Does yeast contain gluten?? Or maybe there is a seperate yeast issue going on. Advice please!!

Does instant yeast also contain gluten? Or maybe it's a seperate issue all together??

Poor little thing had loose, revolting stools a few hours after the first slice and is still having them 2 days later. He also seems to be in discomfort and not interested...

We cut out dairy and gluten as we weren't sure what was causing his tummy problems. Anyway, cutting them both out seemed to make a huge difference so we continued. I tried reintroducing soy products a while back and at first...
  8. Hi, you can grill chicken by just drizzling olive oil and garlic on it and roasting for 45 mins. then steam some veg and rice. I usually leave out spices to be safe, but then I am happy not to eat salt Or you could make shepherd's pie. Again leave out the spices in the mince, rather use fresh herbs to flavour it. And check the label if you use tomato paste...
  9. I am so relieved to have found this site! And am desperately hoping that someone will be able to identify with my son's story. It all started in January, I won't detail everything here, but my 1 year old had loose, stinky, huge stools with microscopic amounts of blood in them - usually about 4 nappies a day. The ped said it could be celiac but the blood...
