  1. She has been off of gluten for a few months now but has gotten it a few times accidentally here and there. The Enterolab site said that a person already off of gluten shouldn't go back on it for the testing but for someone so young maybe it would be a better idea? She's showing mostly behavioral symptoms. She acts majorly ADHD, she gets grouchy and tired...
  2. My child does display symptoms but I would like to know for sure. I would prefer to avoid a biopsy for her sake. If we did bloodwork would she have to be consuming gluten for it to show up? If a genetic test shows that she carries the gene isn't it safe to assume she would benefit from a gluten free diet?
  3. What is the most reliable test for a three year old? I was thinking probably a genetic screening would be the best bet but how much does it cost? Who does it? What do they look for? False positives or anything like that?
  4. I suspect my 2.5 yr old of Celiac as it runs in my family and I am also have it. She seemed to get better taking her off of gluten for about a month but the other day, she got ahold of some (she ran ahead in the grocery store and stuffed a bunch of french bread into her mouth within like a couple of seconds!) She also got a handful of crackers the next day...

    ARCHIVED Angry Boy!

Behavioral problems are one of my daughter's only symptoms. When she eats gluten she gets SO moody, irritable, and doesn't seem to be able to control her emotions/reactions very well at all. I picked up on it immediately because I feel the same way when I get glutened.
  6. So, he either has it or not and whether or not he appears to have celiacs now, he inevitably will if he has the genetic marker, am I understanding correctly?
  7. Thanks for the reply. I kind of thought it was too good to be true, just wanted to get some other opinions on it.
  8. Excuse my ignorance but why does it matter if something topical is gluten free since it is not entering into the digestive tract? Thanks for the info!
  9. This doesn't really make sense to me but I was just talking to a friend who has an adopted daughter (genetics unknown) so she is going to try to *avoid* the onset of celiacs. I have a 2.5 yr old who I suspect may be sensitive to gluten and I have just decided to try taking her off of gluten for a little while to see if I notice a difference. However, I also...
  10. I really suspect that there is gluten in my capsules I've been taking for supplements. It doesn't say anywhere on the bottle but my symptoms flair up whenever I take them. I need these supplements to help combat my post partem depression and I really need to find some I can take that don't make me feel awful! Does anyone have a list of drug companies that...

    ARCHIVED Bakeware

omg I just realized I have a bunch of pampered chef stone crocks that have been my baking staple. They were probably used for baking wheat like three times before I was diagnosed. Does anyone know how I could clean these efficiently so that I can still use them? They're expensive so I don't want to just throw them out and they also work like a dream for...
  12. I have been gluten free for 6 months now but I still feel weird every once in awhile, like I've gotten it somewhere. I was suspecting the vitamins/supplements I'm taking but I checked the label and gluten isn't on the ingredients list. Does this mean they are gluten free or can they get away with not labeling it? If so, does anyone have a gluten free list...
  13. I keep the enzyme in my purse so that if we go out to eat and there is something I am not absolutely sure is gluten free, I take it. It works if it's a very small amount of gluten but, for me, it does work.
  14. Thank you for the input. So if I test around the 3, 3.5 year mark, is that a reasonable amount of time for their immune systems to develop? Obviously, it probably depends on the person and their diet but generally speaking...
  15. Ok. So basically it just depends on how sensitive an individual is? It may or may not bother me, I just have to figure that out for myself? I'm sorry, I'm new to this and I just want to make sure I know my stuff.
