  1. Thanks for the replies! I definitely don't want to introduce gluten back to my son just to cause damage so he can have a biopsy. I would not want him to have a biopsy in any case. I am not comfortable with putting such a young child under. It does seem like fairly strong evidence that he had a positive on IgA and IgG when he was hardly eating any gluten...
  2. My DS was having some slowed growth issues when he was 15 months old and our doc was worried. She ran blood tests for IgA, IgG and Ttg. His IgA and IgG were both positive and his Ttg was neg. She had both my DS and I go gluten free immediately (me since I was breastfeeding him). We did not want to do a biopsy because he was so little AND had only been...
  3. My DS was having some weight gain issues. Our doc was concerned and ran a blood test and it came back positive for AGA IgA and IgG but negative for tTG. He is only 17 months old so the tTG results kind of make sense (i.e. too young to have built up enough autiantibodies). Also, he eats very little solids so his main exposure to gluten has been through...
  4. Thanks! I will talk to our doc about it. I guess if there is a chance it can be positive it would be worth it and if it's negative I know I could still have it ( and check again at some point when I can do a gluten challenge - i.e. no longer nursing)
  5. Darn, I can't eat gluten at present because I am nursing my 17 month old DS who just got diagnosed with probable celiac. Edited to add: His diagnosis is "probable" because we are forgoing the biopsy as he is so young and it is so invasive. But his antibody blood test was positive 18 days ago. He hasn't been gaining weight so he needed to be gluten free...
  6. I've been gluten free for 18 days. Is it too late to get the antibody test?
  7. Hi! SO, my 17 month old DS was having weight gain issues and wound having a positive antibody test (positive for both IGa and IGg). We're forgoing the biopsy right now as he is so young and our doc feels that the blood test with all his symptoms is enough to strongly suspect Celiac. Now, I have been researching celiac a lot since we got the blood test...
  8. My 16 month old DS has been having some slowed weight gain issues and our doc (a naturopath) had us do a blood test for gluten intolerance. It came back yesterday and he was positive on two out of three antibodies. I do not have the results in front of me so I am not sure what test it was (but I am having the results mailed to me). We have decided not...
