  1. First of all, just hang in there. It does get easier I promise. I know some foods are tempting, but just try and find substitutes. This Forum is a great place for that. I have two kids (teen and preteen), and I just got married this past fall. I started getting sick right after that. So I understand how you feel that you have to keep going to help everyone...

    ARCHIVED Bakeware

You can still use your baking stones, but you need to do some prep work first. Put the baking stones in the oven and run the cleaning cycle. This will get them really hot for an extended period of time. After that you will be all good. I did this with my baking stones, and we cook gluten-free pizza on them almost every Friday and I have not had a problem...
  3. I have been gluten-free since right before Thanksgiving, so I am still learning about all my "other" side effects. I have a question for all of you. I have noticed several times that when I am resting (watching TV. laying on couch, etc) that might heart starts racing. It should be at a resting heart beat. It has only happened a few times, and it has not lasted...
  4. I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their support! You guys are wonderful! My husband is coming around, and has been wonderful this week. He is being supportive, and trying to help more around the house. Thank you again!
  5. I am struggling with joint pain. I can have my ankles, feet, or knees hurt for an hour or for days. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in Novemeber, and have been gluten-free since then. I do not eat anything unless I am sure it is gluten-free. If it is questionable I don't eat it. I am taking a multi-vitamin and a subliquinal B-12 every day. Has anyone...
  6. I am really needing some support right now. Here is my story: I was not realizing that I had any symptoms until this September. I got remarried on Sept. 13, and after we got back from the honeymoon I started getting sick. My stomach was upset and in turmoil non stop, and I was becoming more and more tired. I pushed my doctors and I was lucky enough to find...
  7. I have been careful about asking if my meds are gluten-free (some times they are helpful, and sometimes....). My doc only recommended me taking Calcium and Vit D (without doing any tests to determine what I needed as supplements). What are the typical vitamins and minerals that people with celiac disease are lacking? ang1e0251- I grew up in North Webster...
  8. I have read that celiac disease and neurological issues can be tied together. I had my first seizure when I was 13 and was diagnosed with epilepsy at that point, and have had seizures ever since. It is very well under control (only have them once every couple of years). But now that I have recently been disgnosed with celiac disease I am wondering how they...
  9. I know this will vary with everyone, but here is what I have experienced. The first week that I was diagnosed I immediately went gluten-free and learned everything that I could possilbly learn about eating gluten-free. I felt better within a few days. I had a little more energy, and would actually have a few hours in the day where my stomach did not hurt...
  10. I am recently diagnosed, and have been working very hard at learning to cook gluten-free (not easy, but getting there). I really want to eat some pizza, and have found several recipes for the crust but what about the toppings? Which toppings are gluten-free, like pepperoni and sausage? Thank you for all your help!!! Wendy
  11. I am trying to learn how to cook gluten-free, so for Christmas one thing I asked for was some gluten-free cooking books. What do you think are some great gluten-free cookbooks? I would like to make sure I get some good books, instead of just starting with sub-par books. Thank you very much for your help!!!
  12. Thanks guys for the posts! I am already starting to feel a little better, with a little energy so I am thrilled about that! And I am eating better, and now that I am gaining energy then I will be able to exercise again! So I am hoping that I will lose the weight as well. And I really felt cold all the time as well, and I did not know that could be part of...
  13. When a recipe calls for gluten-free baking mix, what are they referring to (something like a Bisquick that is gluten-free)? I found a Bisquick substitute recipe that is gluten-free. Can I use this? Thanks a million! Wendy
  14. I am newly diagnosed with celiac disease, so to say the least I have quite a few questions. I have seen that prior to going gluten-free some people lose weight while others gain weight, and the same thing happens after going gluten-free. I am curious to hear from those that gained weight prior to going to a gluten-free diet if you lost weight, stayed the...
  15. Greetings! I have been recently disgnosed with celiac disease (less than a week actually), and I am trying to gluten-free my kitchen right now. I know that if my Teflon pans are scratched I need to get some new gluten-free ones. But what about my cooking stones? Can I put them in the oven at a really high tempature and then reseason them? Would this work...
