  1. Thanks for all the replys. JennyC ~ She tested negative for bacteria and anything else that my GP tested for (I'm not sure what if anything that was). In a week she is going in for an ultra sound. I guess we'll see if they find anything. To be honest, I'm not really concerned. I will make sure that she is thoroughly checked out. In the end it doesn...
  2. Hi, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease very early this year. My GP said that unless my two girls (3 and 6) were exhibiting obvious signs of the disease that we shouldn't bother testing them. I felt that that seemed like a good idea. Recently, the GP discovered blood in my eldest daughter's urine. We're being referred to a pediatrician and he's sending...
  3. I'm sure that someone on this board recommended that a short while after diagnosis that I should have my GP re-test my TTG. Did I make this up or is that a test that should be re-run to make sure that my numbers are in fact on the decline? My doctor says that "they" (whomever they may be) only run the test as a diagnostic and that after that they will...
  4. Well.......no big surprise for me. After being gluten free for 2 weeks and feeling great (emotionally, something I didn't expect ) I did a gluten challenge for 3 weeks before my unexpected biopsy and felt horrible (emotionally and physically ). I got a call last week from my GP's office saying that my test results were in and that I needed an appointment...
  5. What's the purpose of the mouth guard? I assume it keeps you from biting down on the instrument. Do any of you remember the mouth guard? Was it comfortable? I'm just having flash backs to my last dentists visit
  6. Thank you to everyone who responded!!! I've been reading along but haven't had time to respond as I have a 5 and 2 year old running around here. Now that I understand the purpose of the medication (I have confirmed with my GI's office that they are using Versed) and that it isn't actually an analgesic I feel a bit more comfortable with the whole situation...
  7. One more thing..... When you come to do you know where you are and why your there or is your memory a bit hazy?
  8. Thanks for your responses. I think that asking for a tranquillizer would probably be a good idea. Although I'm 31 I feel like a scared 5 year old when I think about this procedure. I'm off to look Versed up. I always feel way more relaxed about things when I am well educated about them. Do you know of anyone on this board who has done it drug free? I'd...
  9. After thinking that I would have to wait over a year for my biopsy (I'm in Canada and that's what my GP estimated) I received a call yesterday from the GI office scheduling me for the beginning of February, only 5 weeks after I received my blood test results. I have been gluten free for 2 weeks now and feeling great. Although the GI's office recommending...
  10. Thank you for taking the time to respond Gemini and njbeachbum. I do have more questions! How do I clean things to make sure they are gluten-free? Can I use a cutting board that has been used for gluten foods if it's cleaned well? What about a bread machine? I have a number of good quality appliances and would prefer not to have to replace them all. ...
  11. Hi, I have recently tested positive to celiac disease via a blood test. Where I live (in Canada) it can take up to 18 months for me to get a biopsy. Therefore, my GP has suggested to me that I should go gluten-free to heal and stop any further damage until I can get in for the biopsy. I have decided to take his advice. At this point in time the only sign...
