  1. Has anyone found a gluten-free bread that you don't have to bake yourself? I used to like Gluten Free Delites' white bread, but they went out of business! I can't seem to find any that taste even remotely edible. Has anyone else been luckier?
  2. I noticed that Chunky candy bars are on the list as being gluten-free. I used to love those but I read on the label something to the effect "processed on equipment that also processes nuts and wheat," so I have been avoiding these. Did anyone else notice this or am I depriving myself for nothing? Maybe i should look again?
  3. I've been gluten-free for six months now, and I have one more question. I understand that lots of celiacs have allegies to other food products besides wheat. Now, I've noticed that I have the same reaction to corn that I have to wheat (cramps and diarhea), but only when I eat alot of corn (even corn chips, popcorn, etc.) at one sitting. I wonder if this...
  4. Darn, I sure was hoping someone would say yes to this question but I know you're right. My logic says, too, that a tiny bit of gluten should do a tiny bit of damage, and a lot should do alot. I can still dream about that creme filled doughnut though!
  5. Well, dear. I don't know if kidney stones is a common problem in celiacs because I'm only newly dx. I can only tell you that I, too, have kidney stones and also had a hysterectomy last year because of fibroids. I have bad teeth and used to have diarhea all the time. Since going gluten free (only 3 weeks), I have had NO diarhea but still have the fatigue...
  6. Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. My blood test showed signs of celiac disease, but the biopsy was "inconclusive". The doctor said that there was "nonspecific inflamation" but not the typical damaged villi ( I think that's spelled right). He still believed it was there though. He said that the damage could be "spotty" so maybe he just missed biopsying...

    ARCHIVED Fast Food

I'm just newly diagnosed- have been eating gluten free for 2 weeks and I can tell it's helping me. I am doing Ok with the diet- still lots of questions but it's not as difficult as I first expected and I feel so much better. Now, I would like to be able to go out to eat with my family or a friend now and then but I don't know what I can safely order. Veterans...
  8. Thanks so much. I'm glad to know I can still have a few of my favorites! -tg
  9. I have only just begun to eat gluten free but already my stomach is feeling better (after only 25 yrs)! The information my doctor gave me about this diet is very non-specific, though, and some of the information on the web is contradictory. I have two specific questions. I LOVE rootbeer but all the information I've seen says is "some rootbeers". WHICH...
  10. You all have been so helpful. I've started eating gluten free this week end. I really think the doctor's on to something here- everything I read on the net about symptoms of celiac seems to say "me". Thank you so much for the encouragement. One more question- how do you take communion in church? The things you don't think of until you're in the situation...
  11. I'd appreciate opinions from others who have had experience with this. I'm 44 and I've gone through so many tests. The blood test was positive for celiac but the biopsy was negative. Now the doctor wants me to go on the celiac diet and see if it helps. In a way I hope he's right because I'd like for something to help, but I have a concern. I'm 5'3" and...
