  1. Thank you so much everyone for your help. We went through our kitchen and threw away everything that we had introduced in the last 4 months and went back to our original staples (Glutino products, bell and evans, Skippy peanut butter, etc) and we have seen an improvement. I did throw away my 'green' cleaning supplies as well (I called the company and all...
  2. Thanks for the response. We have tried eliminating dairy, although she was able to tolerate them after her initial diagnosis for about 6 months without any problems. she doesn't eat much soy, corn or eggs - she is a really fussy eater. Like me as a kid, she pretty much sticks with the carbs and a rare vegetable here or there. The odd thing is that...
  3. My daughter is almost 3, was diagnosed with celiac disease a year ago and was doing great on a gluten-free diet until about 3 months ago. Since that time, she has progressively worsened with her presenting symptoms from a year ago - severe constipation, weight loss, fatigue and irritability. I have searched everywhere! I have thrown away anything not...
  4. Avery's Mommy: I totally understand your stress. My daughter's symptoms started at about 6 or 7 months of age when she started solid foods (cheerios and those toddler biscuits, all of which contain wheat). She presented with severe constipation. We had several visits to the pediatricians as she was not able to pass her own stool (we had to literally...
  5. I am an Emergency physician and my daughter has celiac disease. My husband and I believe she probably came within a few months of dying from the disease. She developed severe constipation at 7 months of age, and spiraled down over the course of the next year. She was blood tested for celiac at 1 year of age, and her tests were negative. As a result, we...
  6. Thanks for all of the information! I know my wallet and my scale would both benefit if I gave up Subway and Chipotle. As of now, I luckily don't seem to have any symptoms or medical problems (except for fatigue, but I'm pretty sure thats a result of my 2 year old). I may try the gluten-free diet for a few weeks just to see how I feel. Thanks again...
  7. Hi. I am new to this forum, but am very excited to tell my story. I feel like I, too, can help a lot of people through discussing what my family has been through. My daughter, now 2, was diagnosed with celiac disease. Knowing that it is genetic, I was tested and I encouraged my family to be tested as well. My mother, who has had GI problems since my...
  8. Be careful about negative blood tests. Up to 20% of celiacs will have negative tests. My daughter was diagnosed at about 17 months by endoscopy with biopsy. The biopsy showed that she had severe disease (although we didn't need the biopsy to know something was making her severely sick!) She was also vomiting every day prior to the gluten-free diet. It...
  9. Raquelita: This definitely may be celiac disease. It sounds very similar, although luckily less severe, to what my daughter experienced. At about 7 months of age, she had horrible, horrible constipation. She would strain and strain, sometimes we had to physically pull it out of her. She would often have rectal tears from it. Her pediatricians blamed...
