I live at Lake Travis in Austin Texas with my husband and two sons age 16 and 22. Have been working from home online since 1996 was tested for food allergies in 2005. My test showed strong allergies to wheat/gluten/barley/rye and it's taken over two years of denial to finally cope with this issue that has apparently cause most of my health issues including some very serious. It's not just the irritable bowel(IBS) and stomach issues which is obvious when eating gluten and wheat.
I have struggled with thyroid issues and was on medication for over 30 years. I have been medication free for over two years now and it's been an uphill battle not realizing that the gluten could be the culprit to causing many of the health issues I've had over the years. I've struggled with join pain, muscle cramping, severe itching, swollen eye lids and edema under my eyes lately.
Also have serious skin issues and finally realized this could be the gluten/wheat too! Recently picked up a copy of Elisabeth Hasselbeck's new book 'The Gluten-Free Diet' and it's been a real eye opener to some of the products I've been using that have wheat and gluten in them including all my personal care products! So I'm eliminating them one by one!
I highly recommend her book for more awareness of this issue and lot's and lot's of great resources for Gluten Free living and products!
