  1. I will be hearing from the Dr. tomorrow on the results of my ds' blood work. I have had many medical issues with both my dc, and have always had the "Mommy Instincts" to guide me through them. I can honestly say that I do not have them with me for this one. I truly don't know what the result will be. Ds' symptoms have waxed and waned since being put...
  2. Thank you. I agree.
  3. Thank you so much for your supportive response. Your right it is sometimes extremely hard to make decisions about what is in your dc's best interest. Case in point: My dd from about 8 months of age, started to wake very frequently at night. By 18 months she was waking every hour on the hour. I still nursed and everyone including experts were telling...
  4. I put him back on gluten per Dr.'s orders so that we could do the blood test. As you say, I do indeed need that piece of paper stating he is positive and yes, I will also have to have part of his intestine cut out as well for proof. Yes, it is breaking me apart seeing him go through this, yes I do feel horrid doing this to him and thanks for making...
  5. Ds is back on gluten and has been for 2 weeks. He is going to be tested (blood test) in 4 weeks. His first day back on a regular diet he was crying and begging me not to make him eat regular food he was cramping so bad. His stools softened but they never developed into diarrhea. Then he had 3 days of no symptoms what-so-ever. Then he began cramping again...
  6. Thanks for the reply. It's always nice to know that you can come here and get support.
  7. No not yet. We are just in the initial phases of it. I live in Canada and unfortunately it can take a very long time to get through the system. We just seen the ped (after waiting on the referral from our family dr.) this morning. Ds is currently back on gluten for 6 weeks and then will have the blood test. Unfortunately the blood test is not covered...
  8. It looks like we may have another piece of the puzzle that points to celiacs. Ds has been gluten free for almost 5 weeks now, he has gained 2 lbs in that time. He has never gained weight the way average kids do. He's lucky if he gains a lb in a year, let alone 2 in 5 weeks. So far his indicators are: a) Initially slow weight gain &...
  9. Ds' symptoms were cramping and diarrhea, usually within a few hours of eating gluten. He has not been diagnosed yet, were are still waiting on the referral to the ped-gastro for testing, but all the signs point to Celiacs. I'm hoping he doesn't react and that it truly isn't Celiacs, this is my wishful thinking. Plus I hope it doesn't effect him tomorrow...
  10. Ds has been gluten-free for a month now. My dh took him over to friend's of ours to play for the afternoon. When he got home ds asked for a snack and I asked him if he had anything at his friend's? Dh informed me that all he had was pretzels. I looked at him and asked why he had pretzels? Dh said he wasn't even thinking and that it just occurred...
  11. Thanks for replying. Yes, it does seem like we have very similar little boys doesn't it. I too hope we get some answers soon. It now seems like he is getting very tired as of late as well. Just yesterday he took a 2 hour nap in the middle of the afternoon. He hasn't napped in over 3 years. He is also sleeping for a lot longer period at night as...
  12. Thanks for clearing some things up for me. I've yet to hear from the Dr. about when his GI appointment will be. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later, seeing as wait times to see specialists can be horrid here. Luckily, I'm off work for the next 2 months, so travelling won't be difficult. I seriously don't think I can handle anything else. ...
  13. Thanks for the response. As far as continuing to have him eat gluten, someone else told me the same thing, but I am curious about one thing. If he does have celiac, would that not mean that he would react to every bit of gluten in his diet? Or can it be sporadic? I forgot to mention earlier that ds has always been very tiny. He turned six in...
  14. Hello everyone! I'm new and looking for information. I just happened upon this site. My ds (age 6) is the one that is in the process of a possible celiac diagnosis. We are in the very initial stages. We have just gone to the Dr's for the first time with his symptoms/problems and celiacs was mentioned. He is getting a referral to a ped GI, which...
