  1. My dad was a great cook and I was making spaghetti sauce one night from his recipe, he called for 2 tbsp of sugar and I did not have any....so I substituted with 2 tbsp of raw honey I had. Needless to say the sauce turned out not only super sweet but sticky. Same recipe as above only this time I substituted a tbsp of garlic powder with a tbsp of garlic...
  2. The blood test and an endoscopy came up negative for Celiac for me. My reg doc, pdoc and g.i. doc all believe that I have a great sensitivity to gluten and all agree that I should go gluten free regardless of the what the tests results show. I have been gluten free or a couple weeks and I feel great. I am sleeping deeper and not as long, I am energetic...
  3. I treated myself to gluten free fettuccini alfredo by Gluten Free Cafe. I found it in the freezer section of Meijers. It was pricey, a little over $5 but it was worth it. The meal was delicious. A 9.2oz serving is 400 calories, 16g of fat and 55g of carbs. Not what I would consider too healthy but good for those times when you are too rushed to cook...
  4. I was tested for Celiac disease this summer. First a blood test and then an endoscopy. My results were negative on both tests. I first tried a gluten free diet about two years ago with amazing results. I started back this month on becoming gluten free again. My doctors and I think it is for the best because a gluten free diet helps me manage my irritable...
  5. I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy Friday morning. The prep and procedures went fine and I will get the full results by the end of next week. I will be surprised if I test positive for Celiac Disease because the blood test came back negative several months ago. I went gluten free for several weeks this summer and I felt great. My ibs symptoms lessened...

  7. I will be having a colonoscopy and an endoscopy on September 4th and I am anxious to get these tests done and proceed from there. I am still eating gluten a few times per day but I have also purchased some gluten free products to try them and see what I like for future use. Wow, the expensive is amazing! It just frustrates me how it is so expensive to...
  8. Thanks for the cheerios tip. I had them for my granddaughter and just assumed they were gluten free. I need to start reading lots of labels.
  9. I am not a very good cook and I was wondering what is the types of food I should stock up on. I can tolerate dairy and oats. I have rice, gluten-free pasta, fresh and frozen veggies, gluten-free crackers and bread, chex cereal, oats, cheerios, milk, yogurt and fresh fruit. What else should I be stocking up on?
  10. Thanks. I will be seeing my regular physician on Monday, so he can do the referral to the GI doc. I want to try and get an endo and a colonoscopy together. From what I understand I should continue to eat gluten until I get the testing done. Really glad I found this forum. Lots of good information here.
  11. I have had the blood test and it was negative but my regular doctor thinks I should see a GI doc and get an endoscopy and I am due for a colonoscopy. I will be calling the GI doc he referred me to next week to make an appointment. I take Bentyl for irritable bowel syndrome, which I was dx with after my last colonoscopy. I take 10mg four times per day...
