  1. Thanks, guys! I felt really good today after hearing from all of you and reading all of the stories on this site. My usual 4 trips to the bathroom after lunch didn't even get me down! AND...I called my drs office geared with all my new knowledge and he said that he was very supportive in starting a gluten free diet and was going to recommend it as a next...
  2. I am not an expert in any of this, as I am not diagnosed or gluten free, yet...but, I wanted to let you know that I can relate entirely! I get the worst joint and bone pain that sometimes I can barely walk. It usually happens in the evening and I have to take narcotics as well for relief and to be able to sleep. Otherwise, it keeps me up it's so bad. ...
  3. I also thought this might make you smile...I was thinking of all the different things drs have told me to try and just remembered that when I was like 12-13, one specialist told my mom to eliminate ice from my diet. Yes, ice. Ha! Not exactly sure the medical reasoning behind it (frozen water malabsorption?), but for like 3 months I wasn't allowed to have...
  4. You guys are all so amazing and I feel fortunate to have found these forums. I'm definitely going to call tomorrow and request copies of all the tests and ask why the hydrogen breathe test wasn't performed if he suspects fructose malabsorption. I am also going to tell them that I am going to start a gluten free diet. It's been so helpful to scour this...
  5. Sorry to keep adding...but they sell smaller sizes in store than that link. It's a little cheaper.
  6. My 20th month old gets it all over his little toosh all the way up his back and it constantly comes and goes (not dignosed, yet...we are working on it). I have tried everythig from desitin (which is crap) to bordeaux's (which did nothing). The best stuff, and I hope it works as well for you is called "triple paste" (pretty sure that's correct spelling...
  7. Fluffy, thanks for the info and sorry to hear about your restrictions. I have been eliminating/limiting fructose for the past week and 1/2. Not easy, you are right! I have noticed that my pain before a bowel movement is not as intense, but the urgency and frequency still exist I also notice that if i eat something like a piece of bread (been looking...
  8. Across, I think like if I were to point my finger at myself and look at it at eye level, it's higher on the left side and lower on the right. Does that make sense? The lower part also seems to curve down if I let them grow too long, towards the tip of my finger.
  9. I also wanted to ask if all of the tests my dr did would be an indicattion of gluten? I can't remember all of them, but it was definitely a long list of blood tests included a cbc, sed rate, thyroid, phosphate, etc. and a list of stool tests as well. I didn't see the actual results, but the nurse said everythig was fine. If there were something more than...
  10. First, let me say...I love this site! I am on a posting-spree as I navigate this new world I am learning about and researching. Trying to solve the puzzle. Anyway, does anyone have fingernails that grow wavy at the tips? Is this related to any deficiencies, etc? I tried to google, but proved useless. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge to share?
  11. My assumption is this type of care is not generally covered through insurance, am I wrong? I went to see an allergist several years ago who practiced holistic medicine and ended up with over a thousand dollar medical bill. That was a rough lesson to learn! Do you find your treatment to be very expensive? Thanks for the reply
  12. I am wondering if it would be worth a try to see a holistic dr? I posted earlier in the pre-diagnosis board about my long struggle with symptoms and problems with GI drs. Has anyone been diagnosed this way or have positive things to say? I would love some input. It seems these types of drs. might even be more sensitive?
  13. Thank you, both! I am at the point where I am finally ready to give the diet a try and order the Enterolab test (which, I'm sure my insensitive GI will rule as phooey) but I think $400 is worth it, as opossed to finding yet another dr. I tried to ask for an endoscopy, but he said he strongly didn't feel it necessary. I'm sure you all feel the frustration...
  14. I feel your pain! I am new to the boards, and just made my 1st post earlier today! I am not gluten free, yet, as I am on the path to self-diagnosis after dealing with many many GI drs who diagnose me with "just IBS and bile salt diarrhea" I am taking Questran for the 3rd time since having my gallbladder removed in 1997. I have suffered with increased...
  15. This is my 1st post, so forgive me if it's long. But, I need some support! I am 98% sure that I have gluten intolerance/celiac disease. I can
