ARCHIVED Gluten Elimination Plus Discovering Other Intolerances
Chalula88 replied to giggleburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, it can reverse for most people, but you have to be very diligent about avoiding allergens. A lot of the process of healing is figuring out which allergen is the one causing the problem. You can be allergic to twenty things and only have one of them affect your EE. So figuring out how to eat healthy usually involves taking away most food that you have... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Elimination Plus Discovering Other Intolerances
Chalula88 replied to giggleburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
giggleburger, I highly recommend you get tested for eosinophillic esophagitis (EE). The symptoms are exactly like what you describe and it has to do with a tightening of the esophagus that makes it difficult for food to get into the stomach (you don't necessarily feel this tightening, but it causes coughing and regurgitating food). The most common foods... -
ARCHIVED Fatigue/no Energy And Mood Swings
Chalula88 replied to MegRie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey MegRie, I know this post is pretty old, but I just wanted to say that I have these exact same symptoms. When I first went gluten free I felt great, then slowly my energy declined more and more. Now I have days where I get so frazzled and overwhelmed by the simplest tasks that I can't get anything done and I am very anxious and moody much of the time... -
ARCHIVED Ruby Tuesday's - Cincinati Location
Chalula88 replied to Chalula88's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My location does indeed have a gluten free menu. You can walk in and ask for it and they'll hand it to you. It also states on their website that it's available. I do think restaurants should not be allowed to claim they have gluten free menus (or even gluten free dishes) if they're not actually going to worry about CC. There's a restaurant near me (Don... -
Me and my family just ate at Ruby Tuesday's (at Kenwood mall, Cincinnati) last week and had a terrible experience. I have Celiac, my sister has EE and can't eat gluten, among other things. We explained at length about our food allergies, asked them to cook our meat on foil and ordered off their gluten free menu. I ordered dry rubbed ribs and my sister...

ARCHIVED Restaurant Near Aronoff Center Cincinnati?
Chalula88 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Does anyone know of a gluten free safe restaurant within reasonable distance of the Aronoff center in Cincinnati? I'm trying to go out tonight to see a show for my bf's mom's birthday. I usually just stick to something safe like Skyline or Chipotle, but I think they'd rather go somewhere a little nicer. I am extremely sensitive. I see that Mitchell... -
ARCHIVED Some Questions
Chalula88 replied to superw's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should definitely get an endoscopy. Thin or ribbon-like BM's could be a sign of intestinal and colon tumors or polyps. Basically, the blockage caused by the lump means you are squeezing and straining your BM past it, thus it gets tiny and you feel constipated or you feel like you haven't totally eliminated when you actually have. It could potentially... -
ARCHIVED 15Yo Spontaneously Allergic To Everything?
Chalula88 replied to Chalula88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you all so much for your replies. I don't think anything in her environment has changed, but I'll ask her some questions and see. I will make sure they take several biopsies for Celiac disease. They haven't checked her for eosinophillic gastroenteritis, but would they be able to see that during the endoscopy? Thanks again guys... -
ARCHIVED 15Yo Spontaneously Allergic To Everything?
Chalula88 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm really interested in whether anyone has heard of something like this or might have some information that could help. The doctors are baffled and say they've never seen a case like this. I cannot tolerate gluten at all (suspect Celiac, but I haven't had a biopsy) and milk bothers me in large quantities (milkshakes, ice cream, etc.) only, so I still... -
I am really angry with Don Pablos (specifically in Hyde Park, Cincinnati). They sent out fliers advertising their gluten free menu, so me, my bf, and our friends went to eat there tonight because we were already out and wanted to try something new. So, I got the menu and was immediately turned off by the fact that it says right on it that they don...

The gluten free pizza is only pepperoni or cheese, like GlutenFreeManna said. Maybe, since you ordered the veggies, they just assumed it would be okay? They are not listed as a gluten free option at my Uno's. I have eaten the pepperoni pizza and didn't get sick, though I wasn't a huge fan of the taste. We have Naked Pizza here (Cincinnati) and it's...

ARCHIVED Is Vina Acecook Oh! Ricey Safe?
Chalula88 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I really want to eat Vina Acecook Oh! Ricey instant porridge for lunch, but I don't know if it's safe. The ingredients I'm not sure about are: Artifical pork flavour powder and Smoke flavour powder. Do you think these are safe or has anyone ever eaten this stuff before? I got it at our local Asian market. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Shopping Today
Chalula88 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Guys, I have somewhat of a vague question I guess. I am looking for foods that are extremely cheap and gluten free, I am going to Jungle Jim's this evening and they have tons of international foods, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for foods to look for? I am a college student living with my boyfriend and we are barely breaking even... -
ARCHIVED Very Cheap Gluten Free Food!
Chalula88 replied to Chalula88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The allergen box is brand new! I got it last month and it was the first time it was offered. The food is made especially for angel food ministries I believe, at least all of the labels say angel food ministries on them. The ingredients are listed online and on every package so that should help you make a decision regarding how safe they are for your... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Yeast Infections

Another question.....could it be that I have leaky gut? I have never been tested. Also, should I eliminate dairy? A site about leaky gut says that dairy feeds yeast.... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Yeast Infections
Chalula88 replied to Chalula88's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can tolerate dairy, so I will try that for some added fat. I don't believe it is bacterial vaginosis because I don't have any discharge or significant odor. As I said above, two of the four times I had the characteristic curdly discharge that comes with a yeast infection, but only a very small amount of it. -

ARCHIVED Very Cheap Gluten Free Food!
Chalula88 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Everyone! My mom is a social worker and just informed me last month that an organization called Angel Food Ministries just started carrying a gluten free box! The organization buys food in bulk and then resells it for very very cheap. You do not have to be needy or provide any information about your income to receive the food. You just order... -

Okay, thank you! I will try that and see where it gets me! I actually don't like cake, cookies, chocolate, or candy, so don't eat any of it. I just drink soda and Kool-Aid, but that was also in an effort to gain weight...I have size 0 clothes that don't fit anymore and my family and boyfriend are constantly shoving food on me. What high calorie... -

Thanks for your responses! I thought about the cup being the issue too, but the pain started before inserting the cup 2 of the 4 times. I have also been using the cup for a year with no issues until going gluten free. If I cut out sugar do I have to cut out corn syrup as well? Sorry if that is a silly question....I just feel like everything... -
Hello everyone, In the last week or so my stomach has been bothering me on a daily basis. I am really frustrated because I have felt great for 4 months since going gluten free and now all the sudden I have crampy, gasy, bloaty stomach and diarrhea. At first I thought I had just been glutened accidentally, which I still think may have happened, but...

Hi Everyone! I have been lingering on these forums for a while, but just joined today. I'm really glad I found this community! A little about me: I am 19, I have celiac disease, and I have been gluten free for about 4 months. I get the horrible stomach issues, depression and anxiety from any level of gluten - including cross contamination...
