  1. Thank you! She has an appointment in December, they will retest her then to see if there are any changes. I assume if the numbers go up they'll eventually want to scope her again. She's a trooper though, said she wanted to go back because the bed was really comfy
  2. Well I posted a question in a Facebook group, hoping to find someone who had been through something similar (low total IgA, normal tTG tests (both) but positive DGP IgG). A doctor answered (his name is Rodney Ford and I've read some stuff he's written), and he said, "The DGP-IgG (Deaminated Gliadin Peptide) test is very sensitive in picking up early celiac...
  3. I admit I'm a little worried I put her through this for nothing. But there was no way I wanted to wait six months.
  4. Her scope/biopsy was today. Everything went well. Visually she was normal, but so was her sister. Who is of course celiac (biopsy revealed villi damage for her). Results should be back in a week to ten days.
  5. We're about halfway through the month of waiting for her scope/biopsy (she said that going for the scope "now" instead of waiting 6 months was totally fine, but still wanted to wait a month). It's really become apparent that she eats little to no gluten on a regular basis, which may be why her DGP test came up as a low positive. We just don't eat a lot of...
  6. I emailed the doctor explaining that we don't feel comfortable waiting six months because I feel it's cruel to make her suffer. I'll update here with what's next.
  7. Oh my gosh. I was feeling so happy that we finally might have an answer and now I'm conflicted again. I took her to a good children's hospital in Kansas City for the testing, I admit that I am really unhappy that she wasn't looked into more carefully — if I hadn't insisted on further testing, we'd think she was fine, but she's probably not. I definitely a...
  8. My 5-year-old has been exhibiting similar symptoms as my older daughter did before her celiac disease diagnosis five years ago. I had her initially screened a year ago. Her total IgA is low, which means the ttg test against the IgA was pointless. Her ttg IgG was also negative. Fast forward to a few months ago. Still exhibiting symptoms, so I got her a...
  9. Hi all. I had my 5-year-old screened for celiac disease (she's having GI symptoms her sister was biopsy confirmed 5 years ago). They said that she didn't have it (her TTg IgA was less than two), but I asked about her total IgA and was told the following: "Her total IgA was slightly low (hers was 20.1-- our lab says less than 25 is low). We can still trust...
  10. My 5-year-old has been complaining of stomach pain for months, and while it's not severe, it's enough that it reminds me of her sister before she was diagnosed 5 years ago via biopsy. So last Friday I took her to a pediatric GI at a children's hospital who ran a full celiac panel. I was just wondering how long it takes to do all of them? I know I can view...
  11. Thank you for your reply! We were all tested when she was and all came back negative. Well, we were all tested except for the newborn baby that is. I've been tested twice, everyone else (two sons and husband) just once. Found out one son is IgA deficient in the process too. I'm actually considering eliminating it entirely for awhile. We're about to go...
  12. My 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed a year and a half ago via positive tTG-IgA (it was over 120) and a positive biopsy. I have another daughter (born a week after her sister's biopsy) and she has confirmed milk protein allergy and possible egg allergy. I have not kept her gluten free (she gets crackers and cheerios as well as puffs). She has had...
  13. Yes, my daughter's doctor recommended that we all get tested. She said that testing her half-brother was optional but we did it anyway. Everyone was negative. 3 out of 4 grandparents are probably going to get tested too!
  14. Thank you, this works!
