  1. Yes. I've been on the "gluten challenge" diet for a few months now and just had the endoscopy done this week. Waiting for results now. I really hope for some kind of decisive answer to this mystery. I guess I'll likely try removing gluten for a few months now in any case, just to see if I feel better. Its just a difficult commitment to make without a diagnosis...
  2. I got my Enterolab results in but not sure what exactly to make of them. Can you help me understand what they mean or what I should think of them? Any help is much appreciated! Here they are: Gluten Sensitivity Stool and Gene Panel Complete Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 7 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units) Fecal Anti-tissue Transglutaminase...
  3. Can anyone recommend a good Celiac Doctor in San Francisco, CA? Help!
  4. Planning on having the endoscopy in a few months after I have finished the gluten challenge. I am hearing from other posts that many doctors may not do the endoscopy properly and therefore can get false negatives. How do I know my doctor is going to do it properly? Will he get a big enough sample of tissue, etc...? Doctors I am considering are: Dr....
  5. Dear anyone who knows and is kind enough to spend a moment sharing: I am currently on the "gluten challenge" to reintroduce enough gluten into my daily diet to make my small intestine and blood show signs of celiac (if I have it) so that I will know if that is the cause of my symptoms. My doctor ran the Prometheus Lab test to see if I have the DNA that...
  6. Can anyone tell me the difference between these two sources of testing? Any opinion as to which is more helpful in a diagnosis or either at all?
  7. Anyone out there done the gluten challenge? The doc says I need to add gluten back into my diet on a daily basis for 4-8 weeks so that I can have tests done to prove I have celiac. I've been mostly off of gluten for some time so my body needs it reintroduced in order to have the tests show positive. Has anyone out there done this? How did it go? Was it worth...
  8. Great. I can't wait... Thanks for the responses!
  9. I have been gluten-free for some time and wanted to "test" it to see if gluten is really an issue for me. I ate a slice of bread last night around 7pm. Had a little bloating and discomfort but nothing major until I woke up at 6am. Then had some more severe bloating and gas which has stuck with me still and its now noon. Could that still be a reaction to gluten...
  10. I continue to struggle with diagnosis because I have been off of gluten for some time. I am considering the DNA testing. Is it better to do the Enterolab myself or go through my GI doc to get a DNA test done? Is there a difference? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  11. Can anyone help me find a doctor in San Francisco who can help me either diagnose or rule out Celiac Disease? I am struggling finding a doctor who seems well educated about the process. Help!!!!!
  12. Hey thanks for the reply and suggestions. i went off gluten to see if I would feel better and back on because my doc seems to doubt that it is celiac disease. He says it may "just be ibs" which scares me because that seems to be the dark horseman of diagnosis. No cure and no way to ease symptoms (booooo). If it is IBS i'd rather be eating gluten and at least...
  13. I have been off of gluten for some time but really want to know if I have celiac disease. I can't bare the thought of adding it back into my diet in the quantities suggested for a positive test. Can anyone tell me if the DNA testing is worth the money, effort, and help it lends? I wonder if it really tells you anything much. Sounds confusing from the other...
  14. Oh thank goodnes for this forum! I am lost and need some direction please! I finally found a doctor who seems to know what celiac disease is. Thank goodness. I'm still not sure I have it but want to find out for sure. I have long been avoiding all food with gluten and lactose so he says I need to take the gluten challenge so we can test for it. To help...
  15. Thank you for the response and info! How long do I need to add gluten back into my diet if I want the test to be conclusive? Are we talking a week or two or are we talking months of it?
  16. So I just read a book on celiac disease and all of they symptoms sound like my life story. I immediately went to my general doc to see if I can be tested. She ordered the Celiac Panel blood test so I just need to go to the lab and have that done. Here is my concern. Long ago, I removed the obvious wheat containing foods from my diet MOST of the time. I just...
