  1. Edit to my last post...when I was pregnant, the platelets did drop rather low--down to 50,000 or so. In fact, I required general anesthesia for one delivery--I needed a c-section and the anesthesiologist refused to administer an epidural due to the low platelet count. With the other delivery, the platelets were not as low and fortunately I did not need...
  2. I am curious, too! I THINK that I have gluten issues, but finding a doctor to believe me is difficult. I sound like a hypochondriac to them. I have had low platelets a few times in my life--mainly during my pregnancies(2 of them) so they were attributed to the pregnancies. I also had other bizarre lab work during the pregnancies--high ANA titer, etc....
  3. I was pretty sure that all of my lab work would be normal--and I was correct. Now I am not sure what to do and what to believe...I had an Enterolab stool test 4 years ago that was negative (9) and now is positive (109--or something close to that--I don't have the result in front of me). I also had them test for casein this time and the result was positive...
  4. Thanks for the replies--the doctor who prescribed the Vit D ran a lot of celiac tests about 4 years ago--when I was NOT Vit D deficient. My Enterolab was negative at that point as well--or negative around that time. I think I had it tested the year prior. I have always been "addicted" to bread products and that was why I wanted to test. Fast forward a...
  5. I don't know where I fit in the spectrum of gluten intolerance--or even if I really DO have a gluten intolerance. My Enterolab test was positive for intestinal antigliadin IgA (104 Units, normal less than 10 units), but now I really don't know what to believe about this test. I wish there were validated results in the scientific literature, but that is...
  6. Today I received my blood work from my doctor--of course, they didn't order what I asked them to order--and they didn't let me see the lab sheet before I had my blood drawn! I DID give them a list...but this is what they ordered: Gliadian antibody (IGG)--Result 9 (In range) Under 11 is negative; 11-17 equivocal; >17 positive Gliadin antibody ...
  7. Got a call from the doctor today--all my blood work was apparently normal. I need to get a copy (will call tomorrow) but they were going to run a "celiac panel." I have to say I wish I had SOME blood confirmation of the Enterolab result, but I don't--and with so many people so skeptical of that method of testing, I don't know that I will find anyone who...
  8. Thanks--I guess I'm just afraid of being laughed out of the office, to be quite honest! Because of my history of eating disorders (anorexia nervosa and binge eating--NO purging) everything gets "blamed" on my eating disorder and my ED history. I appreciate your input and your response to me. I am interested to see what the current blood work shows and...
  9. I hope my story isn't too long and involved...and that people can offer me some advice as I try to figure things out for myself and my family! A few years ago, I started to wonder whether I had gluten sensitivity. I was tested through Enterolab in 10/06 and the value was a 9 with the normal cut off being a 10. I did not change my diet and figured this...
