  1. Thanks for sharing. I did actually start to get the feeling that anyone who comes to these forums will be diagnosed with celiac by the other posters for some reason or another. I appreciate your explanations. I will have to wait and see what the GI says. Genetic testing isn't something I can decide to do on my own, and in this socialized country, I don...
  2. We just got back his tTg SCR and it is well within normal limits as well. I'm really hopeful that this is another good sign that he does not have celiac. We'll be seeing the GI in a month and doing whatever she says, but based on what I've heard from others, I don't think she's going to put him through and endoscopy just because of that one positive result...
  3. Thanks a lot. The pediatrician just called to say that he discussed our case with the pediatric GI and that the GI wants to see him despite the negative tTg. So we have an appointment for next month. I don't know if she'll want to do an endoscopy or not, but I guess time will tell.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I guess I should clarify a few points. The pediatrician does not want us to go gluten free during that year, as in his opinion he does not have celiac (unless the final result comes up positive as well). We aren't actually looking for a diagnosis. My baby has no symptoms of celiac. The only reason he was tested is because he...
  5. So it seems that our pediatrician disagrees with this. He says that if he would have celiac, he would have more than one positive result. We're still waiting on the tTg SCR but if that's negative, he says we will not need to do an endoscopy. He would just want us to repeat the blood work in a year. Does that sound right?
  6. My baby had a celiac panel done which came up positive with a score of 83.7 with normal range of 0-23. The doctor then sent for tranglutaminase IgA which came back with a score of 0.20 with a normal range of 0-7.19. Now he sent for transglutaminase SCR, and we're still waiting for results. What do these results mean? If the transglutaminase IgA is normal...
  7. My 19-month-old is very small so the pediatrician decided to do some testing just to make sure there's no underlying reason for it. We did blood work and his celiac screen came back above normal. I was wondering if you could help me decipher these results. There were 2 things tested--one is just called "celiac screen", and the normal range is listed as...
  8. Thanks. We just got ours today and it is normal.
  9. We've been waiting for over 2 weeks. Is this normal? Her tTg is 21.3 (low positive) so this result means a lot to us. If it's positive, we go ahead with a biopsy. If it's negative, her pediatrician wants to repeat the blood work in a year (I prefer it to be sooner, but he says that if only tTg is positive and the rest is negative, we have nothing to worry...
  10. Thank you. I am absolutely prepared to go gluten free if an endoscopy shows that she does indeed have celiac. Right now, I'm still at the stage of trying to figure out whether or not she has it and if an endoscopy is justified here. From your post, it sounds to me like it is. On another note, I understand that even if she has no GI problems, it is...
  11. Thank you very much for your reply. The test results list different celiac tests: DeamGLiadin Pept-0.20 (normal 0-7.19) T. Transglutaminase-21.3 (normal 0-16) Anti-transglutaminase-still awaiting results So you're saying that the last 2 are the same thing? Is it the 21.3 that's the more reliable 1 or the 1 that's not back yet that's more reliable...
  12. Thank you very much for your reply. I spoke to the pediatrician today and she said that until the anti-transglutaminase comes back, it's premature to panic. She seemed to think there was still a good chance that dd does not have celiac. Is this accurate? I just found out that my sister's dd tested positive to celiac on the blood test also and is awaiting...
  13. Hi, I'm new here and am hoping you can help me understand my daughter's blood test results. First some background. Dd is 8 years old and has multiple food allergies (IgE-mediated) and asthma. She's otherwise healthy and has no GI pain. She recently had pneumonia for the umpteenth time and her pediatrician decided to do some immune testing on her...
