  1. My 7 year old son developed a rash slightly below his left elbow, and one directly above his ankle, in the Summer of 2009. It's been around for 10 months now. Probably about 1.5"-2" sized area. It's like a collection of small bug bites, in appearance, itches profusely, and sometimes oozes clear. It's been diagnosed as staph and treated as such, diagnosed...
  2. My oldest (whom I have long suspected has gluten intolerance, but has not been confirmed) and my daughter (who IS confirmed gluten intolerant) are both near the bottom of the charts in weight & height. They started out healthy, in the 50th-60th% until 12 or so months; now both are in the 3rd-5th%. Now that we're gluten-free, they have been eating SO...
  3. When you begin a gluten-free diet, is it normal for there to still be tummy pain, or should I assume my daughter is allergic or intolerant to something else in addition to gluten? I feel like we've seen a huge difference in her behavior, sleep, and overall well-being these past 2.5 days. This a.m. she ate gluten-free yogurt for breakfast, and some gluten...
  4. First two days gluten-free have gone really well. My daughter has been eating lots of fruits, veggies, cheese, yogurt, meat, etc. She's 3.5, and gluten-intolerant, but apparently not Celiac. She hasn't minded the no-gluten thing (so far!) but she wants to eat ALL THE TIME. We've been feeding her good meals, lots of food - and then she snacks and snacks...
  5. And for just a bit more info - here are her blood-work numbers: IGE level - 196 (normal: <128) Gliadin antibody - IGG antibody - 42 (normal: <17) IGA levels were normal.
  6. My 3 year old daughter had a positive blood test for Celiac, which was really an answer to so many questions - or so we thought! She underwent the biopsy on Tuesday. It came back with chronic inflammed esophagus, chronic inflammed stomach, elevated lymphoid aggregates, elevated presense of eosinophils (sp), but NEGATIVE for Celiac Sprue. Does this mean...
  7. I live in a semi rural area; there are literally hundreds of acres of wheat fields around here. We're just beginning to delve into the world of Celiac, but I've been wondering if there is any risk in being surrounded by non-ingested wheat. My daughter who thus-far is Celiac-positive also has severe asthmatic symptoms, though no official asthma diagnosis...
  8. Not sure if this is the right forum for this, or not... still navigating my way around here. My daughter, who has a positive blood test but is waiting on the scope, has begun having night terrors, in addition to several other behavioral issues that have cropped up recently. Naturally, I have been wondering if it's a result of the gluten consumption. Has...
  9. My 3 year old had a positive blood test in April, and will be scoped in 2 weeks. I don't know anything about the procedure, but I'm most curious about how soon we'll know the results. Is this something that we should have near-immediate results on, or is there usually a wait between scope and results? Does anybody know how accurate the scope is? Also...
  10. My 3 year old daughter had the blood test run, and the biopsy will happen within a week. Her blood work was "highly indicitive" of Celiac, with "highly elevated antibody levels", though I do not know what the actual levels were. This was a bit of a surprise to us; her doctor suspected Cystic Fibrosis, so the (preliminary) Celiac diagnosis is a blessing...
