  1. Thanks! They think it's the ham. She did fine for a few days on the Kozy Shack Smartgels, rice, the Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels and Gatorade. She will stick to that and then work with the nutritionist.
  2. OK... so daughter hasn't been formally diagnosed with Celiac. She has had every test under the sun, with only the endoscopy showing subtle irritation of the stomach lining and very subtle indication of some (they didn't use the word flattening) in the intestines, and subtle changes to the duodenal folds. No way to formally diagnose with that. The biopsy...
  3. Gluten-Free for 5 days - Daughter is nauseous, thrown up a few times, can't keep anything down, still stomach pains... is this unusual? No diarrhea in 4 days, but no BM either. It seemed like a couple of days ago, she was really back to her old self, and now... BAM!! Is this withdrawal. If eating mostly gluten type foods for most of her 22 years, would...
  4. The last I heard, she was sleeping soundly. Good sign! Thanks for the 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water suggestion! She doesn't like alot of foods (ie, applesauce, bananas), so rice, chicken, jello will be her mainstay for a bit. I do believe she is anxious that this isn't going to work and she'll be back to square one. Time will heal and give her confidence...
  5. Daughter just got out of the hospital a few hours ago after a long spell of years with gastro problems and the myriad of other symptoms associated with Celiac or Gluten Intolerance. The biopsy was inconclusive. They do feel she needs to go on the complete Gluten Free diet, given her relatively positive response to being gluten free for a few days. She...
  6. OH, my gosh!! I love all you people here!! Unbelievable helpful!!!
  7. The doctor's are making her feel as though it is unusual to have this much discomfort. True? I thought each person was different and after 15 years of this, your body does not heal overnight, especially if they don't tell her to be dairy free. Does that mean just lactose free? "Cause we know of an incredible nutritional shake that is gluten and lactose...
  8. Even hospitals, nurses, internists and general GI's don't have a handle on this, do they??
  9. We are awaiting the biopsy results for my daughter's Endoscopy (yesterday afternoon). The GI Dr. saw what appeared to be irritation in the stomach lining, appeared to be a small amount of subtle flattening of the villi and a subtle change in the duodenol (sp?) folds. He can't say for certain, we await the results. She has been Gluten Free for 4 days, with...
  10. Thanks to all! Went over to see my daughter! I told her she wasn't sitting in the fetal position one more minute! I took her to the ER!! She is now in the Hospital with fluids, pain meds and anti-nausea meds. Nurse is well versed in Celiac and is incredibly helpful. I told her she wasn't leaving the hospital until the Endo was completed. Then she...
  11. How does MY daughter continue to eat gluten thinking it may be the culprit for a test that is 9 days away, when she continues to have major stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, throwing up, bloating, no energy, never leaves the house. Can't eat, can't sleep, drink water and toast (if possible)? Doctor prescribed dicyclomine for the stomach cramps and it helps...
  12. So... Daughter has to stay on gluten? Her next blood test is for the two genes that carry the predisposition for Celiacs. She will have that done tomorrow. The only relief from the diarrhea and abdominal pain she has had the the past 3 weeks is 1 day after going gluten free for 24 hours (repeat, 1 seminormal stool 24 hours after trying 1 day of gluten...
  13. Mother with Sjogren's, Aunt with Crohn's, Sister with Lupus, Daughter just determining if the last 15 years of gastro problems, depression, etc have been due to Gluten Intolerance. Once we get her on the right road, I will test myself, as well.

  14. No results on that or the stool sample done on Monday. Does it really take that long? Not that I am confident that it will come back definitive. However, today was a pretty good indication that we are in the right neck of the woods.
  15. Just went back on Gluten today and stomach is worse than ever!
